JUST ANOTHER ISEKAI

The sea looks beautiful, the sky looks pretty, the stars are my light, but their so far away. I wish I could make them my own. I'm hungry.

Chapter 2.13.7: Tick, Tock

"So what are you gonna do now?" Remi asked, walking up beside me. "It's a custom for necromancers to bury all those who have died for matters related to their cause and send them off with a proper funeral."

"But..." I said.

"This is the corpse of a necromancer; from his birth, he had no soul, and this is his final resting place." Remi looked up to the sky, a sad smile. "Empty was he born and empty did he die. For him, there is no heaven or hell as is for all who are born into necromancy." Remi recalled the words he heard from an old memory, one far, far too old.

I stared at him, and he looked at me, then turned back, saying, "Well? You guys feel really lucky now, don't you?"

I turned back as well, wondering what he was talking to. By then, all the spears had turned into shimmers of light.

Before me stood souls of the dead, the souls of the soldiers who had died in a pointless battle. They looked just as they did before they became butchered corpses. Their faces and expressions, young and fresh, exactly as they did before they were massacred and before they appeared continuously as cursed spirits trying to kill me during my fight with Mizvick.

Their bodies were transparent and made of shimmers of bright purple lights that seeped out like mist into the air.

I could still recognise all of them. A female spirit who was crying once dreamed of becoming a holy knight, another bald male spirit dreamed of owning a restaurant, and the other spirits had similar dreams that they'd shared at the campfire the night they had their last meal. I stood at the corner listening to it all. Every last one.

"You get the chance to breed contempt in this world long after you die, and when you choose to finally pass on, you can still get reincarnated, or who knows? Maybe you'll get to live in the paradise of heaven." Remi talked and acted like a hysteric with the face of a deranged fool.

"Fucking bastards." And he flipped like a switch. "You live your lives and die, and afterwards, you get to live for as long as you wish and afterwards you get another life, your dreams never die and your wishes come true, but for us death is the end. You don't have the right to be angry or seek revenge! Piss off.

... it was rare to see Remi angry and that'she only gets angry for the sake of others. He probably knew fully well that it wasn't wrong for them to try and seek revenge. After all, maybe if I had planned it a little differently, they would have all survived; but he still got angry anyway...for my sake.
