House Dragon Episode 7 Thoughts
In my opinion, the overhaul episode was better than the last two. Although I must say, the sowing of the Dragons seeds is done in a way that I can see happening. However, I wouldn't have seen more of the dragons, like wild ones, Grey Ghost and the Cannibal.
Hugh. I have enjoyed this season, but I'm curious about how he is Seara's son. As she would never be pregnant in Kingslanding, or she was, and Royals hid it, and one of the men she had sex with is the father. Hugh came from Old Town, where Seara was a year old, or he came from Lys or Volantis, where he supposedly left a life of wealth as Seara was a rich woman.
As for how the seeds came to Dragonstone, I don't think that makes much sense, or Larys wanted it to happen. Because otherwise, how did they not get arrested, or something else to prevent the dragonseeds from traveling to Dragonstone?
Speak of dragonseeds, Addam and Allyn both have clear motivations, and I understand their actions, although I would rather have had them come forward as they are in the books.
Then we have Jace. How do I get it? His flying dragon is what made him a true Prince in the eyes of the realm now. With dragonseeds claiming, he doesn't have anything to make him stand out. One more thing I would say is why I still think in the books he isn't a bastard. This is also why I will always dislike the changes in the appearance of the Velyarons and Rhaenys; it takes away from the mystery of whether they are the bastard or not. Not that I don't think the actors who play aren't good, but Steve and the others have done well in their roles.
Well, as for Daemon, he finally has his host, but unfortunately, it comes far too late. I wanted more war in the Riverlands, as described in the books. Although his arc is good, I suppose it will come to an end in the next episode.
As for Kingslanding, not much happened. Alicent, I have disliked her since the end of episode eight, making it her reason to usurp Rhaenyra, although before that, she had been poising the court and her children against Rhaenyra. So why the sudden change? I can't really feel anything about her spiral being out of control because of it.
Aegon, as always, is always good.
As for the end, that was not good. Why did I have to see a Marvel scene like that? Also, Rhaenyra should have gone for the kill right there and then, and the war would have been over. That is why the scene doesn't make sense, as it was a perfect opportunity to take Aemon out. Or at least that's how I see it.
Episode 8
What the hell was that? It felt like we were watching a trailer for the next season. This was a bad episode, and I hope for more, but I already knew we wouldn't get a big battle. The fish feed and gullet are later, and the setup isn't yet.
As for the beginning, the Triachy plot is foolish, and Otto comes up with a plan. And I'm curious about what they planned for him. I suppose he won't return to Kingslanding but will be the one who will kill Ulf by drinking the wine. I see him joining Daeron in the next season. Or he goes back to Kingslanding to die, as does in canon.
Then Kingslanding, Damn, it seems Aemond is becoming a full villain slowly breaking apart. Although I always thought Aemond was what Aemon could have become if he didn't have the love of his brother and other kin like Daemon does. Also, what the hell was that with him burning Sharp Point? That never happened. If you want him to burn something, have him in his rage, burned part of the blockade in anger.
As for the rest of the Greens, Helena became a walking spoiler alert, basically telling the end. Then going from there, Damn Daemon, I thought he was at the point of him coming around to wear the crown, but no, he needed vision to see what was to happen. What made the reunion with Rhaenyra less, and can we please stop with them pointing toward Game of Thrones, and especially Daenerys? That woman is a mass-murdering tyrant by the current canon. Unless they announce they have the balls to make a new Game of Thrones, they should stay away from getting into this story, in my opinion. It just made me cringe. Although the scene where he declared for Rhaenyra was good.
Helena was kind of good, except for the vision, which I didn't like. Although her calling Aemond out was good.
Aegon had an interesting scene, although the dialogue was a bit crude.
Criston Cole has fallen so far, and he has been a shit character ever since they made him kill Joffery s1 ep5. Although I like the PSD he has gotten from the battle, what could have been a cool character arc. But now, he mostly mopping about Alicent and Rhaenyra. Oh, that plot of Alicent and him fucking was so stupid, went now were, and will not be resolved, as if we follow canon, they will never meet again.
Gwayne has been good this season and perhaps one of my favorites alongside Aegon. What I did not expect to happen, I thought, would be Jace, but most of his cool stuff wasn't shown or given to Rhaenyra.
Then Rhaenyra, oh dear, has been annoying this season. What happened? But the final scene was most foolish on par with the stuff of Seasons 8 and 7. Alicent somehow arrives at Dragonstone and then sells out her children, except for Heleana. What the hell? Her motivation in the first season was to protect her children from Rhaenyra, and she would kill them, as Otto suggested. That and her reinstatement toward Rhaenyra's actions, with Cole and her siring bastards, and having unmarried sex. What she does in this season makes her a hypocrite. Then they have a stupid conversation, resulting in Alicent giving Rhaenyra Kingslanding and having her kill Aegon. So that was stupid, and she should never have happened, but they want them both to be whitewashed and have a woman power scene.
As for the Dragonseeds, Hugh has been really good. I have enjoyed him and Alyn; they come as good men, and I'm curious about what leads them to take the actions they take in the future. What drives certain actions of them? Ulf was annoying, although that part of his character, although he needed still have more respect, I suppose that will bite him in the ass in the end.
Addam giving Corlys a rant was perfect for giving it to the man. Colrys shows up after all this time after all, his supposed heirs are gone, and now he needs them. Addam had every right to give him the rant he did.
As for no nettles, I think if this is canon, you can do it this way, as they already made the Velaryon dark skin in this one. So having Laena as Nettles is similar; although the lore breaking of the dragons was unnecessary, I rather saw her claim the dragon on Dragonstone.
Although I have a theory in the books, I think Nettles might be Daemon's bastard daughter. But who knows, in this one, Rhaena will ride sheepstealers.
One more good thing is that the music score was good.
Thanks for the read, and let me know what you thought of both episodes.
