Chapter 002~ Espinas

As the Gomez family was preparing for dinner they heard a knock on the door.

"Who could that be knocking on the door at this unfortunate time", wondered Elena.

Mamí walked to the door with the oven mitt still in her hands. As she opened the door she smiled. There stood Luis, the servant's son. Oh, how Elena loved Luis and how he loved her. She loved everything about him. Luis had dark, brown, curly hair and a strong jawline sharp enough to cut you. He had a strong masculine physique. She wanted to be with him but she knew her family would never agree to her marrying a servant.

"Hi, Mrs. Gomez. I was working on the fence down at the edge of the rancho and I smelled the amazing smell of fresh cooked tamales and wondered if I may have one or two", said Luis. He blushed when he saw Elena staring at him intently.

" Oh sure Luis come right in. Help yourselves to as many as you would like. Make sure to bring some back home with you to your mamí and papí", said Mamí.

"I will", said Luis, gratefully.

After dinner, Elena offered to walk with Luis to his casa. Since Elena had just turned 17 her mother agreed. Elena's mother was a bit protective at some times. She knew Elena could be taken from her. Elena had beautiful long, brown, hair that curled at the ends, she had the perfect body, and she had these piercing jade eyes, and on top dimples to go along with that perfect, pearly smile.

As Elena was walking home with Luis she stopped and made him face her.

" I love you, Luis", said Elena.

" I love you too", said Luis, blushing a little bit.

Elena reached for his hand, she gazed into his eyes and Luis leaned forward. At that moment Elena let her body take control she stood on her tip toes. He lifted her up and their lips touched. She had never kissed anyone before but it felt so natural. She could feel the passion he had bottled up inside of him for so long. As they parted, Elena burried her face into the crook of his neck. Luis was so happy. Elena knew she had to be with him. She made a plan on her 18th birthday they would run away. Elena would take all the money from her

chest that was located under a floorboard in her room. They would gather food, blankets, pillows. They would then take her Palomino horse, Rey. They would go wherever they wanted and do whatever they wish and most importantly they would have each other.
