Chapter 11: Apologize (Part 2)

I put a cup of tea in front of her, then sit. "What do you want to talk about?" Honestly, I want to finish my next book as fast as I could.

"Why Tyler? Do you do that because of him!?" It's not that simple, Irene. "Julia. I'm not talking to a statue, right? Why him!? He…"

"He a gold digger, yes. Fame sucker newbie." We were silent for a minute to keep our head cold. All this time, this is what I want. We both not losing our temper. Why now, Irene? Why?

Irene grabbed her handbag, then slap my cheek hard. She wanted to leave? That's fast. She rarely left the discussion before she got the answer, but why? "Whatever game you played right now. I don't care. I don't know who the fuck Tyler is, and…" she glared at me. "Don't call me ever again!"

She slammed the door in front of my face. If you were like that, Irene. I don't want to lose you. Whatever it takes, I will keep you as my girl.

"You alright?" Evelyn comes in and brings what I needed for. She puts the plastic on my desk and a stack of book, then tapped my shoulder. "I will go on the field trip tomorrow."

"Okay."

Evelyn furrowed her brow and waving her hand in front of me. "What's wrong with you?" I keep staring at the door, then exhale slowly through my mouth. Shit. Am I under her spell right now? "Oh, I almost forgot something." Evelyn handing me an envelope with my father's company logo.

I tossed the envelope inside the trash can. "You can go home now," I said.

Evelyn only replied with a nod, then get outside of my room. I picked the envelope before and opened the inside it. A letter? I took a deep breath, then read it carefully. I haven't seen his writing since I was in 10th grade.

As I promise, I will tell you about my family. Let's just say I came from a rich family. My dad was a successful businessman, of course, and my mom was from a royal family. I lost my mom when she tried to give birth to me. He loves my mom, rather than me.

Years later, when I was in 10th grade. That day will become the last day I lived with my dad because he asked my uncle, which is my foster parent, to adopt me. I don't know what I did wrong. For him, I was just a kid with lots of bad luck and disgrace.

At first, I thought my dad will come to see me every year, and he didn't. He didn't even call me or… maybe send a message. All he did was send me more money. That money is still safe in the offshore account.

I picked my phone, and this time, it's from an unknown number. I reject the call because I don't know who that was. Maybe… Henry?

I put my phone on the nightstand, then closed my eyes for a minute. In my life before…

*Knock… knock… knock…

Evelyn come back again? Did she leave something? "Come in!"

Rose came in with a paper bag in her hand, then a half crack of beer? Last time we were drunk, it ended up bad. "Hey! You look pale."

I raised my hand, then nodded. "Not really." Play it cool, Julia. Whatever she said, just put your straight face, and remember she's a straight.

We sit in the middle of the room. "I… buy you a dinner," she said as open the container. I picked one of the poke bowl, then smell it. "It's from the Hawaiian new restaurant on Sirloin Street."

Holy shit! This is great! I looked at Rose, who keeps devouring her food. Oh, my God! "This is great," she nodding her head as she wiped her mouth with a napkin.

"I'm agree with that," she open a can of beer. "How's your book going?"

Right, I should interview the whole people in the town about Mr. Harold. The reason I did that is that it's a documentary about someone, and that person was Theodore Jackson Harold II. At least that book was my gateway card from my dad.

"It's…" my phone was ringing again. This time Kirana called me. "I'm sorry, Rose. I should take this." Kirana. When I meet you at the next meeting, I'll make sure you will apologize to me. I looked at in front of me. There you are.

I get out from the store, then approach her. I grabbed her to the alley, then pinned her to the wall. "My dad send me a letter, Kirana. If anything happened to Rose. You have my word." I glared into her eyes, then let go of her.

"I'm not here because of him, Julia." She said. Then? What are you coming for? "A woman name Irene Jang. She… contact me, and she said you were her girlfriend!"

I closed my eyes, then punched a wall next to Kirana's face. A screamed heard, then I looked at the source. Rose, what you doing here? Shit. This is bad.

This is fucking bad!

Two women in front of me. My cousin on my right, and Rose on my left. I don't know where to start. "Julia." I lifted my head.

Alright, this is awkward. "Listen…"

She shook her head, then pushed me. "I thought you can control your anger." I know how it goes. She grabbed her purse, then leave her food and empty beer can.

I shook my head and laughed at my stupidity. I thought it would be easy because I already unlock the shackles. Turns out, it was vain.

I picked a can of beer. "Julia, I…"

I shook my head, then took a deep breath. "Go home, Rana. We talk tomorrow." I stared at her. She packed her purse, then leave me alone. I should lock the door before I forgot, then continue my dinner.
