Prologue

Once there was a flirtatious married woman. She is a real beauty. A beauty no one could resist. Not even a Goddess's husband.

"Nagalandian sila tapos nagalit yung diyosa kaya nagasumbong siya sa papa niya."

The Gods were angry. And so, the flirtatious married woman's descendants were cursed.

Every maiden with the flirtatious woman's blood were cursed and the curse's existence continue to this very day. According to the legend, a lot died because of it.

The curse can only activate when they get their first kiss. And when they kissed another person aside from the one they had their first kiss with, they'll die. In addition, they are obliged to kiss that person everyday of their lives to live.

"Kaya sinasabi ko sayo magaboypren ka lang pag papakasalan ka na talaga ah." Sagot ni mama habang hawak ang bagong timpla niyang kape. "Wag kang magahalik-halik dyan ng basta basta kung mema lang. Tignan mo yang diary ng mga ninuno natin nakakaawa naman."

Binuksan ko yung notebook na parang mas matanda pa saken sa harapan ko. They called it legend to protect the women of our blood from wicked people, but it's no legend, it's true. I remembered reading all these when I was in 1st grade.

Some of my ancestors died 'cause of some simple accidents, gaya ng nadapa tapos nagkahalikan tapos deds kasi di na nila nahalikan ulit yung aksidente nilang nahalikan. Pero may ibang naging successful. They married the ones they actually love gaya ni mama kay papa. It's not that sweet.

"Di ka ba papasok?" Tanong ni mama na ikina-balikwas ko. Oo nga pala. Napa-kuwento kasi si mama bigla kaya nawala sa isip ko eh.

"Alis na ko ma! Bye!" I shouted while leaving. Suot suot ko naman yung mask ko kaya ready na ko lumabas.

Hmm. First kiss huh? Ano kayang pakiramdam?

I stopped myself from thinking that by pinching my own cheek.
