Chapter 61: From the Perspective of an Observer
There is no absolute right or wrong in the world, only different perspectives.
Under the light, Ryosuke sat at the desk where his father usually worked. His fingers pressed on the scroll, sliding down as he read. He didn't know when it started, but he got used to looking at things from a bystander's perspective. This allowed him to understand the essence of things more clearly and make corresponding correct judgments based on his own situation.
As the Hokage of the village, Sarutobi Hiruzen made many decisions, some good and some bad. He made the decision to sacrifice the lives of a few people in exchange for victory in the war. There have also been cases where some people led the village in a desperate battle, and even left a suicide note in advance, ready to sacrifice themselves. But if you look at his decisions from the perspective of an observer, from a perspective that does not know the outcome, in most cases they are made for the benefit of the village. Although these decisions may not necessarily be good things for the Hyuga.
However, these records are not complete. The victory or defeat of many battlefields always lacks an important part at the critical moment, a chip that can decide the outcome of the battle.
"It's been a wonderful life." Ryosuke read very quickly, and it took less than half an hour for him to finish reading word by word. It was a wealth of information, but he had memorized it all.
So what's next? He turned his eyes to the black scroll. In fact, he already knew who the person the scroll corresponded to without even opening it. After opening it, it was almost no surprise that the name corresponding to the scroll was Danzo Shimura.
This is a name that only a few people in the village remember. When most people hear this name, their first reaction is that of confusion because they don't know him. But if we talk in detail about the history of Konoha Village and the strong men who fought on the battlefields in the past, some people will probably remember his name and what he did.
If Sarutobi Hiruzen is a conservative person who considers issues from the perspective of the village, then Danzo Shimura is definitely a radical who is willing to put the village in an extremely dangerous environment in exchange for greater benefits. He is a very capable man, but also an extremely dangerous one.
Now placed on the other side of the desk is information about the recent extermination of the Uchiha clan. As someone who knows the future, Ryosuke is well aware that Danzo Shimura is behind this matter. The Uchiha were a major fighting force in the village, and even if they were unstable in the absence of major fighting forces within Konoha, Sarutobi Hiruzen would still try to consider ways to have the best of both worlds. But Danzo Shimura would not do that. He would not tolerate anything that was detrimental to the village. Since this fighting power is unstable, there is a high possibility that they will turn the tables if Konoha is in danger. So why not just clean up Konoha while it still has the strength?
Danzo Shimura doesn't seem to care about the impact on Konoha after losing this power. Judging from his past performance and what he might do in the future, Ryosuke believes that he may have a psychological problem. That is, as long as he is there, nothing will happen to Konoha. But he does have the capital to be arrogant.
By carefully reading Shimura Danzo's past, Ryosuke was able to match his intelligence information with many of the missing pieces in Sarutobi Hiruzen's data. From the late period of the First Shinobi World War, when Sarutobi Hiruzen took office as the Third Hokage, to the Second and Third Shinobi World Wars, these three wars affected the entire ninja world, and there were hundreds of battles of all sizes. And there were many battles in which Konoha should have lost, but was inexplicably won.
These processes were important bargaining chips that determined the outcome of the battle, but Ryosuke did not see them in Sarutobi Hiruzen's record scroll. However, he learned a lot from Shimura Danzo's record scroll, but many of them were disgraceful.
In the late period of the First Shinobi World War, after the sacrifice of the Second Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen took up the banner and joined forces with his contemporary partners Danzo Shimura, Mito Kado Homura, Utatane Koharu, Akimichi Tofu, and Uchiha Kagami to counterattack the Hidden Cloud Village. He eventually won the battle, establishing his own position and the temporary stability of Konoha Village.
During this war, Danzo Shimura used the lives and supplies of some Konoha ninjas to alienate the Kirigakure and Iwagakure, causing them to kill each other, leaving them no time to attack Konoha while they were at war with the Kumogakure. It was a strategy, but a dishonorable one, so he did not receive any reward or credit.
The Second Shinobi World War and the Third Shinobi World War, his shadow was behind the victory and end of these wars. He is like the dark side of Sarutobi Hiruzen, carrying all the negativity. So…he does have the capacity for arrogance. However, compared to Sarutobi Hiruzen who lives in the sun, there is very little information about Shimura Danzo.
Even the intelligence chain of two generations of the Hyuga clan was only collected in a little bit, so Ryosuke didn't actually know much, and couldn't be sure that his guess was correct. "This is the real ninja world..."
Compared to his memory, when he looked at the world from the perspective of the cheerful Naruto, what Ryosuke sees now is more comprehensive and more real. The statement that those who play politics are dirty is not just a casual remark.
Perhaps from the perspective of the civilians of Konoha Village, or those who are on the same path as Sarutobi Hiruzen and are willing to sacrifice everything for the village, Sarutobi Hiruzen is a good leader. His existence protects the interests of the majority of people and allows them to live in a relatively stable environment. But to those people and families whose interests have been violated or even whose lives have been endangered, he is a complete hypocrite. He is a person who only smiles brightly in front of most people.
However, Ryosuke could understand this point. After all, many things could not be completed taking everyone into consideration. As a leader, he could only choose the majority.
"It's much more complicated than I thought. Fortunately, I didn't get involved in this matter." After learning about these things, Ryosuke became more and more certain of the decision he made. Anyway, he was not familiar with the Uchiha clan. He had only met Uchiha Itachi a few times, and Uchiha Sasuke gave him a bad look every day.
Even if the Uchiha no longer posed a threat to the village, he had no intention of contacting the orphan Uchiha Sasuke. As for what he and Hiashi had always been worried about, that without the Uchiha as a check and balance, whether the Hyuga family would be suspected of being the only one in power, Ryosuke is not worried at all now.
I don't know if it's because I've been considering more and more things recently, but Ryosuke has become more and more familiar with looking at things from the perspective of an outsider. When he looked at the things he once worried about beyond his identity as a member of the Hyuga clan, they suddenly seemed less complicated.
For example, the current status of their Hyuga clan in the village.
