The Haunting Chase

"Poor Alex, only if he were to be in someone else's group now, he wouldn't have to die," said the guy in the white t-shirt.

"Huhh!!??" expressed Marie.

"Our objective is to kill Eleanor j'Arc and Marie Florakis," said Serena.

In the mist-filled lane, the lifeless body of Alex and shattered pieces of prism lay sprawled behind Eleanor and Marie as they huddled together against the wall, their faces etched with panic and questions as they were illuminated by the eerie glow of the teal-coloured eyes of the girl named Serena, who had taken Alex's life.

"But why? What have we done to you?" asked Marie.

"Because it's an order," replied Serena.

"Ordered by who?" asked Eleanor.

"You don't have to know all that."

Marie walks off and stands in the centre, showing confidence.

"We are the ones getting killed here; at least we have the right to know why we are being killed."

"As the report said, she surely talks too much. Right Han?"

Said one more voice of a girl that came from behind. Eleanor and Marie looked towards the mist, and the girl wearing a hoodie and tight denim shorts came forward.

"Hehe, I know, right, Yeona," says Han.

"What's up with you guys? You do know killing anyone means straight away disqualification," asked Eleanor.

....

There was a long silence after that, as no one said anything about what Eleanor said.

*Pfft*

"Bwhahahahahah.."

Yeona, let's have a big laugh after that.

"Hahhaha!" laughed Han as well.

*Gulps*

Meanwhile, Marie and Eleanor had realised that they were in big trouble and must find a way out of this situation, as they had sure decided to kill them off.

"Did you hear her, Serena? Han?" said Yeona, holding her stomach as she laughed through.

"It's pointless to speak to these cute, innocent ladies," said Han as he leisurely walked over his gaze over Marie's body. He stares at her chest and the ripped part of the sweater near her thighs.

"It'll be a waste to lose this one, though."

"Oiii Han!! What are you thinking?" asked Yeona.

She got irritated at how he gestured over to Marie.

"Nothing Nothing. I just like to have some fun before killing her off. There's a few hours still remaining anyway," said Han.

"You are such a dick," said Yeona.

Han descended from the top of the lane. With a deft landing, he stops before Marie and pierces his gaze on hers.

"Heyy cutie. I won't hurt you. Let's spend some quality time together," said Han, trying to touch her shoulders.

*Clank*

Han stops on his toes as the chains wrap around his legs.

"Huhh!??"

"Don't you dare touch her," said Eleanor, with strict eyes.

"Yo, are you in your right min-"

*Thap*

Before Han could complete his sentence, Marie jumped and kicked Han's face.

Despite Takin Marie's kick, Han remained steadfast; his body didn't move an inch.

Eleanor retracts her chains back to her.

"Did you like it? Want one more? You creep," asked Marie, smiling.

....

"I was trying to be kind with you, but now you have done it," said Han.

A fiery rage ignited within Han's eyes, while his aura surged and expanded.

"I will kill you, bitch."

"Ahh, now he has lost it," said Yeona.

Just then, the light flickers in Eleanor's side eye as she sees that light orbs have been collected around Serena. She is ready to attack.

"Let's end this fast and leave," said Serena.

"Oh, shit-" said Eleanor.

The air reverberated with the symphony of light charging, building up in intensity until it erupted into a blinding glow.

"Marie run!" said Eleanor.

Eleanor and Marie both nodded in agreement; their synchronised movements led them to cross paths on the opposite side, breaking through the lane with a resounding thud echoing through the air.

"I'll go after Eleanor. You two take care of Marie," said Serena.

"Alright."

As Eleanor dashed through the mist-filled lanes, Serena's relentless pursuit echoed behind her, their boots reverberating hard against the cold, damp grounds. With a flicker of movement, Serena would disappear, only to materialise ahead. Eleanor, her heart pounding in her chest, wielded her Witchcraft. Each strike was aimed at halting Serena's advance.Yet, with an uncanny grace, Serena blocked Eleanor's attack with her light, which emerged like countless knives in the air.

"Why are you after us?" asked Eleanor.

....

Clash* Thud*

Serena gave no response, as she had already said that it didn't matter. It is an order, so they shall follow it till the end.

"What will happen if we die? Huh?"

Eleanor got more restless as the silence of Serena stretched for long.

Their attacks clashed as they kept dashing around from place to place, lanes after lanes.

After clashing through multiple times, Serena swings herself from between the chains of Eleanor and swiftly draws a forceful kick on her stomach.

*Thud*

Eleanor's back bashes on one of the lanes.

"Arghh-"

Serena opens up her palms, and light forms itself straight like a long sword and propels itself towards Eleanor's face.

In a heart-stopping moment, Eleanor unleashed her Witchcraft, casting it skyward. With a surge of aura, she scaled on top of the lane.

"Stop!! Let's talk, OK?" said Eleanor.

Serena launches herself onto the lane along with Eleanor.

"Ohh god. You aren't going to stop, it seems," said Eleanor, running away.

"There's no point to it," replied Serena as she followed Eleanor.

"Why not?"

Again, without answering, Serena launched her attacks on Eleanor.

A clash of blades, one wrought of light, the other forged with steel, reverberated through the air; the light sparked in the air as they danced around each other, fighting in the midair.

The difference in their battle was becoming more and more obvious, as Serena still seemed calm and collected while Eleanor was going out of breath.

"She is leagues ahead of me. The moment I dropped my guard down and stopped swinging my Witchcraft It's going over for me."

Eleanor thought inside of her mind.

"I wonder how Marie is doing. If they are also as crazily strong as this woman, She won't be able to hold against two on her own."

At the pinnacle of the lane, Eleanor halted abruptly, breaking on her legs, and with the resolve she had, she charged towards Serena, who was also running in her direction. Face-to-face, a path mirrored their own. With a convergence of their auras, they clashed with a ferocity that ignited the air around them—a burst of light from the crackling sound of the merging aura. The resounding boom echoed through the mist, drawing the attention of others—fighters and knights alike.

"What's happening over there?"

"Who is fighting like that?"

"Is that Serena's light?"

—said other knights as they stopped on their toes to respond.

"Marie, keep running. Stay alive until I am there."

Eleanor said in her mind.
