Chapter 24
Adam opened his eyes slightly.
He glanced at his alarm clock.
It was just some minutes past three.
His room was dimly lit by the bedside lamp and Scarlett was whimpering in her sleep again. He looked at her concerned.
I have to something about the nightmares she usually has.
Adam thought. He decided to book her in with a reknowned therapist, maybe after he had settled their schooling.
He pulled her closer and kissed her forehead.
"Shh...it's okay, I'm here." He hugged her. "I won't let them hurt you."
Scarlett tossed, she was mumbling something that sounded like 'don't hit me' but he couldn't quite get it. Adam sighed and sat up on the bed.
She must have had a rough life.
He decided to get a cup of coffee.
Adam put on his slippers and walked out the door, cautious not to wake Scarlett up. He then exited the room.
Once he got to the kitchen he headed to the coffee maker and brewed himself some coffee.
