I just sighed and sat down next to Professor Zaiden. He was sitting on the couch, watching the twins who were sound asleep. I would move them later because they always woke up at midnight.
"Laurene, are you okay?" Professor Zaiden asked, looking at me seriously.
"Yes, I'm okay. Just a bit confused," I replied, looking at my children.
"If you need help, I'm here," he said, holding my hand.
I smiled and nodded. "Thank you, Prof. I know I can face everything. Of course, I have to protect someone now."
He looked at me and smiled. "I know that too. You can do it, Laurenestine." We both looked at our hands holding each other. Prof immediately withdrew his hand, embarrassed.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to touch you," he said, blushing and clearing his throat.
"Ah, it's not a problem, Prof. Zaiden," I replied, trying to hold back a smile. I felt a bit shy too, but I ignored it.
