Knowledge Thief: Library of Genesis

Alan was born into one of the most powerful families in the world. However, that didn't matter because, at the young age of 8, he was disowned by his family due to a prophecy told by an oracle. Filled with anger and resentment, Alan is abandoned in a town on the other side of the world. Now feeling helpless, Alan has to live his life with nobody beside him. While he is trying to find a place to sleep, he encounters a group of thugs who take notice of his expensive clothes, and they decide to kidnap him and hold him for ransom. Suddenly an eruption occurs, and a cloud of green gas appears. What comes out of the gas is a being that horrifies the young child. "Hey, let's make a deal," it says.

Alan was confused when he saw the vault in front of him. He thought that the only things inside the library were books. Izmos caught wind of Alan's confusion and started explaining.

"This right here is my personal storage where you can also use your exchange tokens. Us gods do not need things such as those storage devices you mortals wear," he said. "Since I've been locked away for thousands of years, both my body and powers have significantly weakened. It's a good thing I at least kept my possessions."

"Is there something inside there that can help me," Alan asked.

"Yes. It's pretty expensive, but you only need one piece of it."

Alan thought of something that could help cure his mana blockage, and the vault responded to his thinking.

[Berilia Grass]

[Grass that is grown on the planet Berilia, which is known to be the planet with the highest amount of mana in its atmosphere. Berilia Grass has multiple uses in the field of alchemy. Other uses for Berilia Grass are that it can clean the body of any impurities related to mana, and could increase one's mana capacity if enough is consumed.]

[Purchase: 250 exchange tokens per one strand]

"There are other methods we can use to fix your problem in this library, but they require the help of others. The knowledge of this library is only available to you, so right now, this is our only option," Izmos said.

"Can I take items from this place to the outside world?" Alan asked.

"Of course. Since you and I are linked together, the storage ability I have has been given to you through your system. When you wake up, the grass will be in there."

"Nice," Alan said as he proceeded to purchase a singular piece of grass. "Well, now, do I wait to wake up?"

"You don't have to stay here until you wake up because that would take days. One's dreams don't follow the time of reality. If you wanted to, you could stay here for a month before your body would need to wake up."

Alan was shocked at Izmos' words, and a grin appeared on his face. He started thinking of all the different ways he could benefit from this.

Izmos saw the smile on Alan's face and said, "This is good for you because for you to learn anything, you would need at least a 95% understanding before your system could absorb the knowledge into your brain."

Alan understood that, as of this moment, he couldn't do anything more in this place. He had gotten used to the system at this point and understood that if he wanted something, he just had to think about it.

< Would you like to exit the Library of Genesis? >

Alan proceeded to do so and stopped dreaming. He was now sleeping regularly and would wake up when morning came.

The next morning, Alan lifted his body that was sleeping inside the tent and sat up. He took a peak outside and realized that morning had come.

Alan had no clue how to cook, so he didn't even bother trying to make breakfast. He instead took out some snacks from his storage ring and started eating them.

"I have a busy day ahead of me," he said.

"You're finally awake, boy."

Izmos was floating in the air above him, waiting for the boy to wake up.

"Yeah. It was probably the best sleep I got in my entire life."

"I bet it was. Anyways, now that you're awake, have you got something for me?"

Alan nodded his head. Before he left the library, he decided to give the storage ring and the contents inside of it to Izmos since he didn't need them anymore. Alan took everything out of his ring one by one, putting the things he needed into his system's inventory, and left the others on the side. Once he was done, only four items remained.

"Okay... done. Now, are you going to eat this?" Alan asked after remembering that Izmos had eaten three men the night before.

"When someone dies, their soul remains by their body for a period of time before being led to the afterlife," Izmos said. "I need to eat the bodies of the dead in order to consume their souls. Therefore, I don't need to eat anything unless it has a soul."

Even though Alan found out that these souls would be lost forever, he didn't feel bad at all. He knew why the townspeople kicked these men out of town and didn't regret killing them in the slightest. They were the scum of the earth and were continuing to live their lives as wanted criminals.

"Anyways, let's start," Alan said.

He decided to start with the items he stole from Sebastian. He never thought they would come in handy, but now, he had a use for them. There was a sword and a pair of boots.

"Okay, so the rules for consuming items are a little different," Izmos said. "But before doing so, you should eat the grass to unlock the fourth option."

"Oh... I almost forgot."

The grass was already in his system's inventory once he woke up, so he had forgotten all about it. Alan took out the strand of grass and put it into his mouth, eventually swallowing it.

< Your mana has been unlocked. >

Alan stepped out of his tent and stood still, trying to take in as much air as possible. It felt different from what he was used to. After a minute, he decided to go back into the tent.

"Okay, let's continue."

Alan put one hand on the sword and one hand on the pair of boots. Both items disappeared into thin air.

Two notifications popped up with four options underneath.

Options available:

1: Trade for exchange tokens

2: Steal ability (No abilities detected)

3: Learn creation method

4: Steal mana from artifact

Alan looked at the notification and found one major difference in the consumption of items. He could learn the method used to create the item.

He thought hard about what he needed at the moment. There was no point increasing his mana since his magic power was currently G-. What good would a large mana pool be if you couldn't utilize any of it? He also saw no benefit in learning the creation methods since these artifacts weren't anything special. What he needed the most right now was exchange tokens.

< You have gained 279 exchange tokens >

< You have gained 263 exchange tokens >

"Why did these give me more than the bodies of those humans?" he asked Izmos.

"Well, because they are more useful to me then carcasses. When one dies, most of their mana leaves their body. The only useful thing remaining is their soul. Therefore, items will always give more tokens compared to bodies of the dead because I can get more out of them."

"I see," Alan said.

He now knew that exchange tokens were given to him based on how helpful he was to Izmos' recovery. Since the difference between souls and items was a lot, he decided he would not exchange souls unless needed.

"Okay, now, onto the next."

< Storage Ring has been consumed >

< You have gained 7231 exchange tokens >

"Seven thousand! That's way higher than the rest."

"Dimensional magic is very rare and difficult to use, even more so when producing an artifact. It's only right that I gave you more points for this ring."

'System, can you explain the maximum amount of points I can get for different items,' Alan thought

[G-Class: 0-100 points]

[F-Class: 101-500 points]

[E-Class: 501-1,000 points]

[D-Class: 1,001-5,000 points]

[C-Class: 5,001-10,000 points]

[B-Class: 10,001-50,000 points]

[A-Class: 50,001-100,000 points]

[S-Class & Above: 100,000+ points]

He looked at the screen and regretted not trading in the soul of the D+ criminal.

"Okay, now for the vial. I'm going to be honest. I really need it. It's the only thing that can protect me from other gods at the moment. Therefore, I'm only giving you the option to trade it for tokens," Izmos said.

Alan was going to trade in the vial anyways. While he was sorting out his system's inventory, he came to find out the vial was an SSS-Class item. He licked his lips, excited about all the tokens he was about to get.
