Secret

The summer breeze was warm as Adventure Bay people played in the fresh waters to shelter themselves from the heavy heat. As citizens were relishing their time in the seas, the Paw Patrol had their way of enjoyment. Chase, Marshall, Zuma, and Rocky were playing tug-of-war, with Chase and Rocky at one end, and Marshall and Zuma at the other, while Rubble was watching "Apollo The Super Pup." As the four pups played, Skye walked by, heading toward Katie's pet groomer and veterinarian to get her fur done, but little did she know a German Shepherd was staring in her direction.

"Wow, look at her." thought Chase to himself, "She looks beautiful as ever. I don't even know why she goes to Katie's?"

As his thoughts deflected Chase, he didn't realize Rocky was having trouble pulling on the rope.

"Chase a little help?" urged Rocky with the rope still in his mouth.

Chase never did hear Rocky, and eventually, Marshall and Zuma overpowered him and knocked him in the water pool.

"Ah, water! Water!" screeched Rocky, immediately getting out of it, which made Chase return to reality.

"Oh sorry, Rocky," apologized Chase, giving him a healthy smile, but Rocky just gosh stared at him, belligerent, with water dripping from his gray fur.

"Are you ok, dude?" asked Zuma.

"Yeah, why-why wouldn't I be? Stuttered Chase.

"Well, you have been acting like you're in your little world lately, Chase," said Marshall scratching his floppy ear with his left hind leg.

"He's probably gazing at Skye again," Rocky responded, shaking the water off him.

"What! No, I haven't, I was just staring at a squirrel."

The male pups knew Chase was twisting the truth.

"We know you like her, dude." said Zuma, "Why don't you just tell her already and get it over with."

"I don't-you mean- were just friends and I-I-I."

Chase felt pushed and could feel the defeat, so he decided to release the truth. Chase took a deep breath.

"Alright, fine, I do!" yelled Chase, "but I can't just ask her out. I mean, what if she doesn't feel the same way about me."

"You never know until you try my fellow companion," replied Rocky putting his arm around Chase's neck.

"Really?"

"Yeah!" They all said.

"And we'll help you, dude," replied Zuma.

Soon they all dragged Chase inside.

"Hey, Rubble! Come help us!" said Marshall as they dragged Chase, who was digging his claws into the ground.

Meanwhile, as Chase was active on, Katie was almost done with Skye's golden fur until she realized that she was gazing out into space.

"What do you think about Skye?" she asked.

"Oh, no one in particular," said Skye, not realizing her slip until it was too late, "I mean nothing."

"Ok, spill it, Skye, I know that you are hiding something."

"Alright, fine," said Skye taking a deep sigh, "I like Chase."

"I knew it!" shouted Katie in excitement, which made Cali jump off her comfortable hiding spot on one of themselves.

"What do you mean?" asked Skye, leaning her head.

"Face it, you flirt with him all the time," said Katie, fixing the curl on Skye's head.

"I do not!" screeched Skye.

Katie just gave Skye a stare.

"Sure," she said.

Skye knew the two girls defeated her, so she eventually acknowledged that she has a massive crush on him.

"Alright, fine, I do ok, but it's not that he likes me back."

"Well, there's only one way to find Skye."

"Oh no, I am not asking him out!" said Skye with eyes wide open.

"Sure, you can."

"How?" said Skye looking down, "How do I even know if he feels the same way about me."

"Put him through some sort of tests."

"Tests?"

"Yeah," said Katie putting down the hairdryer. "Here, I'll tell you some."

As Katie and Skye talked, Chase and the other male pups were just finishing with Chase at the lookout.

"You guys think that this will work?"

We asked Chase.

"It has to work," said Rubble.

"Yeah, because we spent hours making you look your best."

Soon Robo-Dog barked, as he was coming Chase's fur, which everyone assumed was a "yep" in his language.

"See, even Robo-Dog agreed," said Rocky.

"I hope you're right guys, because this may be my only and last chance," said Chase, looking sad.

"Don't worry, Chase, there will be more chances," said Marshall, hoping to cheer his friend up. "And besides, here she comes now!"

Chase started to get nervous again when he saw the Cockapoo coming up from the driveway and started panicking while Robo-Dog was now around his neck.

"Calm down, Chase, it's just Skye," said Zuma.

With that said and Chase looking his best, they all struggled to push Chase out of the lookout, but they managed to do so and locked the glass sliding doors, making Chase panic even more.

"Guys, I take it back! I take it back!" Yelled Chase while knocking on the glass.

All the pups smirked as he begged despairingly to be back in, but the guys got a kick out of it and just waved at him instead, ridiculing him. As Chase kept beating the glass, he legally gave up, acknowledging they weren't letting him in anytime shortly, so he just skimmed his face down the glass, making a high pitched sound. When he finally quit his rage, he noticed Marshall pointing to something behind him.

"Chase?"

Chase recognized that beloved tender voice anywhere, and he quickly got up on his paws and turned around white as the driven snow in winter.

"Oh, Hey Shye, how-hows it going?

"What are you doing Chase," she asked, lifting an eyebrow in perplexity.

"Oh I was just, uh," said Chase as he was trying to come up with an explanation for why he was acting so feeble-minded, "I was just playing spies with the others who double-crossed me for the Dr. Antifreeze, and I need to get the shiny, emerald green, bone gem.

"Can I join? Said Skye.

"Sure!" answered Chase, wagging his tail in excitement.

"Really. Then let me get something for this operation real fast." Skye said as she raced towards her pup-house.

"No rush," told Chase to himself.

When Skye left, Chase felt the relief off his chest but then returned to him. When he turned around to his friends, they all had the look of disappointment on their faces, and even Marshall was carrying a three-point-one sign up to mention him of aborted awn mission. Rocky soon opened the sliding glass doors back up, still giving him a sour look.

"What?" asked Chase.

"Oh, come on, why didn't you ask her."

"I was about to but then-" but before he could finish his sentence, he noticed the other pups with their jaws hanging open.

With confusion, Chase also faced their direction to see what was going on, and soon he joined in with the others when he saw Skye. Skye had a rose-red, silk dress on with a fake diamond bracelet around her carpus, which is also her wrist, and she also performed in slow-motion to him, either that or she was doing that is persistence.

"You look astonishing," said Chase when Skye walked towards him.

"Thanks," she said, blushing in embarrassment.

"But you didn't have to go that far for a game."

Skye just laughed in amusement.

"Talking to the pup who's wearing a tux and cologne," She said, smelling near him, "mmm Nina Ricci, not my favorite, but will do for now."

"Alright, alright, let's just get this game going again," declared Rubble as he munched on one of his dog biscuits.

After a long day of play, Ryder came outside and told the pups it's time to watch a movie together. Chase and Skye changed out of their most suitable clothes and went inside, where Ryder was holding up a flyer that he pulled up from Mr.Porter's.

"Look, guys!" said Ryder in excitement.

"What is that? Asked Marshall.

"It's a dance that Mayor Goodway and Captain Turbot are holding at city hall for the 110th anniversary of Adventure Bay this weekend."

"What the theme?" asked Zuma

"Springtime in Paris, France, bring someone you love, your best friend or someone you appreciate, for this upcoming dance," said Ryder reading some of the fine print on the flayer.

"You hear that, Chase," whispered Marshall, "This is your chance to ask her."

"But what if she doesn't feel the same about me, Marshall," Chase whispered back.

Marshall looked up and noticed Skye looking back, looking confused, which made Marshall retreat to Chase.

"Oh, don't be a big baby Chase."

After Ryder got done describing everything about the dance to the pups, they all went to the large T.V and began to get everything ready for the movie. Soon after, with the puppies comfortable bean bags placed and the fluffy, white, buttery, popcorn ready, they all crouched down and started to watch a comedy, romantic film. Still, as Chase watched the clip, Skye went over with her beanbag chair and lay right next to him, making Chase fly off the handle.

"Oh my god! Oh my god!" thought Chase to himself, trying to retain the emotions inside of him.

Near the end of the movie, everyone was fast asleep minus Skye and Chase, but Skye looked like she could pass at any given time, but as time passed, she did. Chase was still watching the movie until he sensed something soft urged upon him, which he realized Skye had fallen asleep on him, which made Chase apprehensive. Even he didn't want to wake her up by leaving; eventually, he went to sleep as well but without mentioning Skye goodnight.
