I'm just a human. Just a human trying to keep up with the monsters I call friends. It isn't easy, everything I did, all the blood and sweat I put into improving was overshadowed by the talent all of them possessed. Luck was on their side since birth. God seemed to favor them, being blessed with talent many would envy. But who needs luck? Who needs gods? I was normal, and I made that my strength. Chapter Thirteen

I press a button on the vending machine, getting an energy drink, only to put in another bill and get a second one. I reach down and get them from the push plastic barrier.

Walking to my first class of the day, I thought about what was happening with my life right now. I got, technically, forcefully relocated to Tokyo, met three teens, one hard-ass teacher and now I'm a Jujutsu sorcerrer...

My life was turning into a rollercoaster.

I hummed for a moment, holding the two energy drinks in one hand as I reached the class and opened the door walking inside and tossing one of the drinks to Akira, who caught it without looking, having his head down on the desk.

"Thanks."

I sat down in an empty seat next to Shoko and opened the can, taking a sip and sighing in satisfaction.

"That's not good for you, you know?"

I glanced at Shoko and shrugged. It's been two weeks, and we talked a few times, apparently, she wanted to go to university to study medicine.

Poor fool.

"Our life expectancy is low, who cares?"

Akira raised his can in the air in a toast and I did the same before drinking.

Shoko just glanced from me to Akira before sighing.

"You two are hopeless."

Chuckling, I lean back, open my bag, and take out a book I was reading, along with a textbook to write down theories.

Leaning my head on my knuckles, I started writing in the notebook, absently reading the book next to it.

"Oi! Bookworm, spar later?"

I shrugged in response to Gojo as he went back to talking with Geto. My eyebrows furrowed when I reached the mention of a simple domain again. Since I could not perform the technique still, I only had a vague understanding, but that did not mean that I could not come up with possible uses.

Since it blocked the domain's technique did it mean that it blocked normal techniques too? What was the difference between the domain's technique and the normal technique?

I hummed, scratching my head for a moment. These things needed testing...

I flipped a few pages, going to the page where it had a binding vow description. A set of words used to give restrictions to one's self or to others. When one is making a binding vow with oneself, the greater the danger one is putting yourself in the greater the reward.

The implications were... could be devastating for opponents, but also to me. I can sense the cursed energy at my disposal very well, but that could be something rare, or something common, I still don't know.

Sighing, I narrow my eyes for a moment. My cursed technique was water manipulation, which gave me a wide range of abilities, but versatility was nothing if it wasn't accompanied by power.

I rubbed my forehead for a moment... Water, Liquid, blood, water in the plants, water in the atmosphere, Ice... Ice... Huh...

If I sacrificed every other ability, I could boost the power of the ice, but I need to word it correctly.

"Whatcha doing?"

I cast a glance to the side, eyeing Shoko and raising an eyebrow.

"The usual."

I shrugged and went back to writing the ideas that popped up in my head.

"Aren't you still new to this? You shouldn't really mess with binding vows yet."

I raised an eyebrow, glancing at her again and noticing that that got the attention of others too.

"Dude, you're trying to make a binding vow?"

Akira asked with a raised eyebrow while Gojo leaned back on his desk to give Suguru a clear view of me while pushing down his glasses to stare right at me.

"Don't."

Geto said simply, giving me a grave look and Gojo shook his head. I deadpanned at them.

"I'm not a dumbass."

___

On the contrary, maybe I was a dumbass...

The urge to do a binding vow just to spite the haters that told me that I shouldn't was hard to fight off but I managed. However, this little shit was making me regret not giving in.

I leaned to the side, avoiding a bullet of pure cursed energy and I shot forward a tendril of water, it was nothing but a distraction. Water gathered from the atmosphere as Akira dodged, From his leg, a black, panther emerged, though his pants and rushed at me.

Compressing the water around his leg, I turned it into dense ice shackle and pulled. Akira slid on the ground as I pivoted on my heel, avoiding the lundge of the panther and sending a water bullet through its body.

The Panthers body shifted, creating a hole where the bullet passed and filled itself again, leaving the Panther undamaged.

I raised an eyebrow as I slammed Akira into his own creation. The leopard sunk into his skin again, though his clothes as he rolled on the ground and pushed himself off with his hands, landing on his feet.

His pointer and index fingers were extended to me as ice creeped up on his leg. A bullet of cursed energy shot toward me and I created an ice shield in front of me. The projectile slammed into the shield and shattered it.

I felt something sharp sink into my leg and I looked down, seeing the half of the panther forming from a black puddle on the ground.

I raised an eyebrow and controlled my own blood to wrap around the snout of the leopard, forcing it open and muzzeling it for the duration of the battle.

I froze the wounds on my legs for Shoko to heal later and turned to Akira again, who broke the ice and was rushing at me.

This would take a while...
