Confession!!!

Chapter 18: Confession!!!

Kendra followed Lancelot like a confused puppy following its master to a secluded location.

After they got there, Lancelot sat down on a water bench that was floating around and offered for Kendra to sit as well, which she did.

'She looked so beautiful under the influence of the ocean.Her face shone and dazzled, every aspect of her was stunning even the garment she wore brought out her curves in such a manner that made men drool'

This thought paraded the mind of Lancelot as he reached out and held her hand again.

"please don't withdraw your hand from me" he said with passion shining in his eyes.

She conceded with deep curiosity erupting in her.

Lancelot then began to speak;

"l want to thank you for rescuing me, without you I'd be lost or dead along with my sister. l..." as he spoke, his heartbeat was speeding up increasingly.

He had to calm himself down and regain his composure before continuing to speak softly;

"You've stirred up feelings in me, I know a lot of differences between us are there but I don't care, I want to be by your side always and be your man, every waking moment, I want to spend it with you. My heart yearns for you as a fish yearns for water, I love you Kendra".

Kendra was taken aback by this declaration.

She blushed slightly as she could sense the sincerity in his voice.

She could see that he meant his words and every sentence came with a deep desire. She then looked towards him and asked;

"Lancelot, why would you have feelings for me?" Kendra's question came with a positive feeling.

Lancelot was a little happy that she didn't reject him outrightly. However, despite that, he was confused as to how to answer the question.

He caressed her hands this time making her realize that he was still holding her hand.

She didn't struggle free but contrarily, she allowed him to hold on to it.

"I cant explain it either, but I feel butterflies in my stomach every time I look at you, my heart longs for you so much so, I never want to leave you for a second..." Lancelot responded.

Kendra smiled bitterly as memories rushed through her mind and tears welled up in her eyes as she spoke;

"l have only known pain when it comes to love, 1 500 years ago, I loved a man once, he was from the great Kalliester family of the air nation known as Paige Kalliester."

"At the time, we would sneak to meet each other secretly as love was forbidden between nations, a mixed breed was not allowed."

"'If any child were to be given birth to from such union, the child would be immediately burnt to ashes."

"'l loved him so much, I was willing to sacrifice anything for him, little did I know that his lust for power greatly outweighed the little affection he had for me, overtime when he started to conquer each nation, he started to grow in rage."

"Eventually, he lost affection for me, at the time I still opened the borders of the water nation for him to sneak in."

"One night he came with an army and wiped out about half the water nation members sparing a few weaklings, the elderly and myself as the only young woman amongst them."

"l couldn't comprehend why he would cause me so much pain. I wept bitterly for betraying my tribe and causing such a death toll, I devoted myself to becoming stronger, this was the reason I killed so many air nation members that led to the legend of Kendra you know of today, it wasn't for nobility or strength but betrayal and pain and revenge."

"As it turns out, there was a bigger force at play which I'm still trying to figure out. However the point is apart from the fact that I'm 2046 years old, I don't have that love to give to a young boy of 19 years, my heart has been burning with hatred for so long it feels alien to feel love."

"l don't want to injure your heart and try looking beyond this face, I am just an old soul. Thank you for the show of affection, I think you'd fare better with your age mates".

Kendra smiled and touched Lancelot's face tenderly before retrieving her hand and getting up to leave.

Lancelot sat there stupefied from the revelation he just received. Suddenly, he discovered that so many questions were answered.

He understood quite a lot from the explanation but he had to break out of his myriad of rampaging thoughts as he dashed towards Kendra, hugging her tightly from behind, nudging his face on the side of her head.

She was caught off guard with that abrupt intense show of affection by Lancelot.

Kendra's tears dropped faster onto Lancelot's hands which were around her waist.

"Until you're able to love again, I won't give up

on you", Lancelot spoke so softly, the wind carried it like a gentle breeze.

Kendra stood, rooted to the spot unable to move, her heart was melted by that single display by Lancelot, she didn't know what to do.

She loved the warmth he had given to her, but her mission was still as clear as daylight in her mind.

After a while, she turned around to look into

Lancelot's eyes, like a woman staring into the eye of a lover, she then spoke softly; "If you can avenge me of the death of my people, I will give you a chance."

She said softly between sobs.

Lancelot was so happy. He stood stupefied, He knelt on a knee as if genuflecting to a higher authority, and spoke;

'l wont rest till I have accomplished that which

I set to do"

He bowed genuinely and arose to kiss Kendra

on the cheek softly, before he turned and went away.

Kendra could not hide her smile as he walked out, she felt warmth spread through her icy cold heart.

She had hidden her emotions well up to this point but Lancelot had managed to reveal every single aspect of it.

She had taken to him the way he has to her, but she couldn't let it show.

Her mission was too important, but now that, she had managed to gain an understanding with a man she was starting to trust and believe in, she felt really happy.
