The vibrating sound of Ina's mobile phone on the room's Lamp table woke her. She looked at her phone and the first thing she was met with was several text messages from her second candidate whom she was meant to have breakfast with that morning.
"I slept for too she said casually swiping through her notifications, it was already twelve in the afternoon.
She removed Tokoni's had which was still wrapped around her waist as she made her way out of the room.
"Good afternoon ma." She was greeted by one of her maid as soon as she came out of the room.
She nodded in response and head towards her own room.
She took her bath as fast as she could because she was already running late; not for the breakfast date but for her visit to the Orphanage home.
She had planned to pay a visit to her special children as soon as her breakfast ends with the second candidate but she had slept off instead.
"Babe." Tokoni called as she walked into Ina's room.
"Where are you going to?" She asked groggily.
"I'm going to work." Ina replied as she buckled the belt of her sandal heels.
She checked herself again in the mirror before leaving her room, with Tokoni tagging behind her.
"Wait for me I want to follow you"
"Tokoni you haven't had your bath and I'm late already."
"I promise I won't take time." She said quickly ran to her room.
A few minutes later Tokoni came back fully dressed like she was going for a party.
"Are you sure you want to follow me like that?" Ina asked as she stare Tokoni up and down.
She was putting on a micro gown with exposed back and thin shoulder strips.
"Yes what's wrong."
" I wouldn't wear that if I was you. There are mosquitoes where we're going besides you won't be able to walk in your twelve inches heels" Ina said out of concern
"I'm allergic to mosquitoes, and my heels wouldn't be a problem I'm used to wearing them."
"Why are you taking the shabby car."
"Security reasons Tokoni."
"Whatever." Tokoni slapped on her sunglasses with a smirk as entered the car.
The journey to the orphanage home wasn't as long as Ina had imagined it would be. The road was not as jam packed as it usually was so they arrived at their destination on time.
"Where are we?" Tokoni was confused at the sight of the unfamiliar location she was at, when Ina said she was going to work she had thought it was her main or other company, not this incomplete building in a bushy area.
"Special children's home." Ina said as she hop out of the car in amusement.
As soon as they entered the compound they were greeted and warmly welcomed by the workers they first met.
"How is the place going ?" She asked, although she could see there had been some progress on the building, she wanted to confirm from the house mistress.
"There has been a huge progress ma, building A has been completed so we're currently working on building B." The woman said in happily.
Just a month ago the house had collapsed luckily for them none of the children were harmed.
The Orphanage home happened to be a NGO and the founder of the organization had gotten old so she could no longer take care of the children.
Ina had the children moved to a temporary shelter while their home is being repaired.
"I'm glad there is a big progress, in about a month or so everything should ready." She said with contempt.
"Yes ma."
"Babe when are we leaving here? I can't stand the mosquitoes anymore." Tokoni complained as she scratches the spot she had just felt a mosquito bite.
"I warned you."
"I didn't know you were being serious. When did you start working in a place like this?" Tokoni knows literally everything about Ina except this new project of hers.
"Not long ago."
"Whatever let's leave soon I can't stand this pain, if the mosquitoes are this much how will the children survive?" Tokoni asked in concern.
"We're working on that. As soon as the building is completed, mosquito nets will be installed and the area will be fumigated. Also the bushes surrounding the area will be cleared." Ina explained.
"Mrs Athena, could you please bring my sister some mosquito repellent and a cover cloth?" Ina asked the house mistress who quickly went inside and came back with a clean cloth and small plastic tube containing the repellent cream.
Tokoni took the items from the woman unhappily, she didn't want to use the cover cloth but she had no choice.
Unlike her, Ina put on an overall gown, a pair of short heels and skin socks. The only exposed part of her body was her face.
"Take apply it for me" Tokoni handed over the cream to Ina who in turn rubbed her exposed body with the cream.
"How long are we staying here I really want to go." Tokoni complained again, she had barely spent one hour at the site and she was already complaining.
"Okay fine let me just say hi to the children then we'll leave."
Mrs Athena took both Ina and Tokoni to where the children were. As soon as they saw her they ran to her in pure excitement— One would think she was their long lost mother if they saw the way the children were happy to see her.
"Mummy." One of the children called stretching her hand towards Ina to be carried, of course Ina didn't hesitate to carry the little girl in her arms.
"Babe you've said hi to them can we go now." Tokoni asked asked impatiently, as she tried to avoid the crowd of kids swimming towards her.
"Hmm"
Ina put down the little girl in her arms and bid the children farewell, she didn't want to leave them and they didn't want her to leave either but Tokoni was already getting impatient and angry probably due to the amount of painful sores she got from the mosquitoe bites earlier.
"Madam we really appreciate your contribution, the children are happy too. Thank you so much ma." The house mistress said as she accompanied Ina and the rest to where they parked their car.
"You don't have to call me madam, I prefer Rita" Ina said as she wasn't comfortable with the older woman referring to her with so much respect.
The woman struggled a bit but she gave in eventually.
As soon as they got into the car Tokoni finally found peace.
"Your name is not Rita why did you lie." Tokoni asked.
"Security reasons, it's better not to be known by too many people."
No one would think the richest person would be going about in a simple car with three casual looking men whom she introduces as her biological brothers.
"I'm going on a date by the way. I'll have have scot drive you home as soon as we arrive at the boutique— I need a change of clothes." She said as she relaxed her head on the head board.
"Why are you going on a date again." Tokoni grumbled with dissatisfaction.
"Don't be a kid you know why"
"Whatever do what you want."
