Natsuro was soon a bit amazed as he looked at Sakura. Her chakra control was even more impressive than he had anticipated.
Not only did she successfully climb the tree on her first try, but it also seemed like she wouldn't take much longer to master water-walking as well.
"Alright, the lesson ends here. Sakura, you can continue practicing by this small river," Natsuro said. He wasn't the type to give hand-holding lessons.
"Okay, thank you, Natsuro." Sakura responded earnestly. His understanding of chakra control was so astonishing that she felt a sense of awe, as if she could never catch up. Not only in other aspects, but even in chakra control, he was outstanding...
So this is what it means to be a jōnin?
Natsuro nodded and then vanished before Sakura, hurrying to another training site.
Sakura patted her cheeks. Alright, she'd stop thinking about what Natsuro had said for now. She needed to master water-walking first, then head over to where Sasuke was and reflect on that matter while watching him.
Sasuke...
As she thought of Sasuke's face, her inner persona roared with determination. Water-walking? She'd show it who's boss!
...
"What's going on?"
When Natsuro arrived at the other training site, he found Naruto sulking, while Kakashi was scratching his head, unsure of how to comfort him.
"Natsuro, Kakashi-sensei is biased! He taught Sasuke such an amazing jutsu but gave me a totally ordinary one!" Naruto yelled the moment he heard Natsuro's voice.
"Oh, so Kakashi's playing favorites, huh?" Natsuro responded, adding fuel to the fire. "Yeah, that's not fair."
"Natsuro, don't join in. Naruto doesn't know, but you should, right?" Kakashi sighed, feeling a headache.
Sasuke, standing nearby, didn't say anything, but his eyes still held a trace of awe and excitement. Clearly, he had just seen the demonstration of Chidori. Even in his current state, Kakashi was only showing a demonstration, not using it at full power.
But even as a demo, Chidori's visual effects were enough to leave them in shock.
"Yeah, that's true. So, Naruto, what jutsu did Kakashi decide to teach you?" Natsuro asked, already knowing that while Kakashi had a variety of chakra natures, he was most skilled in lightning-style, especially Chidori.
"It's something called Gale Palm? Doesn't sound powerful," Naruto replied, hesitating.
"Hmm? That jutsu? I can do it too." Natsuro blinked, surprised that Kakashi had chosen this jutsu to teach Naruto.
After thinking it over, Natsuro realized it actually made sense. Naruto already had monstrous physical strength, and this ninjutsu, which was a mix of ninjutsu and taijutsu, would likely suit him better than a regular technique.
"Huh? Natsuro can do it too?" Naruto was taken aback.
"Of course. It might not look like much, but this jutsu is pretty useful," Natsuro said, forming hand seals. In truth, he could perform Gale Palm without seals, but he decided not to show off.
In the next moment, under the watchful eyes of all three, a whirlwind seemed to form around Natsuro. It didn't look all that weak.
Kakashi, seeing this, couldn't help but narrow his eyes. To be able to modify a jutsu's form to this extent—no wonder the Third Hokage considered Natsuro to have talent even greater than his own.
"Wow, Natsuro! Is that really Gale Palm? It doesn't look like what Kakashi-sensei showed us at all!" Naruto said excitedly, even casting a glance of disdain at Kakashi, making no effort to hide his feelings.
"Alright, fine. I gave a poor demonstration," Kakashi said with a roll of his eyes. "Natsuro is using Gale Palm too, but his chakra control is so advanced that he can reshape the jutsu's form."
"Oh." Naruto scratched his head, not quite understanding.
"Hmph, if this idiot can manage to learn the jutsu to Natsuro's level, it would actually suit him well," Sasuke said with a smirk.
"Huh? Why?" Naruto asked, not immediately realizing that Sasuke had called him an idiot.
"Because of your freakish stamina. With your endurance, you should've mastered stronger taijutsu by now, but you're not very good at it. If you can get Gale Palm to Natsuro's level, even if your taijutsu isn't great, your physical strength combined with each attack would make you hard to deal with," Sasuke explained coolly, hands in his pockets.
"Hmm…" Naruto started daydreaming, imagining himself using Natsuro's version of Gale Palm to dominate in battle, grinning idiotically.
"Idiot." Sasuke couldn't help but mutter.
"Hey! Who are you calling an idiot?" Naruto snapped back, glaring at Sasuke. "And who did you call a fool earlier?"
"Hmph, if you're just now realizing it, who else could I be talking about?" Sasuke retorted, staring him down.
"Alright, alright. Sasuke's right. This jutsu suits you," Natsuro said.
"But still, it's not as cool as Chidori," Naruto grumbled. It was true—Chidori had flashier visual effects.
"Well, what's most important is what suits you. Besides, from my perspective, Gale Palm has more potential. Naruto, have you heard of the Hidden Cloud Village?" Natsuro asked.
"Hidden Cloud Village? Is that a place like Konoha?" Naruto scratched his head.
"More or less. They have a secret technique called the Lightning Release Chakra Mode. It's like being wrapped in a suit of lightning armor—not only is it cool, but it's also really strong," Natsuro said. "You could try developing something like a Wind-Style Chakra Mode."
"Cool? Strong?" Naruto's eyes lit up, though he had a hard time imagining what the Lightning Release Chakra Mode looked like.
"Hmm… it's kind of like this," Natsuro said, and suddenly arcs of lightning crackled around his body, with even the air around him seeming to hum with electricity.
Wrapped in lightning, Natsuro appeared both mysterious and powerful.
"Wow!" Naruto exclaimed, eyes wide with excitement.
"I've decided! I'm going to master Wind-Style Chakra Mode!" Naruto declared loudly.
Natsuro then retracted his chakra, satisfied that he had piqued Naruto's interest in learning. If Naruto actually figured it out someday, Natsuro could sneak a few tips for himself. After all, Gale Palm was no longer enough for him.
But should it really be called Wind-Style Chakra Mode? Maybe he could name it Wind King's Armor, to pair it with the Wind King's Barrier from Fate.
Kakashi glanced at Natsuro, clicking his tongue in frustration. Natsuro's mastery of lightning-style, both in form and nature transformation, was top-tier. It seemed learning Chidori wouldn't be hard for him at all.
"Well, Naruto, keep learning from Kakashi-sensei," Natsuro said with a smile.
Kakashi froze. Wait a minute, didn't you come up with this idea? Why are you leaving the teaching to me?
"Alright!" Naruto's passionate gaze locked onto Kakashi, who sighed. In the end, he agreed. He could at least teach the basic version.
Natsuro couldn't help but chuckle to himself. Teaching Naruto theoretical learning was pure torture.
As for teaching him Rasengan… Natsuro had never considered it. With just a few days to teach Naruto Rasengan? Even with shadow clones, it probably wasn't enough time, and teaching Rasengan required hands-on instruction.
Sure enough, soon after, Natsuro saw Kakashi looking utterly defeated. Naruto had successfully worn down even the legendary Kakashi.
Some time later, Kakashi, dragging his exhausted body, joined Sasuke and Natsuro. Physically, he wasn't that tired, but mentally, he was thoroughly drained, making him feel utterly defeated.
"Natsuro, do you really think Naruto can master this Wind-Style Chakra Mode? I'd be impressed if he could even reach the level you just showed," Kakashi muttered, starting to lose hope after teaching Naruto for so long. It seemed Naruto didn't have a strong talent for ninjutsu.
"Hmm, the hope isn't very big, but that's Naruto we're talking about. He might surprise you, and even if he doesn't, he can still improve his chakra control," Natsuro said.
If he were in Naruto's position, he would definitely focus on maintaining the Gale Palm as a steady technique, gradually improving it, since Naruto's chakra reserves could definitely allow for that.
"Let's hope so," Kakashi sighed and then said, "Alright, Natsuro, Sasuke, I'll begin explaining the secrets of Chidori next."
Finally, it was here.
Sasuke had been waiting for a long time and was now excited. Just by watching from the side, he could feel the power of this technique. If he learned this jutsu, perhaps he could close the distance to that person!
Natsuro's attention also sharpened. Although he had figured out the Chidori on his own, Kakashi's explanation would provide insights that might differ from his understanding, so it was important for him.
Kakashi looked at Sasuke and Natsuro. Although the difficulty of the ninjutsu had increased, it shouldn't be as challenging as teaching Naruto...
Kakashi thought to himself, and the outcome did not disappoint him, leaving him momentarily at a loss for words.
He saw the familiar jutsu in Natsuro's hands and fell silent.
Sasuke also stared in silence at the Chidori in Natsuro's hand. He was still unsure about it, but Natsuro...
"Well, don't be so surprised. I was already learning in this direction, and now Kakashi's explanation just helped me clear that last hurdle, so I learned it," Natsuro explained.
After hearing this, Sasuke felt a bit better. Natsuro's recent display of lightning encapsulating his body proved that he had progressed far in Lightning Release, and it did resemble Chidori somewhat...
However, even so, Natsuro's talent was definitely beyond what he had imagined.
Sasuke sighed; indeed, Natsuro was impressive, though he had already gotten used to his excellence.
Kakashi rolled his eyes. He didn't buy that story—had he really learned so quickly just because he had studied it beforehand? Who was he trying to fool? It was certainly helpful, but it couldn't be that fast.
So this is what visible talent looks like? It's definitely a bit ridiculous.
"Well then, Sasuke, you can practice over here. Don't envy Natsuro's learning speed, and don't get discouraged. He learns quickly because he has a solid foundation, while you are essentially learning at an accelerated pace, so mastering it won't be simple," Kakashi said after a moment's thought, slightly worried that Sasuke might feel disheartened.
"I know, Kakashi; after all, it's Natsuro," Sasuke replied. He felt envious, but... he had grown accustomed to it.
Kakashi paused for a moment, then looked over at Natsuro in surprise. To be able to impress the usually self-centered Uchiha clan like this, it seemed Natsuro's past performance had also been quite extraordinary.
Indeed, excellent people are excellent wherever they go, and it feels like he will continue to excel.
