Rakesh sat at his computer in his office, staring blankly at the screen. His body released a yawn for the umpteenth time as he mindlessly clicked keys and opened programs and closed tabs. Emails sailed by his eyes and barely registered into his brain, if at all. The only thing he was actually able to retain in some form were the messages that he was able to begin with “Per my last email”. While he derived some sliver of joy from being able to toss a little sass back at various snarky employees, it just wasn’t enough for him. None of it was. With every email he read, every tab that was opened or closed, every task that he had completed, he felt nothing but emptiness.
‘I don’t understand. I actually used to enjoy doing this. I used to live for the routine and the normalcy of my life. What happened?’
