Shin looked at the battlefield, which was favoring Qin thanks to the war chariots that had crushed Wei's infantry in just one sweep.
"Our moment has come!" Shin gripped the reins of his horse tightly and prepared to finish off the Wei army, which was in complete disarray.
Perhaps the small number of horses was insignificant compared to Wei's soldiers, but Jun knew that although their numbers were small, the casualties they were inflicting with their strategy were enormous.
The entire Wei army on this hill was being crushed; everyone was dying due to the confusion, and their attacks were simply defensive against the spears piercing their armor.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
When the cavalry clashed with the ranks of Wei soldiers, they were disoriented because the war chariots, driven by horses from their own nation, attacked them, making it impossible to defend themselves.
"Let's go!"
The horses that were tied to the war chariots were unhitched, and the soldiers who controlled these machines mounted the horses and followed the cavalry into battle.
Jun, who was in the middle of the wall, slipped to the far right, where the concentration of enemies was smaller. Thanks to the curtains of dust, few enemies saw him leave.
"Something is approaching." Kyou Kai followed Jun, who was searching for a new path toward the hill where the general of the Wei army was located.
"That's not our problem. Our mission is crucial for victory with our numbers." Jun knew that something was happening behind them.
As they moved further away, Jun could see the overwhelming numbers that the Wei army had compared to Qin's infantry, who were still fighting fiercely.
"They are allies." Kyou Kai was a bit more concerned about those she considered comrades. So when she turned around, she noticed that the Qin cavalry was approaching the battle.
Jun stopped at that moment and watched as the Qin cavalry finally approached the battle while the entire Wei army advanced toward the defensive line that the infantry had managed to hold.
"We'll have reinforcements if we can distract the enemy on the mountain." Jun was not excited about this; fighting that army felt like fighting children to him.
They were all peasants who did not devote their lives to the sword. Jun had been born with a sword in his hand and had become familiar with the most aggressive ways of killing.
"Let's move to the right." Jun and Kyou Kai had distanced themselves enough from the battlefield to avoid being involved in it.
"I thought you cared about those soldiers' deaths." Kyou Kai couldn't comprehend Jun's way of thinking; she thought he cared for others, so she wondered what he truly believed.
"I want to help them; I would like to help them, but those soldiers are not prepared to follow my path. At this moment, you are the only one who can accompany me to this battlefield." Jun tore off another piece of clothing and wrapped it around his left hand.
"Are you…"
"I am just like you," Jun said as he wiped the blood from his face.
There was silence after Jun said this. Kyou Kai gripped her sword tightly, considering many alternatives, but then Jun turned around, seemingly uninterested.
"This is not the time to talk; we must win this battle first." Jun started running quickly toward a nearby forest that connected to the hill.
He didn't care whether Kyou Kai would follow him or not. In the end, she would seek something similar to what he had been searching for all this time; both were quickly looking for someone to understand them.
"Fine, I'll follow you." Kyou Kai didn't know why she was trying so hard to win this battle.
But this initiative would make them win a battle that seemed impossible to win.
Neither of them fought for Qin; they had no attachment to any nation. They fought only for themselves, to give their lives meaning.
