2/6/23 Regionals Prelims

We started off with our normal warm up which is a 400 4x75 k dr sw 1:30 8x25 build reverse build :30 6x25 turns from the middle 4x25 hammer down kick :45 200 easy then dives after whenever it started. I put on my tech suit before dives and omg it was so tight. I literally wore one two weeks ago but I forgot how tight and uncomfortable it was. I got it on easily since I wore a bigger size today, but tomorrow in finals I'm wearing a 24 instead of the 26 I wore today.

My first race. 100 fly. Not very good but I dropped time and made B finals. I went a 55.75. I didn't feel really tired after my race, so I'm thinking I can go out faster tomorrow at finals. Hopefully. I forgot everything I was supposed to think about during my race. While warming up for my race, I was thinking of doing a lot of fast underwaters and fast turns and fast tempo, but when I swam my race, I thought about nothing and had slow turns and slow underwaters lol. It was great!

Next race my 100 back. It was definitely an experience. I made A finals with a 55.69. I attacked it right from the start and went out in like a 26.8. I definitely could've pushed it a little more, but I came back like I usually did which is a 28.8 which is good. I believe I can go out faster and come back faster tomorrow. If I'm feeling good. It was a good race though; I dropped some time.

Last race, the 400 free relay. It was really fun, especially being in the last event and last heat. I was so ready to finish and take my tech suit off. The whole relay dropped a total of 6 seconds WOOOOO. Beckett went 51.53 leading off the relay which is super fast considering he had a slow start. Then it was alan who went 51.50 as a second leg, nigel 51.91 as the third leg which was the slowest, and I went 50.84 as the anchor. I felt really tired during and after my race, but I felt good. My coach was happy I attacked the swim from the start and kept attacking it throughout it. It was a great day 1 at regionals.
