Overview of Wizarding World

NOTE: Initially I had planned to dump all this info in form of conversations and knowledge gathering for Harry Potter but it would have led to utter confusion. So I have placed all the information in organised manner. There will be no repetition of the information in the chapters and will directly be used in the plot.

■ The Wizarding World is governed by a Ministry of Magic. At the helm of the ministry is a Minister of Magic who oversees the most major decisions of the Wizarding World.

■ The Ministry of Magic is composed of various departments. Department of Magical Law Enforcement(DMLE), Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures to name a few.

■ Department of Mysteries is another department under Ministry of Magic. Though its highly independent and highly secretive is answerable only to the Wizengamot only when questioned through a two-third majority.

■ The Wizarding Council or the Wizengamot is the main or the supreme body governing the Wizarding Council. It acts as Parliament and drafts laws for the Wizarding world. It also acts as chief judicial body hearing magical crimes. It is the body which elects the Minister of Magic, Chief Warlock and the head of the various other departments.

■ History of the Primitive Families:

The 7 families were the pioneer of the Wizarding Council. The combined effort of the 7 families was the basis on which the Wizarding Britain was founded and the structure to govern it was set up.

The 7 families took up overwhelming power in their hands and made it extremely hard and almost impossible to rewrite their privileges. But since these families had no member of centuries they have been forgetten by the public in general.

[NOTE: I have tried my best to put up a consistent structure of the Wizarding council but nothing I have written is Iron Clad.

I have tried my best to fit up the families as I felt the best and suited to story plot I plan. But some changes may be made in future]

[NOTE: Suggestions are open about the placing of families in the hierarchy. And no changes in Malfoys.]
