Love Hurts Pt. 2

You stood in the shower as the water hit your skin. Your hair had gotten longer so you could see it as it fell over your eyes. The scars on your body were now wet as you were lost in thought. There had to be something you can do to fix this.

Your thoughts were interrupted when someone ran a finger up your back. You turned your head enough to see Stephenie standing there. She entered the shower with you as you turned around to look at her. She had her fair share of scars as well.

Stephenie: You seem bothered by something.

You just stood there for a moment.

Stephenie: Do you, want to talk about it?

You sighed as you dropped your head on her shoulder.

Y/N: I overheard Debra and Cassandra talking. They, they said that they both love me.

You felt Stephenie stiffen at the news.

Stephenie: I know.

You lifted your head so you could look at her.

Y/N: What?

Stephenie: I know. It's kinda obvious.

Y/N: So was I just in the dark this whole time? Why didn't you say anything?

Stephenie: I, I don't know.

You looked at her for a moment begore you figured it out.

Y/N: You were scared.

Stephenie just looked at your chest before she slowly nodded.

Stephenie: I didn't want to lose you.

You shook your head.

Y/N: Did you really think I would just leave you because they like me?

Stephenie: No. Well, yes. No. It's hard to explain. I know you would never do that but, you've changed so much since the timewipe and I'm still trying to get to fully know you.

Y/N: The hell does that mean?

Stephenie: Nothing bad! Just that you're not the same Y/N as before and that we all had to accept that. You stayed the same in a lot of aspects but you changed in some others.

You steppd out of the shower and dryed off while Stephenie turned off the water. You threw on some clothes while Stephenie tried to calm you down.

Stephenie: Just listen. Please.

Y/N: Please explain this. Please explain by what you mean when you say I changed in some aspects.

Stephanie: Well, you're a bit more rough around the edges. Before you were so compassionate to everyone but now you, you're a bit more like Bruce.

Y/N: What?

Stephanie: Like, you don't really care for criminals. Your ambitions are more to rebel against the government than to get back go the future.

Y/N: Maybe because I can't get back to my future. There is no future for me to get back to.

Stephanie: I know that! But before you were even willing to help the Sirens. Debra told me how you turned them away like it was nothing.

Y/N: They're criminals, Steph. Why would I help them?

Stephanie: Because it was the right thing to do. It was the thing the old Y/N would do.

Y/N: I'm not that guy anymore. What about that don't you get? I'm not him.

Stephanie: I know. It doesn't make me care about you any less.

You looked at her for a moment.

Y/N: Do you love me?

Stephanie snapped her head up.

Stephanie: What?

Y/N: Do you love me? This me. Not the old me.

Stephanie looked at you in silence. She slowly lowered her head and you rubbed your chin.

Y/N: Right.

Stephanie: I'm sorry but, I can't say that right now. This new you isn't the you I fell in love with. I thought I could change that.

Y/N: You thought you could change me. You thought you could guide me back to the way things were.

Stephanie: I'm sorry.

You just shook your head. So that was it. She fell in love with the old you. When you came back as Red, she wanted to get Y/N back. Not, whoever you were now.

Y/N: Then, maybe you should go. That guy isn't coming back.

Stephanie stood up from the bed and got dress as you leaned against the wall. She looked at you one last time before she left. So, that was the end of it then. So much for that happy relationship.

You gritted your teeth before you sat on your bed and held your head as you thought. Maybe you should just be single for a while. Pull a Bruce and don't get too invested. Actually, maybe you shoulf talk to Debra and Cassandra about what they said. You can't just hide from this.

You heard a silent knock on your door before you sighed.

Y/N: It's open.

The door slowly opened and Cassandra poked her head in.

Y/N: Hey killer. Did you need something?

Cassandra entered the room and closed the door behind her.

Cassandra: You and Stephanie fought?

So she heard.

Y/N: Yeah. I think our relationship is over to.

Cassandra: Why?

Y/N: She, didn't love me. She loved the old Y/N. I can't give her that.

Cassandra: What is wrong with this you?

You shrugged.

Y/N: I guess I'm just, different now. It's whatever. It wasn't meant to be.

Cassandra stood there for a moment as you sat in silence.

Cassandra: I think you are fine like this.

You slowly looked up to the girl and smiled.

Y/N: Thanks killer.

Cassandra smiled before she headed to the door. She stopped long enough to look at you again.

Y/N: I'll be out in a bit. Just need some time alone right now.

Cassandra nodded in understanding as she left. Right. You should get your head in the game. You stood up and grabbed a shirt to throw on. You needed to be a leader.
