Shuichi sat in front of Boss Ryouta in a luxurious sofa that was erected in a deeply hospitable looking room. The room was at the back of the warehouse in which Shuichi had met Ryouta for the first time.

In complete contrast to the rigid air and the strict work environment of the warehouse, the room had an extremely accomodating environment to it; adorning several little things and designs that were pleasing to the eye and made the overall look of the room seem... serene.

Looking at the state of the room, Shuichi was a bit surprised at first. Having such an environment, almost mimicking the look of a five star hotel in his previous world was a bit baffling. One had to know, the living environments he was used to living in was far far different that here. his predecessor might have been used to the technology here, but he wasn't.

It was one of the reasons that Shuichi was not able to stay still for too long. It was just too boring. The big entertainment media around the world were either not a thing get or only getting started. There was not a lot of things to do other than reading some manga.

Being in a somewhat familiar environment made Shuichi feel relaxed and at ease.

But even if he was feeling relaxed and cozy, it didn't really apply for everyone present.

He looked before him, the chubby man that sat in the sofa looked uncomfortable.

Boss Ryouta, the gang leader of the area Shuichi lived in moved about in his seat, seemingly nervous about having been called for a meeting so soon.

One had to know, it was only one day before that Shuichi had become the 'leader' of their gang. Although Ryouta was promised power and position among the top seats of the underworld, even to an international level, he did not expect for the miraculous young man to call for him so soon.

Under Shuichi's gaze, his piercing eyes that seemed to study and analyse every part of his being, he was nervous. As such, he shifted around his seat, trying to muster some confidence to speak.

Yet Ryouta wasn't a gang leader for nothing. it did not take long for him to regain his bearings.

"Then, may I ask why you have proposed this meeting?" He asked, pouring himself a drink while pushing a cup of coffee towards Shuichi.

Seeing the cup, Shuichi raised an eyebrow.

"Hmm? You got alcohol while I get a coffee?" He asked with amusement.

"Eh?" Ryouta held a blank look for a second before he got flustered. "A-ah, I apologize! I didn't realise that you like drinking! It was a small misconception on my part!" He said hurriedly while grabbing another glass to pour a drink for Shuichi.

Seeing this, Shuichi quickly stopped him, "No no, it's okay, I don't drink in the first place. I was just messing with you..."

Shuichi's predecessor did not have a taste of any alcoholic of caffeinated beverages in general. He had tasted them more than once on several occassions, but it seemed that he simply didn't have a knack for them. So naturally, being the inheritor of his body, and thereby his tastes, Shuichi was the same.

In his past life caffeine was like fuel for Shuichi. As an office worker who was exploited to the bone, caffeine was a vital part of Shuichi's past life; he practically operated on it. Yet for some reason, Shuichi was unable to get into it for some reason. Same with the drinks.

"...Is that so?" Ryouta held a not so pleased look on his face.

"Right. So, how's your gang members? I didn't beat them too badly did I?" Shuichi asked with a nonchalant tone, as if he didn't care about them in the slightest. Though he didn't, he still wanted them to live. Mainly so he could see if any of them had suffered a near death experience and had it yielded any results that could potentially lead to their awakening as a sorcerer.

Though the chances were small, it was more than enough. Shuichi had high hopes for Ryouta's gang members; after all, if they could become sorcerers then it would simply be easy for him right?

"They... Among the 73 men you beat up, 28 had to be hospitalized due to severe complex fractures. There were also some cases of internal bleeding. The others while not so severe had to be treated as soon as possible. Right now, they ought to be resting." He said while leaning forward from his seat, taking a sip of the glass.

"I see." He replied. "Is that why there were so few people in the warehouse today?"

That's correct, there were indeed fewere people in the warehouse today. And it was exactly for the reason that one would expect. Shuichi had single-handedly taken care of almost all the gang members, the only ones that were left were those that were out earning money and for extortion, which numbered in 126.

As of right now, 70% of them had to be out to stabilize their business and not alert he other gangs of their decreased manpower. Any fluctuations in business may alert the opposing gang, one ought to be very careful of that in such a risky business as the Yakuza.

"...Yes." He replied expressionlessly, not wanting to say anything more lest he offended the young man.

The ones with power tended to have a short temper. That was something Boss Ryouta had learned many times over. Those that enjoyed a higher position over the others rarely had to care for the consequences of their actions. If one pissed off a powerful man, they should not be too surprised to see themselves get killed. But if a powerful man pissed off a normal person, would he suffer any consequences?

Of course not!

Nonchalance was a luxury that was enjoyed only by the strong.

If they could take care of everything coming their way, was there a need to worry?

"Hmm. It is a pity. Do remember to inform me when they recover." Shuichi said.

"I will do so."

"And how long would that take exactly?"

"Hmm. Let's see... For the normal complex fractures without any other injuries, they would be discharged in about 6 weeks, while a full recovery might take about 9. As for the others, the time might be way larger considering the extent of damage and the specific organ that was affected." He said.

Shuichi smiled wryly, not knowing what to say. But even then, it was their fault for messing with him. He just wanted to talk, no? Was there a reason for them to antagonized him?

"Then let's move on to the reason for this meeting." He continued. "... I need a new house."

Ryouta sat quiet for a second, until he spoke with a somewhat baffled and surprised voice.

"Eh?"

"Huh?"

"What?" He asked, seeking confirmation.

"I said I needed a new house. Preferably on the outskirts of Tokyo. Could you arrange it, I don't have any specific structure in particular though a somewhat modern theme might be nice." He said with a smile, ignoring the confused look Ryouta was giving him.

"Is that truly the reason for the meeting?" He asked again, not sure if he was being tested or if Shuichi was actually being serious.

"Is that so hard to believe? I need a better house you know."

"No. That's not what I mean." He continued. " I'd thought this would be more about the promise you made yesterday. I kind of expected to be handed some tasks but is this really all you've arranged this meeting about? You could've just asked for the house on the phone you know..." He said, trailing off a bit at the end.

"No, of course not!" Shuichi denied the possibility.

Of course he had another purpose in arranging the meeting! Of course!

While it was true that Shuichi had opted to meet face to face because he didn't have anything else to do other than sit around and meditate in his shop, he had another purpose in cooming here!

'Didn't he say something about this in the phone.' He thought to himself.

"I want to talk to you about sorcery. I want to talk to you about the various altitudes and things about them."

Hearing the word 'sorcery', Ryouta's eyes lit up like the brightest jewels.

He nodded silently, promoting him to keep going.

"You see, sorcery is not something you can just learn." Shuichi said as he began to let his cursed energy out into the air, the cold blueish energy seeping out of his body to permeate the environment.

The temperature in the room instantly began to drop, as the air in the room got heavier and gloomy. Ryouta felt goosebumps all over his skin and his temple instantly overflowed with sweat.

'What a weird pressure... So powerful...' he thought feeling an eerie and uncanny feeling of dread and terror suddenly grip his heart.

'I want it...' His mind wandered off, thinking of the possibilities and potentiall benefits of having such a power at your disposal.

"Sorcery, or in the language we use, Jujutsu is something that is fueled by the negative emotions of mankind." Shuichi said.

"Jujutsu in the simplest sense is the use of curses. Negative emotions, especially strong ones like hatred, anger, fear and sorrow give rise to negative energy called cursed energy.

"Cursed energy is the fuel of all sorcery, and hence, jujutsu sorcerers are people that use their negative emotions and the inner turmoil of their self to deal with supernatural entities.

Supernatural entities in this case being referred to as creatures brithed by accumulation of cursed energy. Cursed spirits." Shuichi finished, reeling back the cursed energy he was exuding.

As he withdrew his cursed energy, Ryouta breathed a heavy exhale, pushing out air that he had been holding all this time.

"Cursed energy is a malevolent force. It's nature as a negative energy can have drastic effects on humans and things related to it. The amount of people that die every year to curses is astronomical and can't be defined with mere statistics." He finished and stopped. He looked at Ryouta, waiting for him to digest all the information that he had provided.

"Then... doesn't that mean that you jujutsu sorcerers are like secret sorcerers that save the world in the dark?" He asked.

"Well... Not exactly. While the sorcerers do not tend to reveal themselves to public and make quite an effort in doing so, their really in plain sight if you look hard enough. Think about it, the best place too hide something is in plane sight right?" Shuichi asked.

Seeing him nod in response, he continued.

"Japanese people have a unique constitution. Their minds are especially hardwired to precieve cursed energy and curses, giving Japan an overall monopoly over cursed energy, not to mention the fact that there are various barrier that surround the entirety of Japan, limiting the overall number of cursed and sorcerers that can exist overseas."

"Then... How do you learn it?"

Seeing his eager and excited expression, Shuichi was troubled. He could not think of a way to put it in a way that would not take away the poor man's hope. He had seen just how fascinated he was about the entire thing.

Staying quiet for a moment, Shuichi decided that it was best to just be direct about the entire thing.

"Well... That's the thing... You can't." He said with an easy going smile on his face.

"...what?!"
