Chapter 6: Graduation Gift... 1

252 B.C. 

Kyou En's Pov:

It has been 1 Year since the battle for Bayou...

Although Kyou sama's death impacted QIn's Military prowess by a bit....Our King didn't show any weakness by lessening our invasions.... Rather he decided to wage war even more to show the other states that Qin is still the strongest....

There are also a few good things that have happened to me during this year with one of them being me getting promoted to a 300 man Commander after participating and gaining a few achievements in a few smaller wars after that.

It wasn't easy to find some good infantry as I have started earning a small reputation as a new and upcoming talented commander ... My Unit also helped me out with getting some strong fighters.

I decided to increase the trainings for my unit as I also decided to train them on formations and some of my tactics as I wouldn't want them to react slow when we are actually in the war.

My Advisor also reported to me about the progress of getting talented soldiers for my elite core unit. He's managed to find a bit of talented people who agreed to become my subordinates... Most were peasants that wanted or needed money so they agreed easily when I showed them the payment I'll be giving them...a few nobles also decided to join in since they were looking for someone with potential to serve under.

Athough they were not enough for a unit yet..... It's fine since I don't need them right now.

The last good thing that happened to me was my Teacher deciding to have me Graduate from his school saying that it is of no use for me now and I find my type of warfare with the knowledge he's given me. 

It was quite nice when I saw Yi gifting me a Spear that has a unique snake design in its handle .... I asked Yi where he managed to get a luxurious and shar spear from to which he answered that his teacher told me of a few expert blacksmiths while looking smug and happy that I liked his gift.

Not only that but Yi also begged me to let him to go personally to watch the next war that will be happening soon after learning from Koshou that it will be him leading it personally.

I agreed with the condition that he has to watch from afar and that his escorts would take him back home should he not be able to watch the gruesome sight. 

Well... I am actually also happy as I can watch my Teacher personally go to war... My units also been pumped up ever since hearing that we would have to depart soon

I stood next to my teacher as I cupped my hands to him

"It's an honor to be able to fight with you teacher" I said while showing my full respect to this man who has only been supporting me without asking anything back."

"Haha, I also never expected to be able to go to war with you En... After this war is over... Let's have a drink together" Ko Shou said smiling while still wearing his usual Scholar outfit.

"Yes Sir!" I replied respectfully before talking to him informally... Something he'd gotten used to the past year....

"Anyways teacher... Do you know who our unlucky opponent this time will be" I said while laughing to which Ko Shou looked at ke seriously before answering

"...Chou Sha... One of Zhao's Three Greats will be the opposing armies commanding General"

.... That also got me a bit silent.... Chou Sha... That man has been going to war against us as much as he could after his Son's death....

"Still.... I believe that if it's you... Then you'd win Teacher...." I said smiling while looking at my teacher which kind of surprised him as he saw me.... Sheesh... I know I'm handsome but I'm sorry teacher.... I'm into females

"Mhm, of course I will win and repel the invading Zhao army that dared to invade us while most of our prominent Generals are too far out invading other places...." Ko Shou replied which made me cup my hands and answer...

"Good Luck to you Teacher" I said as I left to go back to my unit.....

"Kyou En sama, It's good to see that you have returned! Is there anything you need right now?" I heard a voice which made me look at the direction where it came from...

"Indeed.... I will need you to gather the unit as we will be needing them to increase our pace starting tomorrow to match with the main army.... Also give me a bottle of Wine the next time you come to me...He Ya" 

"Yes Si- Huh?! Captain my wine isn't even that good.... Anything but that " He Ya said as he started to cry to which I smacked him and told him to hurry up while laughing

3 Days later....

Kyou En's Pov:

We are finally at the fated location that will soon be dyed with blood.

We will be fighting in Haku Plains close to Kasin city..... It seems that Ko Shou sama decided to have a field battle instead of defending in the city as it appears to be to small to have the 140 thousand of us fit inside. I thought as I was taking my position....

It seems that I have been positioned in the back of the center army ... 

This will be a war out of the ordinary considering that Our Supreme Commander Is One of the 6 Great Generals Ko Shou sama with 140 Thousand troops while Zhao's commanding General Is Chou Sha of Zhao's three great heavens who has an army of 110 Thousand.

This war wil definitely be carved in history.... As such there are many people including me who will try to use this opportunity to have their names etched into History including me!!!.

3rd Person Pov:

The Qin can be seen having an army of 70 thousand thousand in the center while having 20 thousand in the left side and 50 in the right.

The Zhao army opposing them seem to have 10 thousand in the center while having 50, Thousand in both sides which seemed to confuse the Qin however their Commanding General seemed calm and gave an Order to his 1st General who is commanding the left side with 20 thousand.

... It didn't even take over 10 minutes since both sides started taking their formations... Before the Zhao initiated their attack and had their right side charge at our left side with all their troops which in turn had Qin's first general to set up a defensive formation that was proven to be extremely tough since whenever an opening was created, The first generals army would move a bit in a linear formation removing that opening which would instead put the opening to left and right sides but it seems like First Army Generai Ra Gin already planned for that and had elite spear units in both sides who seem to be his elite troops which surprised Commanding General Ko Shou due to him bringing his best troops at the start before smirking as he realised why.

Great General Ko Shou then had half his center army which comprised of 35 thousand to attack Zhao's 10 thousand while giving orders to have his right side to intercept Zhao's left incase they try to interfere.

Zhao's 10 thousand which had flags bearing the name Chou all decided to defend while trying to have their left side to aid them but were instead stopped By Qin's right.

3rd Person:

It's already over an hour since the war started yet Zhao still had yet to peirce through Qin's Left side's defences.... However The Zhao army in the center that was attacked by Qin had already begun to retreat, as the Qin had dug deep into them and were starting to end it.... Which seemed to lessen Zhao's Morale as it looked like Zhao' great general had already begun retreating..... However it was just then that Zhao did a big move which changed the entire situation as he had 30 Thousand of Zhao's right side that were attacking 20 thousand of Ko Shou's First general to change directions and aim for Qin's center army that was now 35 thousand.... Zhao's remaining 15 thousand decided to defend this time while taking advantage of the situation to being ready to still attack quickly, should the Qin decide to save their headquarters....

Zhao's Left side then had 20 thousand to flank the center.... However Qin's Right side that had been defending this whole time to stop the Zhao from saving their headquarters quickly changed their stance; And retreated a bit to save their Great General Ko Shou.... However it was then that a shocking thing would be revealed.. An incredibly strong Unit deciding that it was time to flank Ko Shou's 2nd General that was charging back to quickly kill him.... Which surprisingly succeeded... Not only that but the leader of the unit appeared to be Chou Sha Of Zhao's Great Heavens who seemingly used his personal army as bait.

With the increased Morale that Zhao had due to knowing that Great General Chou Sha managed to outsmart Ko Shou and even kill their 2nd general while having his army corner Ko Shou all at the same time which made General Ko Shou realise it would be bad to continue so he hurriedly called a retreat.

However Zhao obviously didn't want to let this go so they did an all out charge but it was then that a seemingly new Qin Army of 30 Thousand strong appeared and ambushed the Zhao causing them to halt a bit which gave the Qin army enough time to retreat.

A few hours later during night time where both armies have retreated to their respective camps....

Zhap Camp

Chou Sha's Pov: 

To think that Old Fox would be able to dodge my killing stroke hmph.... The same tactic won't work on him twice. I thought while looking at a simulation board thinking of what I can do.....

"We will do a night raid on them tonight.....

Rai U and Mu Tan... You two will be the ones to attack them" I stated....

"Yes Sir... How many troops do you want us to bring" Said a man while looking at his General.

"All of them" I said calmly

"Huh?!! All of them? Sir do you mean to-" The man tried to say before getting talked over.

"I said all of them... Did you not hear me? This won't be a simple night raid where we try send a small army that tries to surprise them and get the most out of it.... No.... This night raid will be for us to beat them.... However I doubt it'd be enough to kill that fox Ko Shou.... Therefore i want everyone else to have their armies around their camp close by.... Not too close that they'd notice you though..... You guys will attack the ones that will be retreating... However if for some reason Rai U and Mu Tan's night raid fail and they start to get in a dangerous position then you guys shall aid them." I said without letting anyone speak.

"... Yes Sir!!!" Said the generals loudly as they realized that they weren't dealing with just anyone but rather someone who who is known as one of the greatest Generals alive.... Of course he knows what he's doing.

"However Sir..

 What if another army shows up? Not only that but where did that 30 Thousand even come from..." Said one of the men.

"Hmph.... Don't expect that they can just bring out an army of 30 thousand from anywhere.... The answer was always in front of us.... It was the cities.... That Ko Shou probably wanted to have a secret army as a reassurance without us knowing so he probably didn't even tell his own troops other than his trusted people... He had taken a few thousand of every city that's close by and had them stay further back.... It's lucky that we managed to bring out this card of his on the first day... If he survived today and used that army a different time then we would've been in big trouble... Anyways.. start preparing the night raid!" I said while making an angry expression.

Qin Camp

Ko Shou Pov:

"To think that you of all people would get outsmarted.... It seems that Chou Sha really does live to his name" Said my first General

"Indeed... It seems that I have underestimated him far too much... to think that I would be forced to use that army in the first day...." I said while looking grim.

"However its due to that army being shown in the first that we can do the strategy you told me of even faster My Lord" My 1st general replied while smiling.

"Indeed.... They would think that we don't have another army now.... But what if we were to split of a smal amount of our army and have them show up somewhere else surprising the enemy which we could flank them with... And also confuse and shock them even more which would scare them as they wouldn't know how much troops we actually have." I said.

"Indeed.... Even if its only 10 thousand... It would look like a lot more considering the circumstances." Said Ra Gin

"Urgent Report!!!" Said a soldier rushing her while taking deep breaths.

"What happened" I said calmly.

"Th- The camp... There's an army of unknown size that we cannot check due to the darkness is Invading the Camp.... They will arrive very fast considering they are on Horseback!!!!!". The soldier said sounding scared before he looked confused as he saw everyone in the room smile.

"Heh, Get the army ready ... We shall take revenge for Ko Kui" I said while thinking about my 2nd general.

"Yes Sir!" Said my commanders who were happy to avenge Ko Kui.

3rd person pov: 

The Zhao army rushed very fast intending to quickly attack before the Qin would get ready and surprise them.... Upon reaching the camp... They see a lot of shadows which cause them to grin as they attack.... However... In less than 2 minutes... They realize it was all a trap as the shadows were only straw dolls.... However... Not even 5 minutes later...

The real Qin army was attacking them from behind which caused them to have some losses but they were rescued by an enormous amount of Zhao soldiers which caused the Qin to leave using the advantage of the night in less than 30 minutes of fighting..... The Zhao army that then went back looking disappointed as their night raid was predicted and countered... Were incredibly shocked as they saw fire coming out from their main camp....
