Chapter 73

Carter was lying on the medical table in the doctor's room. The doctor repeated his examination having at his disposal the light he needed.

"So, doctor?" Jimena asked him.

"I have to get the bullet out of him and it has to be done now. Fortunately, the bullet didn't pierce his lung. I will need help," he told her as he began to roll up the sleeves of his shirt, reaching to his elbows.

"Whatever you want, doctor. All you have to do is ask me what you need," Jimena was eager.

"Put water on the fire to boil to sterilize the tools. I need hot water and clothes to clean the wound and rum or wine to sterilize the wound after removing the bullet.

"Okay, doctor. I immediately go to see what is left in the kitchen and I hope it is enough. All the other stocks have been stolen by the wretched pirates."

And spitting her last words, Jimena left and went to the kitchen in hasty steps.
