*Bing-Bong*
We interrupt this chapter to help explain what kind of lie the kaijin and the curator spirits had cooked up to prior Zhen Liu waking up.
Needless to say, it sounded absurd but the logic was more or less sound.
Building upon the past few interactions where Zhen Liu had the kaijin take on humans disguises before getting involved with the Zhen Clan's family affairs, the kaijin managed to come up with the idea that Zhen Liu's mysterious "master", was actually the member of a hidden sect known simply as the Nowhere Temple.
It wasn't the most creative name in the world, but it got the point across...mostly.
Using this "sect" as an excuse, the kaijin had a sound a tale about how they were tasked to protect their "fellow disciple", given his unusual proclivity to attract fortune and misfortune like a lightning rod.
