Chapter 1- Sakumo Hatake
In the 42nd year of Konoha's establishment, Hatake Sakumo died in his adobe from suicide.
Then… In the 47th year of Konoha's establishment, Hatake Sakumo was resurrected. Strange…..
Uchiha Kiyoshi could not believe what was happening. Just five years ago, he was attending the White Fang's funeral, with that somber mood and depressing atmosphere, mourning the loss of one of Konoha's heroes….
But right now, the one and only Hatake Sakumo stood in front of him, completely unscathed, and definitely not a dead corpse.
However, it seemed like Sakumo was even more confused than Kiyoshi…
Sakumo's brain was in turmoil, and he shook his head, not accepting the reality in front of him…
He looked around. It seemed that he was in a random small restaurant one would typically find in the borders of Konoha.
The lighting was quite nice and cozy, and the tables and chairs were in neat order, and a few potted plants scattered about. A thirteen to fourteen-year-old child stood in the room, looking at him with equally shocked eyes.
Sunlight scattered through the glass windows and the lively sounds of children playing outside could be clearly heard.
With a look of shock, he ran over to the window, looking out at Konohas many streets. Everything seemed normal, this was definitely not the underworld…..
"Strange…. I'm not dead?" Sakumo muttered to himself in confusion.
The last thing he remembered was that knife…. Bleeding crimson, as he fell to the floor, dead.
Then, his soul seemingly wandered to the pure land, away from that hatred and despair…
"Is this…. Edo Tensei?"
Sakumo remembered the forbidden technique created by the second Hokage, Tobirama Senju. An evil technique that could summon the soul of the dead back to the living. It was a complete violation of his morals and ethics.
He immediately backed away from the child, his eyes vigilant. Did it have something to do with this kid? But how could an ordinary civilian get his hands on a forbidden technique?
Kiyoshi sighed, shaking his head. Explaining this was going to be a completed pain…. Or in the words of one of his favorite characters from Naruto, a drag...
"Nope…. This is not Edo Tensei, it is the work of The Pure Land Gate."
(T/N: I honestly dunno. It should mean something from Buddhism… Not a Mandarin expert…)
"'The Pure Land Gate System'' was what Kiyoshi named this phenomenon that had occurred.
To pass away in this world, was to rid oneself of karma and in that, gain a new life.
Just yesterday, Kiyoshi's parents had died on the battlefield due to the Third Ninja War.
(T/N: That was abrupt....)
His parent's last wishes were for him to live peacefully and open a small restaurant in Konoha.
As he finished renovating and was about to reopen, some mystical crap happened, enveloping his restaurant.
(T/N: And how the hell did you see this mystical crap, you are a freaking civilian…. Maybe? Gotta read ahead...)
Then, the passage between the Pure Land and the Elemental Nations reopened, at this point, the Lotus Road Restaurant.
When a person dies, their soul will drift to the Pure Land, and with the existence of this gateway, or channel, Kiyoshi could drag souls out of the Underworld, sort of like fishing.
Simply put, he could resurrect people.
After that mystical system descended upon Kiyoshi, it gave him a "Novice Gift Package".
So the normal stuff.
With this Package, he had resurrected the White Fang, Hatake Sakumo.
"Uh… I have no idea…" Sakumo was indicating about Edo Tensei, as he only knew some things, having never seen anyone use it.
Kiyoshi was sort of stunned, but then again. As a traverser from another world, Edo Tensei was considered basic knowledge to any Naruto fan.
(T/N: They just tell that now for some reason…)
"Well, to keep this simple, five years ago, you perished. But now, you have come back to the world of the living. Your soul wandered the Pure Land for quite some time, so you should have some understanding…"
Sakumo Hatake nodded his head, turning to look at Konoha's main street. After a long time in the Pure Land, breathing in the morning air was quite refreshing.
He walked over to the exit, wanting to open the door, and see how it was outside. After all, a lot had probably changed in five years.
"Unfortunately, you cannot get out… The whole entire area of the restaurant seems to be restricting you, dead souls, from leaving." Kiyoshi said, nervously adjusting his hair.
[The resurrection of dead souls is against the laws of nature, so some restrictions must be in place]
This was a reminder from the Pure Land Gate System.
(T/N: I'll just call it "System" for the most part….)
Although Sakumo is completely fine and seemingly normal, he cannot leave this restaurant.
It had nothing to do with a person's strength, if they were a soul, they could not go out.
Sakumo reached out, trying to touch the door.
As soon as his finger made contact, a strange force caused him to recoil back.
Trying it over and over again, the same result occurred.
Kiyoshi watched, in slight interest. After all, he did not know how it worked…
After a while, Sakumo calmly sat down in a chair, not showing any signs of disappointment nor despair on his face.
It was quite hard to grasp the fact that he was now among the land of the living. But was it really worth it? After all, Sakumo had chosen to die underneath his own blade, leaving his son alone….
Uchiha Kiyoshi stepped forwards in front of the contemplating Sakumo, introducing himself:
"My name is Uchiha Kiyoshi, the owner of this fine establishment, and the gatekeeper between the Underworld and the Living World."
Calling himself the gatekeeper, though sort of a lie, it would be easier and faster if he just sold himself like that, after all, explaining things is usually too much of a pain….
You can't really go up to the guy and say… "I have a system in my mind that lets me bring dead people back to life. Oh, and…. Now I will explain to you what a system is…." This would probably lead to: "Also, I happen to be a man from another world where you and the rest of the Elemental nation are just fictional…."
Sakumo Hatake nodded, as Kiyoshi talked about his origin and the current situation of Lotus Road restaurant.
Before the war, Kiyoshi's parents operated this restaurant, but when the war started, they left for the battlefield.
After the war started, all management was turned over to Kiyoshi, who, besides one Shigeru Haigaki, were the only people in the restaurant. Normally Kiyoshi would want to recruit more people but...
In the future, there might be some…. Less friendly folk that might get resurrected. Like Uchiha Madara and other ruthless idiots.
In accordance with Madara's temper, he would survey the situation for a while, and decide to bring "True Peace" to Kiyoshi's humble little restaurant….
Kiyoshi was also thinking about staying lowkey, for a few reasons.
After all, if the Second and First Hokage came out of the gate, some…. Less than savory things would happen if Konoha's upper echelon found out. And there was the problem of Orochimaru and Danzo….
Sakumo gradually came to understand their current situation.
Kiyoshi continued to explain: "It's been five years since you died, and the Third Ninja War has been going on among all the major VIllages…."
"Five years…." Sakumo sighed, ruffling his wild white hair.
"Kakashi…. He should be twelve by now! How is he…?"
Sakumo nervously asked Kiyoshi, as this was probably the most important matter in his mind.
Kiyoshi organized his thoughts. This would be really annoying to explain after all….
The Kannabi Bridge incident had already happened by now, so….
Kakashi's personality had probably changed drastically.
"Kakashi is on the front lines, battling against…. Iwagakure I think?"
Kiyoshi started from the beginning. Explaining how now, Kakashi was indifferent and sort of toxic now, due to his father's death, the kid had shut himself out from everyone else, and now followed every rule and task without fail…
After that, Kiyoshi spent a while explaining the battle at Kannabi bridge, including the part where Obito had given Kakashi his Sharingan.
Sakumo nodded silently, contemplating.
"It turns out….. It was my fault."
Sakumo sighed heavily, extremely regretful.
"My death…. Caused him so much suffering…"
