First Invite

Heading back from the libraries heart both Isaac and William were happy to have prevented the library from completely dying. As they arrived back in the library William began explaining. 

Now that you have been bonded to the library we need to send out invitations to people so they can come to the library William said. To do that we need to head to the back of the library. There there is a special room for sending out the keys to the library. 

Am I able to invite someone specific Isaac asked. 

Is it a friend or a lover or maybe a family member William asked back.

Yes he is a friend and a lover why do you ask Isaac replied.

Well it is expected that the keepers have those that they would want to bring with them to the library to not lose them so there is a special function of the library for that William explained. 

Okay so how do I send out the invitation Isaac asked him. 

Follow me William said. 

He began leading Isaac to the back of the library and through a door leading to a hallway with many doors. Walking past the first 5 they stopped at the 6th door as William opened it and led Isaac in. 

This is the room for giving out library invitations William began. The library used to be known throughout the many universes but since it has been so long since there has been a keeper it is likely that we are just a myth at this point. First we will send out the specific invitation to your friend before we send out the first invitation. 

What is the difference between the two of them Isaac asked. 

Glad you asked William said with a smile. The specific invitation gives the one you invite status similar to a keeper. It is like you are the owner and they are one of your managers. So they have much more access to the library than a normal visitor but not as much as you. If they want to do something that would require you they would need your permission first.

Okay I understand. So how do we begin Isaac asked.

Walking over to the wall William seemed to hit a button as a panel slid down revealing 12 keys of differing shapes. Although 11 of the keys seemed to be broken and rusted. the 12th key was faintly shimmering. 

To send out a Specific invite you first grab one of these keys William said. Then you need to drip a drop of blood on the key while thinking of the person you wish to invite. Finally you drop it in here.

As he said that he stomped his foot on the floor and a circle in the middle of the floor opened up revealing a pool of liquid that looked like a starry night sky. 

Isaac followed his orders grabbing the first key which looked like a golden key with the top in the shape of a crab. He pulled out the knife from earlier and thought of his best and only friend. As he dripped the blood on the key the key shimmered and absorbed the blood. Then he dropped the key in the pool as it vanished. 

Great now that that is done we can move on to the next invite William said. 

Walking out and heading to the next room Isaac followed behind as the wall and floor closed up leaving an empty room. 

Heading to the next room there were a couple rusty looking keys sitting on a desk in the corner and there was a keyhole in one of the walls. The rest of the room seemed pretty empty. 

This is a bit different to the other one William explained. But doesn't require you to cut yourself. For this one it is quite simple. You simply pick up a key and put it in the keyhole over there. Then you say the word [Under my authority as the keeper of the library I open an invitation]. Quite simple right?

Yeah it is but why are all of the keys rusty and old looking? Isaac asked while picking up a key and inspecting it.

The key was an old rusty looking key with a small open book at the head. Turning it over Isaac couldn't see anything special about it. 

Well that is because the magic of this place is almost gone William explained. Usually the keys are full of magic but because the library has been without a keeper for so long it has almost died. Across the many universes there is always a constant of 3 types of energy. They are qi, mana and essence. The library naturally absorbs some of the energy from the visitors along with what the keeper can gather. The keys create a special bond with a person so when they return to their world the library and gather some of that worlds energy allowing the library to continue to live and grow. The more visitors the more the library grows.

I see so in order to restore the library we need more visitors Isaac said. 

Exactly! William said with a smile. You catch on quickly. 

Isaac smiled as he carried the key towards the keyhole. 

I Isaac Under my authority as the keeper of the library I open an invitation. 

Right after he twisted the key and stepped back. The wall around the key began to shimmer before it seemed to fade away turning into a pitch black hole. Soon after the key turned into a bolt of light and shot off into the darkness before the wall sealed back up returning to normal. All that was left was a blank wall with a small keyhole. 

Well done Isaac. William said clapping his hands together and smiling Now all we do is wait. 

In the meantime let's go clean up a bit Isaac said. We wouldn't want the first guest to see a dusty old library. 

You are quite right William said with a chuckle. Let's head to the changing room so we can get you a uniform and some cleaning supplies. 

Heading out they walked a few more doors down before Isaac saw a simple looking room with a place for changing clothes, a shower and a closet full of cleaning supplies. 

William grabbed Isaac a black suit with a gold tie and a small book pin. The suit was enchanted with magic that kept it constantly clean and also came with some defensive magic but William didn't explain much. 

Getting changed and grabbing some supplies William and Isaac headed out to the Library floor. They then rolled up their sleeves and got to work. While Isaac began mopping the floor WIlliam took care of dusting the shelves and clearing away all of the cobwebs and spider webs making sure not to hurt any spiders and collecting them up in a jar. He would return them to the room for library creatures he said when Isaac asked. As they got close to finishing they saw a shimmer at the door. 

Their first Visitor has arrived!
