"Husband? How is that possible?" Misha widened her eyes in disbelief.
"Gosh, Hubby! Didn't you say you wanted to go shopping with me? Let's go." Laurie tugged at Claude's arm coquettishly.
Claude felt that half of his arm freezing up. He nodded dumbly and then left with Laurie stiffly.
Misha looked at the two of them furiously, then stomped her feet and followed them.
"You only got married, isn't it? What's there to be gleeful about?" She followed closely behind them, completely forgetting that she had arranged to meet Della today.
Della's family had already received a lawyer's letter. Della was even taken to the police station for questioning. However, Claude was fully responsible for all this and he did not tell Laurie.
The couple walked all the way to a luxury store before Claude made a turn and led Laurie inside that store.
Laurie tugged at Claude's sleeve a little guiltily and whispered, "Aren't you buying a suit? Why are you here?"
It was an internationally renowned first-tier luxury brand store. Even buying a bag required the customer to meet the minimum cumulative amount of spending. As an unemployed person, Laurie could not afford to shop here.
However, Claude's thinking was very simple. He remembered that when he was young, his mother would be happy every time she came to this shop to buy something. He also wanted to let Laurie buy something and maybe that would make her happy?
Misha saw the two of them enter the luxury store and felt a little overwhelmed by envy.
She heard that Laurie's husband was a soldier. Even if he had some money, surely he couldn't afford the things here, could he?
However, when she saw Claude's handsome face, Misha felt that he could not fake such nobility.
She gritted her teeth and followed them into the store.
"Sir, Madam, what do you wish to buy?"
The store staff flashed the two of them a flawless smile, which made Laurie a little uncomfortable.
Didn't they say that the staff working at luxury counters were very arrogant?
"Go and choose. Just take whatever you like." Claude sat on the sofa in the middle and gestured with his chin.
This statement stunned both Laurie and Misha.
Laurie only had one thought. What was he pretending to be? She couldn't even afford a bag with the money she had now, okay?
Whereas Misha was thinking, "Could it be that Laurie really found a concealed rich man?"
The store staff smiled and introduced the products to Laurie respectfully. "Ma'am, would you like to take a look at this year's latest designs for the bags? We happen to have two new designs in the store today."
Misha was very resentful. She had asked Anna to give her a new bag before, but when she came, she couldn't even see the bag because their accumulated total spending did not qualify them to buy this bag.
Why should Laurie get the new bag design the moment she stepped in here?
"Why right does she have to get the new designs? Didn't you say that I can't buy the bag because my accumulated total spending wasn't enough the last time I was here?"
Misha's expression was not pleasant, and the store staff did not give her a friendly look either.
"Your accumulated total spending is indeed not enough. Only VIP customers can get the new designs. You can accumulate your spending amount first."
Misha choked on this reply.
She bit her lips in anger and stopped talking.
At this moment, Laurie didn't want to embarrass Claude, so she pretended to look at a few bags. When she found out the price, she forcefully suppressed her shock so that she didn't exclaim loudly.
One bag cost her two months' salary, and this was the cheapest one!
"If you can't afford it, it's still good to take a look." Misha also pretended to look at a scarf to preserve her dignity. "I don't think there's anything I like about the new designs. I'll just take a scarf first. Pack it up for me."
Although she felt a little uncomfortable hearing Misha's taunting, Laurie didn't spite her own wallet just to fight for her pride.
"Hubby, I'm hungry. Let's go eat first."
Laurie thought that it was okay to run away now. Anyway, Misha had laughed at her more than once or twice.
To her surprise, Claude stood up and pointed at the two bags Laurie had just seen. Then, he pointed at the two bracelets and said, "Pack these and the two new bags you mentioned just now."
Upon hearing his words, the store staff nodded with a fulsome smile and hurriedly went to pack the items.
Meanwhile, Laurie kept blinking and gesturing to Claude with her eyes, indicating to him not to act on impulse.
Laurie felt like her eyes were about to pop out from all the glaring, but Claude was still unmoved.
When she heard that the final sum was almost a million, not only did Laurie not dare to believe it, Misha was also stunned.
"Pay by card." Claude casually took out a card from his pants pocket.
The staff member smiled as she took the card and completed the transaction.
Claude then held Laurie's hand. "What are you waiting for? Aren't you hungry?"
