Chapter 4

Adelaide would not strive for status or fame. She didn't get how people derived pleasure from feeling superior to others. Whatever the reason, she didn't want to ever feel that way.

Anyway, where was Filippa? Adelaide would have expected Filippa to walk into the classroom since classes were over for today. What if Filippa was looking for her? That was very likely, but Adelaide decided to wait a few minutes before going to search for Filippa herself.

"Adelaide! Where in Lord's name were you?! I was searching the entire school for you," Filippa said.

"Sorry," Adelaide muttered.

Just what had happened while she was gone? Was she sick? If so, then why hadn't Adelaide told her anything yet? Her concerns were growing as the longer silence ensued. Perhaps it was a sensitive topic. At the same time, Filippa couldn't help but want to know more. She had a feeling it was something that Adelaide had never told her before.

"What happened while I wasn't with you?"

Leoric was having the time of his life. Though he had to compose himself or he would not be worthy of his title. He didn't understand what was the point of instilling fear in the people. Unfortunately, he couldn't demand a fight with the king.

He saw the hallways crowded with people and took the initiative that the classes were over for today. After retrieving his backpack, he went to search for his sister since the carriage must have arrived by now. The only problem was that he had no clue as to where she could be.

This was going to be a long day.
