This wasn't Kai being cocky, but rather him basing this off things he had accomplished.
He was 99% certain that he would have a high affinity with Internal Mana.
Of course, this theory wasn't baseless, it's just that nearly everything Kai done in the tutorial had circulated his Mana inside him.
His fusion with Umbra, circulated his Mana inside him, sharing his Mana with Esurient also technically circulated his Mana inside him. Even just using his Innate Ability in general circulated his Mana inside him.
Nearly his whole kit was based around Internal Mana, bar skills such as Nonchalance, Soul Flame, Soul Sense and Strong Mind, which were all passive or didn't require Mana.
There was also Soulcery, but Kai still wasn't exactly sure how that skill worked.
... Now that he thought about it, he really did need more practical skills. Not practical as in useful, but practical as in a skill that wasn't a passive ability or something like that.
But, there was still the possibility that Kai was overestimating himself and he only had an average compatibility with Internal Mana.
So to find out, he simply got back to reading.
To figure out your Internal Mana affinity, you use a different test. I want you to close your eyes and visualise yourself.
Now, I also want you to visualise your veins. Even if they end up being in the wrong position, you just simply need to have a circuit going around your whole body.
Then, I want you to imagine your Mana Veins traveling alongside your regular veins.
Following that, I want you to create a tiny ball of Mana inside your Mana Veins, it doesn't matter which location just as long as its inside.
This part... was actually extremely easy for Kai. It was basically what he had always been doing for Statshifting.
He got back into the sitting position he regularly used and imagined the black silhouette of himself. The only difference now was that while his soul was still in the centre of that black silhouette, now there was also two sets of veins circling around his body.
Now, I simply want you to move that ball of Mana around your Mana Veins without it dissolving or your Mana Veins getting damaged.
It seemed easy enough. The ball of Mana Kai had created was obviously the same seven colours that were also visible in his soul, meaning his Elemental Affinity was definitely just his soul.
And, not to Kai's surpise, the act of moving the imaginary ball of Mana was incredibly easy. It just slid through the artificial Mana Veins that he was imagining, its body still perfect and the imaginary Mana Veins still in tact.
For the next couple of minutes, he just played around with it. He tested how quick he could go, with his record being 27 seconds to get the ball of Mana around his entire body. He also reversed it, held it in place, at one point, he even had three balls of Mana moving inside his imaginary Mana Veins at once.
After he was happy with himself, Kai opened his eyes and smiled.
One thing I should mention in advance is that Internal Mana is slightly more dangerous that External Mana, considering that it all takes place inside your body, while External Mana takes place outside.
Kai's smile dimmed slightly.
That seemed like the type of information that you should put much higher up the page, not at the very bottom after the reader had already attempted it.
Of course, it's not like Kai had put an actual ball of Mana inside his Mana Veins, it was all imaginary and inside his head, but there was definitely someone at some point in history who read this page wrong and actually put a ball of Mana in their Mana Veins.
That definitely would have ended up with some sort of magical lawsuit.
Still, Kai was curious what his compatibility with Internal Mana was, so he got back to reading.
Now, how to tell your affinity.
If you could circulate the ball of Mana throughout your entire body in less than three minutes, then you have a high affinity with Internal Mana.
If you could do it in less than ten minutes, then you have an average affinity.
If you could do it in less than thirty minutes, then you have a low affinity.
And if you couldn't do it at all, then you have no affinity.
Obviously, Kai's smile came back instantly. It wasn't like he hadn't expected it, but he was still ecstatic nonetheless.
However, he was a little surpise that he had beaten the requirement by so much. To be said to have a high affinity, you had to move the ball of Mana around your body in less than 3 minutes, but Kai had managed it in less than 30 seconds.
Was his affinity with Internal Mana just that incredibly high?
Still, he had a feeling that he knew the reason. He had faintly felt it when trying to form that Mana thread, but he felt it clearer during that second test.
Due to the fact that his Mana's Elemental Affinity was his soul, it received the 20% boost that all of his soul related abilities had.
Still, Kai felt a little lost at that fact. He was almost certain that his Mana didn't receive that boost whenever he fused with Umbra, so why was it all of a sudden happening now?
The realisation hit him instantly.
The Mana Vein Enhancement.
This was just a theory, but, his soul was obviously much stronger than it should be. This could also mean that when Kai's journey first began, his Mana was already linked to his soul.
However, as he progressed, his soul steadily began to outclass his Mana, and that was only further amplified after his Soul Core reached C-Rank and he awakened his bloodline.
This meant that his Mana just couldn't handle the potency of his soul and just used rather basic Mana.
But that all changed after Kai got his Mana Vein Enhancement. Now, both his soul and Mana could be said to be on equal footing.
But that left another question in Kai's head.
If he hadn't been using his fusion to his full ability because of the fact that his Mana and soul weren't in harmony, how different would it be if he fused with Umbra now, considering the fusion would probably get the 20% boost now as well since it used Mana, and Kai's Mana was tied to his soul.
Sadly, it's not like Kai would have the oppurtunity to test it just yet. While he was slowly starting to think that maybe the people here weren't that bad, he wasn't just going to blindly trust them.
So that test would temporarily be put on hold.
Still, it's not like Kai had nothing he could do, there was still quite a lot of pages to get through.
And that was what he did for the next couple of hours. Kai immersed himself in the book, which was oddly peaceful. It was nice to have such a moment of respite after what he had gone through.
There were countless interesting topics and tests that he either read or attempted.
There was a chapter dedicated to different types of Elemental Affinities and their strengths and weaknesses.
Of course, their was the obvious ones like Water being a counter to Fire, even though his Soul Flame was an exception to that. Another obvious one was how Light and Darkness directly countered each other, both of them being incredibly strong and versatile against other elements but weak against their counterpart.
Of course, there were still things that Kai kind of knew, just they had different names.
Instead of Fire being a counter to Grass like it commonly was, Fire was more effective against an Elemental Affinity called Life.
But to Kai's surpise, Fire only countered one of the sub-branches of the Life Affinity that was focused on wildlife and plants, their was other branches of the Life Affinity, such as healing and even one that was based on mental attacks and resistances.
But then, the book went into a thing known as Origin Affinities, or more commonly know as rare and special as hell.
If someone did not posses a normal Elemental Affinity, there was the chance that they possessed an Origin Affinity. It was kind of like an Innate Ability, in the way that it would be special to them.
The author mentioned how one of the many gods of the Multiverse possessed an Origin Affinity based on electricity, which they then used to renovate an entire Subdimension into the Multiversal version of Las Vegas. Of course, the book itself didn't actually mention Las Vegas, it's just that the description given really reminded him of the city.
Maybe Kai would pay a visit there once these six months were up, he would be 18 by then...
But that topic left Kai thinking.
Was his soul Elemental Affinity an Origin Affinity?
It was obviously exclusive to him, considering that it was his soul and all, but would that be enough to call it an Origin Affinity?
He would probably find out the answer to that in a later chapter, so Kai just kept reading. In fact, he got so immersed in the book and lost track of time.
At least, he did, until he was snapped out of it by a knock on his bedroom door.
*Author Note*
Sorry about the no chapter yesterday. Hate to do this to you all, but I'll be busy for this week, meaning it will be 4 chapters instead of the regular 7. Next chapter is on Friday and the final one on Sunday. Next week I will return to a chapter a day.
