24 Chapter 24 Sand Council

Sunagakure.

Kazekage Building.

Kazekage Office.

In the spacious office with three statues of all the kazekage standing tall was a big round table in the middle with twelve chairs around it.

All the seats were currently occupied as at the prominent spot sat third kazekage donning the white haori and green hat, on his left chiyo and on his right sat a man with facial features a lot similar to chiyo.

He seemed around the same age as her as well, late forties and had jet black hair sticking out of the turban on his head and on his neck a black scarf.

Ebizo, the younger brother of Chiyo and the greatest mind of Sunagakure.

On the rest of the chairs sat veteran jonin who had served the village for a long time, and were all known as "Seniors".

This was the sand council and usually it was led by Ebizo but today with the presence of Kazekage it was natural for Ebizo to give the honors to kazekage.

BANG!!!!

"I'd rather face ten of us then one konoha, Damn Hanzo!! How dare he still act so high and mighty after going back on his words!!!"

An unsealed scroll was placed before Kazekage, Chiyo and Ebizo as Chiyo reading the contents couldn't hold back her anger and punching the table, few cracks appearing on it.

The scroll had the news brought back from the messenger who went to Amegakure for explanation regarding the betrayal.

Kazekage who usually stayed level headed also had nerves visible on his forehead, his body shaking from anger and barely keeping himself controlled.

The seniors around leaned forward to pick the scroll and read the whole content of the scroll.

"Hanzo!!! Is he out of his mind!!!?"

"This is unbearable!!!"

All seniors fumed with anger after reading the contents, they were being taken too lightly by Hanzo and his words were too anger arousing.

He was clearly humiliating Sunagakure.

"Everyone calm down! It's not the time to act on emotions"

The only one truly calm in the office was Ebizo, although as a Sand Shinobi he felt angry at Hanzo's words as well but with his sharp mind he knew there must be a reason behind this behavior of Hanzo.

Hanzo who was enthusiastic to join hands with them suddenly showed this much disdain towards Sunagakure, he believed something must have happened.

There must be an explanation but Hanzo refused to tell them for some reason.

"Please try to think why would Hanzo destroy the Tanzaku bridge if he didn't really plan to cooperate with us? He basically cut off his way to invade Land of Fire."

"Do you really think he'll go to that length just to anger us?"

Ebizo shed light to important actions taken by Hanzo that were inconsistent with his current words.

The words said by Ebizo worked like magic and the angry faces were replaced by enlightened looks, as what he pointed out was truly something worth thinking a lot on.

Kazekage was the same as until now he didn't truly think about it this way, the frustration from all that happened making him unable to do so.

"We have suffered enough in the recent battle so we can't just blindly fight Amegakure when we already are fighting Konoha"

"I suggest we ignore the betrayal of Amegakure for now and focus solely on Konoha!"

Seeing everyone calming down, Ebizo put forward his suggestion as knowing the current situation of the village he knew they couldn't afford fighting two wars.

At his suggestion there was a long silence in the office, everyone had struggling faces as although now they do know that behind the betrayal of Hanzo there might truly be a reason but his words were truly like a knife.

But they also knew what Ebizo said about them not being able to fight two wars was true as well, they had to look at the bigger picture.

This war was waged against konoha so they can't withdraw from it as well and focus on Amegakure as the public opinion will be too much for them to handle.

Ha...

"Amegakure will pay for its arrogance but as Ebizo-San mentioned; we have to concentrate on Konoha for now and think about how to shift the balance of the war in our favor!"

Taking a deep breath and swallowing his anger, Kazekage acting rationally decided to do what was important and left the matter of Amegakure for later.

"Um!"

Chiyo and the seniors all showed great patience and agreed with the decision of Kazekage, understanding their momentary desire for vengeance against Hanzo would only harm the village and them.

"Kazekage-Sama! The reason why we allied with Amegakure was because we all knew just alone it was not possible to defeat Konoha!"

"First of all we can't outnumber them as the total shinobi they possess are at least more than three times than us"

"Secondly if we talk about high end combat power, even without Uchiha, Hyuga and Third Hokage participating we are barely able to match them"

"The reason we jumped into the war was because Amegakure and Kirigakure had attacked Konoha as well, but both of them has seemingly stepped out of the war"

"Just how can we defeat Konoha alone?"

The seniors put some serious facts before Kazekage which were impossible to ignore and had to be talked on before they could even talk about attacking Konoha again.

The kazekage hearing the facts was silent, with his hand on his chin madly thinking of a way to deal with konoha.

If Sand stepped out of the war the Kazekage will be blamed the most for the loss.

Even if sand loses he didn't want to lose before doing any serious damage to konoha.

"I have two suggestions to deal with the concerns put before by Seniors!"

"Please Ebizo-San!"

But just when Kazekage was still thinking of a way, Ebizo next to him seemed to have come up with not just one but two ways, Kazekage immediately asking him to speak politely.
