After a long night at the hospital, Jessica's health reports came back with positive results. Since everything was fine with her body, Alfred happily held her hands as they left the hospital. Once in a while, Jessica would steal a few glances at the grin on his face. He looked as if he had conquered the entire universe.
Within fifteen minutes, Alfred brought her back to her home.
"We're here." He said, breaking the thoughts she had her mind.
"Huh? Oh, we're back to my home." She scratched the side of her face and unbuckled the seatbelt. When she turned around, she noticed his seatbelt was also loosened. "Are you coming with me?" She asked out of curiosity.
"Of course. Even though this is a safe neighborhood, I don't want any accidents happening under my watch. If anything does happen, at least I'll be there to protect you." He reached for the handle and pushed the car door open.
"Oh.." She nodded absentmindedly. Everything was running on an extremely quick pace that she barely caught on with their progress. Although she felt their relationship struck faster than lightning speed, she didn't regret her choice.
While waiting for the elevator, Alfred worriedly observed her expressions. He didn't miss the complicated emotions shown on her face. When the elevator door opened, Alfred patted her back. "The elevator is here."
"Oh..En. Let's go then." She stepped into the elevator, and he followed closely behind. Once the door closed, the silence returned between them.
Seeing how quiet she became, his fists clenched. "Jessica, if you don't want to get married with me, you could tell me now. We don't have to go to the marriage bureau if you're unsure about it. You might have replied at the heat of the moment and didn't thoroughly considered it. So, if you want to take your words back, you still can. I could walk you to your door and leave."
"Eh? What are you saying? Why would I regret my words?" Jessica raised one finger after another counting the number of benefits she would gain from this marriage. After all ten fingers were used, she held his palm in her hands. "Geez, that question should be asked by me. What's so good about me? What if you're the one who regrets it? Ahh, it should be you who should be reconsidering your choice!"
Jokingly, Jessica leaned her chin on his chest and pulled him close to her body. She whispered in a cute spoiled manner. "Am I that pretty to catch your attention?" She meant it as a tease, but to him, it was a provocative move.
Lowering his head, he blew a puff of air into her ear. "Very pretty." His arm wrapped around her waist, leaving little to no gap between their torsos.
She gasped in response to the unexpected reaction. In her mind, she thought he would show a goofy look on his face. However, he had a confident smirk and even pulled her into his embrace. Shocked by the sudden discovery, she reacted slower than usual. As playful as she seemed, she never tried initiating moves on a guy - only on her girl friends.
Sliding her hand up his shirt, she felt the muscles under the fabric. She counted as her fingertips explored his body - eight pack abs! At this moment, she could hear angels ringing bells in the air.
"Like what you're touching? Should I give you a show on what's underneath this shirt when we get to your place?" He chuckled, feeling satisfied by her flushed reaction to his well-built body.
Jessica subconsciously nodded when she heard his question. As soon as she processed his words, she shook her head and replied. "No! You keep your shirt on and add more layers! Tempting someone to touch you is a crime!" She had no idea what she was saying, but anything would be better than admitting her thoughts.
Crazy thoughts popped up in her mind when she saw how close their bodies. Her sight landed on the elevator buttons, which made her thoughts run wild when she realized they were only one floor away from reaching her apartment. She gulped silently, hoping he didn't hear her swallow. Only she knew the kind of wildness she had in her mind after touching him.
She struggled, trying to wiggle out of his embrace. Of course, Alfred has already seen through her act and wouldn't let her leave his side. He thought to himself, 'Hehe.. Happy wife. Happy life. I'll seduce you slowly. One day, you'll fall for me like I already am for you.'
"I'm not tempting just anyone. I satisfy only my wife's eyes." He whispered into her ears, turning her cheeks crimson. She knew he was teasing her, but her heart felt weak against his words. Suddenly, the temperature in the elevator felt like a sauna.
Finally, after what felt like a forever ride to her floor, they've reached their destination. Once the elevator doors opened up, Jessica rushed to her apartment. Feeling the emptiness in his arms, he wiggled his fingers against air. "Aye, my wife ran away from me."
"Wife, wait for me! You need to take responsibility for what you started. You need to finish eating your meal!" His words had a double meaning behind it, but to others, it sounded normal. However, Jessica unlocked the door to her apartment and walked in without answering him. Though she went into her home, she left the door opened for him.
He smiled when he realized she wasn't angry at him. "Wife, I'm coming in!"
"I'm not your wife yet!" Jessica said while digging through her drawers.
Alfred stood by her side, studying her nervous actions. "Oh? But in a few hours, you will be. There's no difference between now and later."
"There is!" She tried arguing. Since she was concentrated on looking for her documents, she didn't notice that Alfred had already walked behind her. When she turned around with her red book in her hand, she almost lost her balance.
Instinctively, his arms wrapped around her waist to steady her steps. "Careful."
"Your fault!" She exclaimed with her arms around his neck.
Soft laughs escaped from his lips when she buried her face on his chest. "Yes. Yes. Your husband is at fault. We have time before the marriage bureau opens. Do you want to pack your things first or later?"
"Later." She thought about the things she needed to sort out before moving out. Although she didn't have many belongings, it would still take some time to sort out.
"Then, are you hungry? Tired? Or do you want to see what's under this shirt? Hahahaha." He laughed heartily as she playfully slapped his chest.
"You big pervert, how come I never realized you were this good at teasing?" She pinched his cheeks, stretching it lightly.
"There are many things that you don't know about me, but no worries, we have a lot of time." He whispered sweet words into her ears.
After fooling around for a while, they traveled to Alfred's home and retrieved his red book. An hour before the marriage bureau was opened, the both of them eagerly waited by the entrance. They held each other's hand and smiled sillily.
