Jujutsu Kaisen: The Heian Era

"In the end, it's always about power." Tetsuya Hirano's words to Kaito Fujimoto after killing his father all those years ago. "It's okay to focus on yourself every once in a while." Those words were foggy. Who said them? Kyofu stares down a crossroads. To his left, a beautiful woman with dark blue hair. To his right, a man with stitches on his forehead smiling warmly. "I love you." Tetsuya Hirano's words to his son right before his death. ********************* This story is based off the Heian Era of Jujutsu Kaisen. Kyofu's Recollection

Kyofu lay awake in the darkness of his room. His mind had begun trailing back to that night. The night everything changed for him.

Why would you lie for me? Did you really love me? Was I wanted after all? Were you lying when you said I wasn't?

The questions weighed heavily on his mind. His gaze drifted to the small necklace he had in his hand. His mother's. A tear welled up in his eyes as he clutched the necklace close to his heart as he curled up into a fetal position. Kyofu closed his eyes and succumbed to sleep.

In his dream—or perhaps it was a memory—Kyofu found himself immersed in a strange sensation, a mixture of love and resentment swirling within him. He recalled the warmth of his mother's womb, the comforting embrace of her love, but beneath it was this feeling of anger. Discord.

Yes, now he remembered. He had a twin. He felt a connection with him, but that feeling of resentment continued throughout their time together. Why was he so angry?

Then he remembered. That incredible hunger he felt. It gnawed at him. It was driving him deeper into this abyss. Something that he remembered feeling the night he killed his father's murderers.

"No..please, no.. I refuse", he pleaded silently. "What did I do?!"

Kyofu devoured his twin.

The dream shifted, and the surreal landscape shifted from the warmth of a womb to a nightmarish vision. There was a shrine in front of him. It casted eerie red light around the dark landscape.

The floor was covered in water, yet Kyofu noted that his feet wasn't wet. Kyofu's eyes narrowed at the shrine as he analysed it's features.

At its base, a mosaic of bones and teeth arranged itself in patterns that seemed to writhe and twist in the flickering red night. Each skeletal fragment was worn, as if they had been here for a long time.

There were skulls on the side of the shrine that formed open mouths, tongues stretching out as they twisted and writhed in the dim light of the chamber. From within the depths of one of the mouthes, a bright, red, fiery light burned fiercely.

Kyofu stared into the fiery abyss. With a trembling hand, Kyofu reached out toward the blazing light.

"Is this.."

"Your cursed technique?"
