Rriel's point of view
My arms wrap around Emmy. She lays her head on my shoulder. We dance across the ballroom. The ball was supposed to be for me to find a princess. It was a beautiful ball. The ballroom was a dream. There were many tables and giant seashells that we sat on along the walls, but the center was a large dance floor. Under a glass floor, you see all the fish swimming. There was a giant chandelier that hung in the middle of a dance floor.
"I love being here with you," Emmy tells me.
I kiss her on the head. "Me too, Angelfish."
I hold Emmy. I feel like I care about her. I don't feel that sappy love. If I had to pick a Princess, I could choose her. Pretend like I am head over heels for her. Is that fair to her?
Father and I know the intention for the ball, but not the guest. I didn't want girls seeking my attention. Secretly, I didn't want any of them. I feel Emmy's lips on my cheek.
"You missed," I say, taking her face in my hands. Bringing my lips to hers, I kiss her. She runs her fingers through my hair. I pull her closer to my body.
I like to kiss Emmy. She's a beautiful girl, but I don't feel that spark of fire. I don't feel in love, and I want to. The last thing I want to do is hurt Emmy.
The crowd claps, and I notice many eyes upon us. I see the approval in my dad's eyes. This makes my heart happy. Emmy will be mine. I will learn to love her. Emmy's smile was from ear to ear. She was so pleased. There was no doubt Emmy was the most beautiful girl in the Kingdom. She has deep gray fur and purple eyes, and a matching purple tail. She was gorgeous for a Mokmaid anyway.
"I will be right back."
Emmy smiles." Okay," she says.
I swim over to my father and took his side. "Emmy is a clear choice," he tells me.
"Emmy is great," I remark.
"Good, I am glad this is settled," he responds.
Is it settled? Will Emmy be happy with me? Can I love her the way I should? I watch her eat some seaweed from the snack bar. All the girls were watching her. Out of jealousy, but Emmy didn't care.
"Join her," my dad laughs. I nod and walk towards Emmy. She looks at me with such happiness. I am glad I made her happy. At least we got that.
"Are you enjoying this ball?"
"Yeah, it's a little crowded," she remarks.
I reach my hand for hers. "Will you swim in the garden with me?" I ask once her hand is in mine.
"I would love that," Emmy smiles. We swim towards the door.
A moment later, we reach the Garden. It was full of seaweed and starfish. The jellyfish roam. This was my favorite place. There are beautiful pearls all over the walkway. The sun reflects off them, shining beautiful colors throughout the water.
"Do you love me," Emmy asks?
How do I answer this? "I do Angelfish, but I am a broken man in the love department, and I'm sure you know why. You are going to have just to give me time," I tell her, rubbing her cheek with my hand.
"I will, I understand," she says.
"I know one thing, I love kissing you. I bring my lips to hers, kissing her intensely.
She giggles, kissing me too.
"I have always loved you," she tells me. This doesn't surprise me.
"Oh yeah, what's not to love?" I smirk. She rolls her eyes.
The fish play beautiful music. It was slow and sounded like a symphony.
"I want to dance," says Emmy.
"Again," I laugh.
"Please," says Emmy, pouting her lower lip at me.
"I can never say no to that," I wrap my arms around her and pull her into my body. Her fur feels so soft to my touch.
"I love you, Rriel," she tells me. Oh, Emmy. I don't want to break your heart.
