Jasmine’s Decision

Jasmine is playing with Leonardo's earring on her study table.  The wooden table is placed in the corner of the narrow room.  Jasmine waits impatiently for Rosie to return home. She wants to tell the outstanding incident that happened to her today.

"Who is he?  Is it true that this earring can help me get into ALDE HS? "  Jasmine mutters softly.

[ Why don't I search for his fact? ] Jasmine thinks. She immediately snatches her cell phone and looks for Aldebaran's name on the search page.

"Wow, crazy!!  Super rich family?!  Seriously??"  Jasmine covers her gaping mouth with her hand.  She compares the cufflinks on the coat arms of the Aldebaran family to the engraving emblem on Leonardo's earring.  They are the same.

"Jasmine?"  Rosie, who has entered, calls her daughter.

"Mama."  Jasmine gets up cheerfully. She immediately helps Rosie with the groceries.

"Hello, Jasmine," A 35-year-old man says.  He is Sanches, Rosie's boyfriend, whom she has been dating for the past year. Both work at the Asian restaurant. Sanches is a chef, and Rosie is a waiter.  Rosie is only 33 this year. She still looks attractive to Sanches.

"Hello, Uncle."

"You have eaten?"  Rosie asks.

"Not yet."

"Uncle will cook roast beef for you. Do you want it?"  Sanchez interrupts their conversation to offer dinner.

"Wow!!  I want it!!  Uncle Sanches's roast beef is the best."  Jasmine's eyes glow with happiness. Sanches always brings home unused meat scraps from the restaurant. Not every day do they get any leftover meat, so if he gets some, Jasmine will be pleased.

"How was your work today?"  Rosie takes off her coat and hangs it on a wooden hanger near the shoe rack.

"Okay, Mom.  Nothing special beside ..." Jasmine's face blushes red, remembering how Leonardo asked her to chat with him today.  That extraordinary boy who suddenly appears in Jasmine's life managed to leave a deep impression in her heart.

"Besides what?"  Rosie asks curiously.

"Um ... nothing."  Jasmine cancels her story because the story is like a fantasy.  There is no way Rosie will believe a Young Master from the Aldebaran family will invite her to ALDE HS.  Well, Jasmine is indeed famous as a girl who likes to fantasize.

"Tara!!  Done!!"  Sanches is back and putting roast beef with Asian seasoning.

"Wow, this looks delicious."  Jasmine's saliva begins to flow inside her mouth.

"Let us eat." Rosie prepares the plates and cutlery.

The three of them enjoy a warm and delicious dinner.  Grilled meats with sweet, savory, and slightly spicy Asian spices have always been a favorite for Jasmine's tongue.

"Jasmine, there's something we want to talk to you about," Rosie says, grabbing Jasmine's hand and causing the girl to stop chewing.

"Are you guys getting married?"  Jasmine asks spontaneously. Everyone knows that love will end in a marriage bond.  Sanches and Rosie have known each other for a long time, even though they've only been dating for a year.

"Hmm, not yet. There's something else we'd like to say," Rosie answers awkwardly.

"Then??"  Jasmine starts to wonder; a second later, she screams, "Ah, I know!!  Mama is pregnant!! "

"Cough ...!"  Sanches chokes the beer he was drinking.

"Jasmine!!  Of course not."  Rosie's face flushes.

"Tsk, why are you guys clumsy?!  It's OK if you're pregnant. Mama is still young, and I also want a younger brother. "  Jasmine squeaks and purses her lips, smiling scornfully.

"Sigh... this Kid! Raising you needs a lot of money, let alone having another child.  Mama is not ready."  Rosie sighs long.

"We will move, Jasmine. Trying our luck in your mother's hometown."  Sanches takes Rosie's and Jasmine's hands.

"What???"  Jasmine gaps in shock.

"Of course, you will come with us.  We hope you can continue your education there. The cost of living in the village is much cheaper.  Uncle Sanches and Mama will open a small business restaurant there," Rosie explains.

"I see."  Jasmine looks down bitterly.

"Why are you sad, honey?  Don't you want to continue school?"  Rosie gets up and puts her arm around Jasmine's shoulder.

"Yeah, I want to continue school."

"So?  What is the problem?"

"Jasmine wants to go to ALDE HS," Jasmine says firmly.

"Cough...!"  Sanches chokes again.

"Jasmine!!  Mama told you not to fantasize.  Do you know for sure what kind of people can get in there?!  Their tuition fee costs the same as the rent for this house for one year. "  Rosie looks at her daughter with a sharp gaze. She doesn't mean to be teasing, but it is the truth.

"Jasmine will try, Ma.  You know that my scores were perfect.  Mama knows that Jasmine is a hard worker too.  Jasmine will raise money for the entrance fee and try to be the smartest student so that I can get a scholarship," Jasmine tries to persuade her mom.

"Sweetheart, the school is full of rich people. They don't need scholarships.  Then who will give you a scholarship?!"  Sanches strokes Jasmine's face, trying to make Jasmine stops her dream.

"Give me a month, ah no, two months, ah no, half a year??"  Jasmine bargains.

"All right, half a year.  If you don't get a scholarship and go to school there, Mama and Uncle Sanches will pick you up."  Rosie finally gives in to her teenage daughter's ambition.

"Jasmine will try!!"  Jasmine grins widely.

"It's good that you have the will!!  Uncle will support you!"  Sanches ruffles Jasmine's hair.

"When are you leaving?"  Jasmine asks curiously.

"Maybe next month, after Uncle's contract ends." Rosie gets the pepper.

"Well, it is a short time."

"Wish us success and can provide a decent living for you."  Rosie hugs Jasmine.

"Tsk, don't think about me anymore, Ma.  Think of your happiness, too. Jasmine is no longer a child. Ask Uncle Sanches to make cute babies for you to love."  Jasmine laughs loud.

"You, Naughty Girl! How can a little girl like you know about making babies!!"  Rosie is a little surprised by her daughter's words.

"Of course, I know. My biology teacher teaches about human reproduction, Ma." Jasmine giggles and continues to tease her Mom.

"Come on, let's go back to eat, Jas, Rosie!  The meat is getting cold,"  Sanches disturbs their chatting.

They continue the warm dinner.  Jasmine sees her mom's happy face and smiles. Deep in her heart, she is determined to enter ALDE HS and hopes to see Leonardo again.  For some reason, the image of his handsome face does not want to disappear from Jasmine's mind.

[I will get into ALDE HS.] Jasmine turns up the spirit in her heart.
