Intruders And The Magic Research Club

After I took out the guy with the rifle who entered our club everyone seemed to be surprised by how quick I shot him down. Of course I was worried about my cover being blown at this point but surprisingly that wasn't the case.

"I guess those VR games really paid off." Surprised Sylve.

"That was awesome Bea!" Mia is mesmerized by it.

"I guess you will lead the way, Beatrix." Suggested Hailey.

"I was about to ask that but sure. Also I can use my Body magic to enhance my durability. Hopefully that could stop bullets." I replied.

"In theory, it is possible that you can convert your mana into some kind of armor." Sylve thought about it.

"I guess right now I feel a bit more secure after trying to imagine it from my head." I responded.

"That works I guess." Elizabeth replied.

"Anyways, let's get everyone out of here. And take out as many of them as possible. Remember to aim for the head to knock them out." Sylve reminded us.

We grouped together as we went outside of the club room checking each corner. Some of the remaining students started running all over Hailey and Sylve helped them escape while Mia handled some of the injured students that tripped over.

"Contact! Contact!" Shouted one of the armed men.

"Be careful guys, bad guys around the corner!" Elizabeth spotted the intruders.

I peeked at the corner and immediately shot back on them. Taking out 3 of the 5 men out there.

Live ammunition is no joke against our magic bullets. I managed to put down rounds and took out the majority of them.

"That was some nice shooting." Hailey complimented.

"Well I have to use whatever I learned from that game I guess." I replied.

"How's the others Sylve?" Asked Elizabeth.

"Mia's been helping them heal up with a basic healing spell I taught her." Sylve replied.

"Great, let's keep it up and bring students to safety as much as possible. Sooner or later they'll overrun us." I told them we have to move now.

After this we gathered as many students that got left behind in the panic on the 2nd floor. I started to wonder how the heck did Sylve and Hailey get their hands into weapons like this in the first place?

Not that it's bad or anything. It's just wild to see weapons made in this very school. Got to put credit where credit's due. They made some really accurate firearms.

Me, Elizabeth, and Hailey are leading the pack. Taking down as many intruders as we could. Sylve already called the authorities for help and seems like they're gonna be here in a few minutes.

"How long do you guys think we can hold them off?" Asked Elizabeth.

"At this rate we might run out of mana. Before we could take them all out since we're still new to this usage. Combat magic is still pretty new for us." Hailey replied.

We fought off as many as we could in the remaining floors. We were physically tired by that point. Well to my friends that is, I can still fight but them… I don't think they could fight much longer. Sylve and Mia are tired from casting healing magic on the injured students already.

When we reached the teachers area. We saw someone guiding us to the room. Seems like it's our school nurse.

"Let's head to the School Nurse's office." I suggested.

"Alright, we need some time to breathe for now." Tired Hailey replied.

Soon after helping them towards the nurse's office…

"Seems like you kids were handling the rescue operations." The nurse helped Sylve and Mia's fatigued body to the beds.

"We're just doing what we could to this school." Hailey replied.

"I mean I can't deny that since you're in the Magic Research Club." The nurse replied as she was pouring some kind of medicine on a cup.

"How did you know we were in that club?" Asked Elizabeth.

"You think there's any other club here that can make guns and not worry about the school finding out?" The nurse replied.

"Heh, we're not really that above the school you know." Sylve embarrassingly replied.

"Who are you anyways?" I asked.

"I'm the school nurse. My name is Claire, and everyone here has a cup. Drink up you'll need it." She introduced herself as Claire as she passed around the cups with the medicine.

"What's this?" Elizabeth asked.

"It's something of a thank you for helping the kids around." Claire replied.

"This has magic in it. I think..." Sylve pointed it out.

"Exactly, that's why you kids need it. Just drink it and go handle the rest of them. They won't stop hurting those kids unless you move out there." Claire insisted.

"If you say so." Elizabeth drinks it first and her eyes wide open.

"Elizabeth, how are you doing?" Asked Hailey.

"Actually, I feel pretty good. Feels like my fatigue disappeared." Elizabeth was surprised by the results.

"What is this anyways?" I asked.

"It's something of a concoction I've been mastering for a while now. Quick Recovery Potions, neat right?" Claire replied.

"Wait Miss Claire you're a mage as well?" Hailey was shocked.

"You took that long to realize it." Claire sighed.

"Sylve, tell me you didn't know this." Hailey looks at Sylve as she looks away while drinking.

"Sure as heck it's effective." I'm surprised by her abilities.

She seems like a normal person to me. I don't feel a threat from her anyways. And yet she has this unusual feeling about her, I just can't put my finger on it.

"What are you gonna do now Miss Claire?" Asked Mia.

"Oh, I'll just be here. Don't mind me." Claire replied without thinking.

"Are you sure about this?" Elizabeth asked as we all stood up at the same time after taking a break.

"Oh I'm very much sure about this." Claire happily replies.

"We'll be going then." Hailey says her goodbyes as she takes point outside.

"You kids be safe out there. And also Miss Beatrix… Just have fun out there." Claire smugly remarks.

I nodded in response and left the nurse's office along with the others. I still have a lot of questions about this school and the weird behavior that I am experiencing. I can't tell if this school is even a normal school.

After we left the nurse's office the PA system suddenly started playing classical pieces. Seems like I feel something upon hearing the music. The others seem to enjoy the music to calm their nerves.

But I feel more than just calming music. This school just keeps getting more mysterious each time I step inside. And thus we continued our assault taking down as many intruders on the right wing of the building and we gained a lot of ground.

Surprisingly none of the students had been hurt yet but these guys kept shooting towards them. So these guys aren't out of the question of being terrorists and shooting innocent students.

I can sense magic around us right now. But I still don't feel any threatening presence out here. Damn that nurse, she might be something else if she's pulling all of the strings here.

"Hailey, more students on the left, be careful where you shoot!" I shouted.

"Got it." Hailey focused on shooting the moving targets.

"Mia, guide the others to the exit." Sylve as she's patching up some injured students.

"Sure thing I'll handle the injuries here, let's switch first." Mia suggested.

We're a pretty decent team out here. Me, Hailey, and Elizabeth taking care of taking down the intruders. Sylve and Mia handling the injured and confused.

Despite this they're pretty much rookies in the field. Then again I can't go full power here or I'll blow my cover. I have to limit myself to a believable level for them to understand where I know about combat.

Then again I still have that robot outside the courtyard to worry about. Mom, I hope you have things under control outside...

"How many more do you guys think we have to take down?" Asked Elizabeth.

"I can only spot a few more left on the central wing of the school." Hailey replied.

"How do you detect them anyways?" Mia wondered.

"I'm just applying what I've learned in the archives of the club. There's a study there that says every being on this earth has a presence of some kind. Despite not everyone being born in a mage family or has influence with magic.

Everyone has a place in the world of magic and each person has a unique presence. Our predecessors calls this spell, Presence Detection. It's originally a soul-type magic but then they figured out that every kind of mage can use it as long as they have a high affinity for magic from the get go." Hailey explained Presence Detection.

Why does it feel like I've been using that spell my entire life. I doubt it but it could be possible. Spells are meant to be passed down and taught around to keep it alive. Why am I so overwhelmed by mere coincidences right now…

Everything is just going too well for us. I feel something's super off about this school and this mission.

Despite this we managed to retake control and balance at the school and saved a lot of students from getting hurt.

Meanwhile outside…

"Hey, took you a while to finish that one robot. Are you becoming rusty now?" Asked the girl.

"Claire, it's been a while." Exia turned around.

"Yeah, it has been a long time since we last saw each other." Claire replied as she started a cigarette.

"Can I have a request for you Claire?" Exia asked.

"Yeah? What is it?" Claire replied as she puffs out a smoke.

"It's just a small request." Said Exia.

The robot was handled by Exia without breaking a sweat. But to her surprise to see a familiar face after a decade.

Thanks for picking up the newest chapter of my book!
