Chapter 19: The Damned Ones I

Undead!! The Damned Ones. It's impossible for them to be here. Yuji's thoughts were indeed correct, there is no way for an undead to come to this world.

For an undead to take form, there are some crucial factors. First is death, not just an ordinary death, but a genocidal level death with deep hatred. The next one is to supply dark energy to the corpse, through this process we can raise undead—this process is called necromancy. Dark energy is the base of any undead creatures but here there was no such thing happened, neither genocide nor necromancy. Which leaves only one option,

Somehow, the dark spell I used influenced this process. But that is impossible unless the dark mana reacted with cursed energy.....Ah, shit, I should have seen this coming.

The revelation hung in the air, a moment of clarity amidst the chaos. The merge of dark mana and cursed energy had given rise to an aberration that defied the known laws of this world. The good news is that there is no threat of world destruction, and the bad news is they are going to appear frequently.

While Yuji was in deep thought, Megumi's voice sounded.

"There is something wrong with them. My attack is not doing much damage,"

"I am actually thinking the opposite, it's seems like mine is attack is extremely effective against them, but their number is too much and I am running out of nails" Nobara replied as she put one nail in the skull of the undead and exploded it.

The trio exchanged wary glances, realizing that the undead curses possessed a resilience beyond their expectations. The usual tactics that proved effective against conventional curses seemed to falter against the undead.

"If anyone has any plans, then now is really a good time," Nobara said, her frustration evident as she pushed against one of the undead abominations.

"We need to get out of here quickly. Megumi, you said your shikigami can find the way to the outside, right?" Yuji suggested. However, before Megumi could respond, a dark portal materialized beneath Nobara, pulling her in with an ominous force.

"Nobara!"

That was fucking, a dark portal. A spell, a dark spell user? While Yuji is mostly calm in any situation, what's happening right now is outside of his predictions.

Megumi, scanning the area with his Divine Dogs, spoke up, "It's as if the portal was specifically targeting her. There's something unnatural about this." He was looking at the portal, which hadn't closed yet.

"Megumi, you go outside and tell Kiyotaka to cancel the 'curtain'. And I will find Nobara." Hearing Yuji, Megumi looked at him.

"Have you gone crazy? And why do we need to remove the 'curtain'? "Megumi's worry is indeed valid, any sane man will know the portal in front of them is a trap.

"No, and only sunlight can kill them, so we need to remove the 'curtain' and make a hole in the ceiling for sunlight to enter. And I need to make sure she's okay," Yuji insisted. His years of experience tell him to go.

"How do you know about that?" Megumi asked.

"Because Sukuna told me."

"Sukuna? Yuji, it's too risky. We don't know what we're dealing with here. We can't trust a cursed spirit word," Megumi reasoned, the urgency of their situation weighing heavily on his shoulders.

"Trust me on this, Megumi. I know what I doing. I would be suggesting a team approach but we need someone to inform the outside, what going on here. Because of your Shikigami, you should be the one."

Megumi hesitated, torn between the trust he had in Yuji's experience and the caution instilled by his training. The mention of Sukuna, a notorious and unpredictable cursed spirit, added an unsettling layer to their predicament.

"Yuji, relying on Sukuna is a gamble. He's not known for altruism or reliable information," Megumi cautioned, his brow furrowed with concern. "But if you're sure about this plan, I'll trust your judgment. I'll go outside and inform the others about the situation. We'll need all the help we can get... Don't die Yuji."

I can't even if I wanted to. Yuji said that mentally then he turned to the portal and jumbed into it.

Seeing Yuji jumped into the portal, Megumi turned around.

"Show the exit." The divine dogs barked.

Nobara, who was captured by the curse, opened her eyes only to see darkness all around. It's not a darkness that blinds eyes but more like a lunar night.

"Where am I?" Nobara murmured. I sense curses.

Turning around, Nobara witnessed a horde of skeleton abominations.

"Right, bring it on. Let's see who will last longer, my nails or you fuckers." Just then, she felt another presence.

"You know you are going to die at this rate."

"Yuji!! What took you so long? I was growing old here," Nobara said, feeling a lot more relieved that Yuji was here, though she couldn't say that openly.

"My flight was late. And here," Yuji said sarcastically, then handed her a bunch of nails.

"Where did you get these?" Nobara asked as she saw the nails she uses to hunt curses.

"I'll tell you about that later. Now we have to focus on them." Just as they prepared for the onslaught, one of the skeletal abominations lunged forward, its bony limbs slashing through the air. With reflexes honed by countless battles, Nobara swiftly dodged the attack, her movements graceful yet lethal.

"Time to show these bony bastards what we're made of," Nobara declared, her determination unwavering as she readied her nails for a counterattack.

With a quick moment, She hammered one of the nails, which hit point blank skull.

The darkness cast an otherworldly glow on the battlefield as the clash between the living and the undead unfolded. The horde of skeleton abominations closed in, their eerie presence charged forward with the intent to rip both their life.

Nobara and Yuji fought side by side because of Gojo's training for the past few days, their movements synchronized in a deadly symphony. Each strike of Nobara's nails and every punch from Yuji aimed to dismantle the skeletal foes.

Of course, as undead are partially resistant to bludgeoning damage because of that Yuji's pure physical power is doing as much damage as Nobara's cursed technique.

Wish I could use my power more freely without causing such disturbance. Yuji thought as he punched another skeleton in the skull.
