[Island of Steel settlement]

On the island of steel settlement, Takeshi was observing his status page. His experience bar was on the rise. By the system's standard, he should be a chunin already. His stats were already on par with low-chunin in terms physically-wise, whereas his chakra was on par with most jonin, explaining part of his absurd ninjutsu strength.

But besides that, his proficiency in skills, both kenjutsu and ninjutsu, made him a fearsome opponent, capable of taking genins, or even chunins, with relative ease. In other words, Takeshi had already reached power far exceeding his rank, though others had yet to recognize it.

Though it was often a source of internal discord for geniuses, Takeshi did not mind the under-evaluation of higher-ups. He was only nine after all by the world's standards, and the more time he had to polish his skills, the better it was. Rising ranks too fast was the best way to get targeted by even stronger enemies, and the last thing he wanted was to become one of the geniuses who did not have the opportunity to grow.

Testing out his long-range jutsu, which had recently risen to 55 points of proficiency, Takeshi grinned. Who would have thought that a D-rank jutsu could be so useful in long-range skirmishes. With his chakra reserves, he could spam this jutsu like a machine gun with unlimited ammo. The good thing about the system was that it not only enhanced reserves when you upgraded chakra, but it also increased density, making any jutsu cast much more potent. 

Though shinobi would achieve this naturally through training or simply growing, Takeshi could use level ups as a shortcut. The result was the following.

In front of him, a massive rock was riddled with bullet-like holes. However, modern weapons did not exist in this world, yet. These were the results of his [Azure Stream] Jutsu. Pressurized, suiton drops of water thrown at extreme speeds. 

Analysing the jutsu, Takeshi smiled: "So chakra acts like a fluid and can be used to compress physical molecules, to the extent of turning water in powerful bullets, huh...Increasing chakra density and increase the piercing power of the spell, but using more water would result in increased area of impact but lower power..."

Adjusting the size of the water used by half, the piercing power increased again, this time piercing the boulder all the way through it.

Enhancing skills were not so easy. It required innovative ideas, as well as capacity to turn those ideas into reality. Without high affinity in said element and chakra control, doing so was not just impossible, it also happened to be incredibly dangerous. Otherwise, hidden jutsu from clans would not be so rare and valuable.

However, Takeshi always have had a talent in ninjutsu, and though his progress had been stalled by his focus on kenjutsu, it was actually complementary.
