They were now in the corridor of the ground floor. They ran with all their might. Raiden had taken the lead. Takeshi was just behind him, carrying Chido on his shoulders. Makie clung to Takeshi's shirt, she didn't look anywhere and blindly followed Takeshi's lead.
They all just wanted to leave the damn school's building. But, it wasn't going to be that easy as multiple Flesh-Eating Monsters stood in between their path in the corridor.
Raiden charged toward them with his wooden sword. He swung and struck the first monster that had come in his way. He pushed the monster to his left and went ahead from the gap that had been made in the right. Takeshi followed him through that gap along with Chido and Makie clung to him.
Raiden could see even more of those monsters up ahead but he wasn't sure if he could handle them if they all attacked him at once. The most Raiden could do was to push one of them to the other side and run through the gap. But, if they all attacked him together he won't be able to hold on to that many.
He again pushed the alone standing monster towards the wall and ran past him, followed by Takeshi, Chido, and Makie. The monsters after getting hit by Raiden's sword, stumbled on the floor once but got up immediately afterwards and followed his group after they had passed them.
The monsters came from behind and were coming from ahead too. If something had not been done, they would have no place to run anymore and eventually, will end by getting chewed up by the monsters.
But, Raiden saw a gate up ahead in the corridor. The group of monsters had not reached that door, but they were about to.
"That door," Raiden said.
"Yes, that looks like the only place we can hide right now," Takeshi replied.
Raiden increased his speed to reach that door before the group of the monsters.
Takeshi tried to hurry too but couldn't as he had the weight of Chido on his shoulder.
Raiden finally reached the door and opened it immediately. He looked behind and saw Takeshi dragging Chido's body over his shoulder. He looked to the other side and saw the group of monsters were about to reach the door too.
Raiden looked at Takeshi again and shouted, "Maki, stop being useless and give a hand to Takeshi! Hurry up if you don't wanna die"
The word "die" pierced through Makie's ears and she snapped out of her helpless state. For the first time, she noticed what was going on around her. She looked ahead and saw the whole group of monsters coming towards them, there was no escape from behind either. They were again trapped between two different hordes of those monsters.
"What the hell?" she screamed out in fear.
"What are you doing? Hurry up!" Raiden shouted.
Makie finally noticed Raiden standing by the gate and also noticed Chido almost being carried by Takeshi.
"Maki, if you have time to look around, it would be a lot better to give me a hand," Takeshi called out.
"Y-Y-Yes!" she hurried and quickly got a hold of Chido's second shoulder.
They hurried towards the door where Raiden was standing. The group of monsters was close to reaching the door.
Chido was almost unconscious, Takeshi and Makie had to drag him all the way.
They finally reached the door but so did the group of the monsters.
Takeshi and others were about to enter the door but one of the monsters from the group jumped ahead towards them. They saw the upcoming but couldn't do anything to stop him. They were defenseless and handicapped by having Chido on their shoulders.
Raiden dashed ahead from the side with his sword and struck that monster in the head, deflecting him to the other side, "Hurry up!" he shouted.
Takeshi already knew it and had dashed inside the door along with Makie and Chido. Raiden got himself in too and closed the doors.
It was a close call, as the monster had reached the door by the time Raiden had closed it.
Makie took a deep breath in hopes of they were going to be safe in that room. But what she had hoped for was wrong as the big group of monsters outside their door desperately tried to break through and get inside. They were huge in number and their strength was not normal either so breaking through a door wasn't going to be a big task for them.
On top of all the worries, that room which they had entered had no other exits. Means they were trapped again.
As soon as Makie realized that, words automatically came out of her mouth.
"Oh no!" and her face became like she was about to cry. She had lost all her hopes.
"If you have time to sit on the floor and remorse then instead give us a hand," Raiden said as he carried a big bookshelf to the door with Takeshi's help. They put down that big shelf against the door.
Takeshi came over to Makie, he offered her a hand and said, "Didn't I tell you? We are not gonna die today, in this school."
Makie was surprised by both of these guys' spirit of not giving up in any condition. Now, she felt they could survive even if the situation had gotten this worse. She grabbed Takeshi's hand and stood up.
"Enough chit-chat and help me carry this shelf over to the gate," Raiden said as he made an effort to carry the shelf alone.
Both of them helped Raiden and blocked the door with multiple shelves and other things. It had become a lot harder for the group of monsters to break through that tough defense. But, they still kept on trying to get into the door.
Those three sat on the floor beside Chido. He now laid on the floor, unconscious.
"He had lost a lot of blood," Raiden said.
"Yeah," Makie said as she was wrapping cloth on Chido's head which she had found in that room. "We have to give him medical treatment or things could go worse."
"Well the worst that could happen right now is those guys breaking through the door and entering the room," Raiden remarked.
"Shut up, Raiden," Makie said with anger.
"Oof."
Suddenly they all heard a loud scream coming from above.
"What the hell-?" Makie tried to yell out but Raiden blocked her mouth with his hand.
'This loud scream came from above?' Raiden though. 'But there was no one above us?'
Raiden was confused. The sudden scream didn't make any sense to him… until when he was hit with the realization.
'There is no one above us…. Except for the people on the roof!'
