Rascal

Early the next morning, Elsie set off to evacuate the woodland which would probably take weeks to fully evacuate.

Perspirations rained down her face as the scorching sun which has risen continued to hit down on her as she could barely walk with numb legs.

"Haiz... where are we even going, am so tired!"

"Stop complaining and keep moving, unless you want to makes this place your home... haha.." Zamiel chuckled as he teased her. He would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy provoking this skinny girl.

Elsie who wanted to rebuke Zamiel however halted. Her brows furrowed as she turned around to gaze at the direction she left from hours ago. She suddenly had a feeling that something was about to go wrong.

Zamiel also furrowed his brows as he felt danger coming.

While they were still observing the situation, Elsie's eyes narrowed as she noticed a black dot that was becoming bigger and bigger, "What the hell!'

A young man who was about the age of twenty-two with messy hair abruptly ran past her which caught her off-guard as she fell from dodging the arrow that flew after the young man.

She sat down there on the ground unmoving as she tried to make sense of what just happened. She had seen a tiny black dot which suddenly got bigger and bigger and unexpectedly a man ran past her followed by a surging arrow which nearly penetrated her neck.

"Run!..run!..follow that kid!!" Zamiel cried out, as he felt an enormous danger coming from the direction the young man ran from.

"Huh...!". Elsie who knew this wasn't the right time to ask questions, instantly turned around and ran towards the direction the young man was fleeing to. Several arrows flew towards her from her back as she ducked them and rapidly increased her speed but still couldn't catch up to the young man.

If I continue like this, I might not catch up to that rascal!

With an explosive stomp of her feet, the leaves on the ground fluttered as she leaped up to a tree, and proceeded to jump from tree to tree. This way she could catch up to the damned rascal.

She jumped from tree to tree for a while and finally saw the shadow of the damned rascal. unhesitantly, she increased her speed and eventually caught up to the young man.

The young man who was fleeing was stunned as he stared at the skinny girl running beside him. Why was this skinny girl running with him?

The young man who didn't have such leisure time to think, shooked his head and continued running, several more arrows flew towards them as they both ducked in a rhythm that anyone who saw them would think they practiced this. They continued to evade the arrows until the young man abruptly grabbed Elsie's skinny waist and pushed the both of them into a vast hole.

An 'ouch'.left Elsie's as she landed on her bum. "Dammit, my bum."

At this moment, she heard the voice of that rascal.

"Finally we lost them." The young man smiled as he walked towards Elsie to help her stand up only to have his face punched by her.

"Damn you! rascal!" Her chest was rising and falling as anger bubbled up inside of her. "What the hell was that? I nearly lost my life out there!"

The young man caressed his jaw as he glared at her. '"I don't even know you! why would I want to drag you into my problem?"

Initially, he had intended to help the skinny girl but who knew she would punch him. This made his frown deepen more.

"You...."

Elsie was in a state of disbelief as she was about to explode from anger.

This rascal had nearly caused her to lose her life, and he was scolding her. Wasn't there a law that stated that when you do wrong to someone, you apologize?

Why was this rascal scolding her instead of apologizing?

A thought suddenly appeared in her mind as her eyes began to widen, "Why was this rascal running for his life? Could it be....that he is a bad guy?"

She instantly turned to face the young man as she gradually brought out her daggers. If he was a bad guy, then she was in danger.

She unhurriedly began to walk away from the young man, while still holding onto her dagger as she decided in her heart that if the young man was to try anything funny, she wouldn't mind swinging the damn dagger.

The young man, however, was stunned by Elsie's sudden reaction. Why was she yanking away from him as though he's some kind of monster? Was it because he scolded her?

He abruptly stood up, which made Elsie jolt back in vigilance. He couldn't help but frown at Elsie's reaction and subconsciously glared at her "You...what is wrong with you? Why are you backing away as though I would kill you or something?"

"Humph! How do I know if you won't? You're obviously a bad guy!" Elsie continued to back away from the young man. She had learned never to trust anyone because if her cousin could harm her then anyone in this world would be able to do the same.

The young man raised his brow as a trace of surprise flashed across his eyes. She was actually running from him because she thought he was a bad guy. He suddenly felt... funny.

A grin formed on his face as he began to walk towards her.

Elsie's who saw his reaction began to trudge back more and more, as she became more vigilant. "You...don't come any closer or else I won't mind cutting you into pieces!" She glared at him while swerving the daggers from right to left.

"Really!.." The young man continued to walk towards her until he was two meters away from her. He leaned down so their face was close enough that if he moved another inch, his face would touch hers.

"You don't even know me and you think am a bad guy. Well, I will like to tell you that am not-" Then he drew back and began to walk back to his position, "-Those people were hounding me because I slapped their Young miss."

"Huh...!" Elsie looked at the young man with a puzzled expression. Why would he slap a noble young miss?

From the movies she watched in her past life, she knew that troubling a young miss of an aristocratic family was as good as courting death.

The young could not help but shake his head at her reaction and said, "Don't look at me like that, she asked for it," He proceeded to lie down on his back, "We will have the night here and find a way to leave tomorrow."

Pondering over the young man's word, Elsie went over to sit beside the wall, she stared at him as she asked "What is Your name?"

"Zarin...not a cool name..hehe...I know," Zarin chuckled as he adjusted his body to gaze at the skinny girl sitting beside the wall. "And what is your name?"

"Elsie."

"Nice name you have," Zarin complimented as he shut his eyes close.

Elsie flashed him a look with a half-smile hung on her lips and gently laid down.
