The story revolves around Sharmishtha, an investigative journalist who is determined to expose a criminal network and Mr Roychowdhury, a businessman struggling to save his beloved wife from his own dark past. Destiny has brought them on crossed paths. Surrounded with evil and unbeknownst of the people involved, will they be able to achieve their goals? Excerpt: Roychowdhury was instructing someone on the phone when his call got interrupted by another line. He looked at his phone it's his wife. He disconnected the line and went on instructing the person. He was using a normal tone as of now, then, suddenly, his voice lowered and deepened as he spoke, "Do you understand? We are going to kidnap her and then I will teach her a lesson myself. Make sure nothing goes wrong with it." "Can't we just kill her where she stands? Kidnapping is a lot of hustle," said a voice from the other side. "No! Don't kill her. I want to torment her the way she has been tormenting my life with her interference. We dispose of her after that like we had been doing," said Roychowdhury with a scarier tone. ------------------------------------------ [A chat between Sharmishtha and her husband] "Should I come back quickly?" "As soon as possible." "Is that so?" "Yes," Sharmishtha replied. Suddenly, her voice broke down as tears rolled down her eyes. "Are you crying?" asked a concerned Rey. "Yes," replied Sharmishtha softly. "Why?" "I don't know." "I will come back in a week Love. Don't cry," Rey replied softly. "Such a child!" he thought. "I want a hug." "You will get a long hug and lots of kisses. I won't leave you alone ever again. Now wipe your tears and smile," Rey replied. ------------------------------------------------- The book doesn't contain sexual abuse or rape (it is not allowed and the author is not comfortable with those either) but it may contain violent scenes***

Welcome to The Sight

It was a busy morning in the office of The Sight. Last year, a renowned businessman, Mr. Roychowdhury collaborated with The Sight and saved it from getting closed here in Calcutta. The main office of The Sight was in the UK. The main branch had sent a managing director here in Calcutta to help it prosper. She would be arriving shortly today. That's why everything was in chaos. They had to get everything in order before her arrival. According to the seniors, she didn't like a mess. And, her disapproval could cost a lot as now the fortune of this office depends on her. Arjun Singh, the head of the investigative department, and Abhimanyu Roy, the Chief Editor, once worked with her long ago on a case. Mr. Roy gathered around everyone and started giving a speech he had prepared.

" All of you, listen carefully; it is a great opportunity for us to show that we don't stand any low in the Media Industry of India. It is also an opportunity to correct the mischiefs that happened. Learn from those mistakes. But don't repeat them, cause our newly appointed managing director is known to be a bit temperamental. She stands high in the field of investigative journalism. Her reputation in the media industry is compelling. That is why the main branch sent her. She praises hard work, courage, passion, and honesty. So, it is possible to win her heart. And in the light of recent events, I would like to say don't lie, don't publish or broadcast fake news, follow the ethics of press laws. If anyone does anything distraught, well, let's say you won't like the consequences. Now, everybody back to work."

" Well, that was cheerful, Sir," said Arjun smirking at him. " Well, you have worked with the lady, Arjun. You know her. Isn't she pretty much what I said?" asked Mr. Roy. Arjun smiled and replied, " Well, she did save my life, she knew it was perilous, yet she didn't care. I don't know if I could do that for a person I barely knew. She felt different that day."

"Mysterious person, you know. Very introverted, never talked about love. So everyone assumes she doesn't have a family. Can you believe it? A person working in media can be this shady?!" said Mr. Roy. Their discussion went on.

A flight landed in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport, Calcutta. Two people rushed towards the exit door. A lady in a black suit got out carrying a black handbag with her black overcoat hanging from it. She took off her sunglasses and shook hands with two men standing nearby to greet her. One of them greeted her, "Welcome to Calcutta, Madam. I am Soumen Dutta, and this is Animesh Dasgupta. We are here to pick you up. We arranged everything properly. You can take some rest in the hotel and then call us. We will take you to the office. Well, Madam, in which hotel will you be staying? They told us that you arranged your stay."

" I want to visit the office right now. Yes, I took care of my stay. They will come to pick me up from the office at my call", said the lady.

" Very well, Madam, this way." Three of them got in a car and left for the office. Meanwhile, Soumen called into the office and said, " Sir, we are on our way to the office. Madam wanted to visit the office first." He then cut the call and asked, " Madam, do you want to stop by somewhere to eat? It's already lunchtime."

" No, it's fine. I don't feel like eating right now", replied the lady.

"As you wish, Madam." Everything went quiet for a while, then the lady suddenly asked, "So, Soumen, what do you do? You were not here the last time I visited."

"Yes, Madam. I joined two years ago as a broadcast analyst."

"That is very nice, and what do you do? Animesh? You seem very quiet."

" I am a reporter, Madam. I just joined six months ago", replied Animesh quickly.

"Well, then you shouldn't have left your job to pick someone up at the airport. You should always take your job seriously. This is the first and last time I am abiding by this irresponsibility. Do you understand?"

" Yes, Madam," replied both of them. Now they understand why Mr. Roy was making so much fuss about her arrival. Although she said everything calmly, it felt sort of terrifying. Her words were simple, yet her voice and her allusion made them shiver with an unknown fear. They didn't know that she might get upset over this. She is somewhat high profile. So they came to pick her up from the airport personally so that she doesn't get offended. But she got upset because they treated her specially. As Animesh was thinking, the lady spoke again, " I am a simple person. Another fellow human being. You are here for the company. You are not supposed to run anyone's chores. I am grateful that you came to pick me up."

This time, her words went all the more confusing. Just a few minutes ago, she was hard as a rock. She was hard to understand. But, her words were right; they didn't join to satisfy someone's ego. Everything went silent again.

Animesh suddenly asked, " Did you come from UK, Madam?"

" Yes. What gave it away?" asked the lady looking up from the book she was reading.

"Nothing Madam just general wondering, nothing else," replied Animesh. But she wasn't convinced by his answer. But, she didn't want to add to the topic so, she kept quiet. No one is supposed to know that she was in Siliguri before coming down here. "It's a covert investigation. I will call Manohar later once after getting some time to myself. Everyone knows that I came to Calcutta straight from the UK. I need to keep it that way," she thought.

One and a half hours later, they arrived at the office. Animesh had called ahead. So, Mr. Roy was already standing at the gate to greet her with a bouquet made of lilies. As the lady got out of the car, Mr. Roy greeted her with flowers," Welcome to The Sight, Madam."
