"Alright, the mission was to intercept them, retrieve the crystal in their possession and capture the mortal soul dead or alive." Onir said as he looked toward Beira;
"We will be counting on you once again, Beira."
Onir added in a soft tone and a gentle gaze that sent Beira's heart thumping faster than ever. Beira whose heart was already beating as wild as a berserk bull, felt her body begin to grow hot, as heated blood flowed all over her cheeks, turning them as red as hot chili.
"I w-will try my best." She responded before closing her eyes as if she was concentrating on something within herself; and in the next moment, her eyes snapped open; and this time, they were glowing green.
The rest of the group looked at her in anticipation; they knew she couldn't be disturbed at the moment, since she was using one of her many tracking powers.
True enough, by the time Beira Opened her eyes, her vision changed; and as if time had flown backward, the visage; or more like the mirage, of Yama, Sun, Valpak, and Daniel appeared before her eyes.
Then everything they had experienced began to replay itself before her divine eyes; from the moment they appeared in front of the massive chunk of the broken wall, through the time when Yama and Sun sustained injuries, up until the moment they left and the exact direction they took; everything was laid bare before her.
Then just like a snake following the scent of its target, the soul signatures of the entire group mapped themselves within Beira's mind, including the route they had left through; all of it was revealed to her; even the minutest details.
"They seem to be heading towards the center of these ruins." Beira pointed out as the glow in her eyes began to gradually recede.
"What did you find at the center of the ruins?" Imros asked the only source where he would get the right answer or nothing at all.
"I can't really tell; there seems to be an energy dome covering the entirety of the central area of these ruins, and it's preventing my divine perception from probing past its borders."
Kvass replied whilst the rest of the group had several expressions on their faces that seem to reveal that they were all taken aback by Kvass' revelation.
There was no celestial or divine being that didn't know how powerful kvass was; just his 'Eye of Truth' alone is able to see through any thought that flashes past someone's mind.
Even the true spirits who were regarded as elders to the elder gods were always forced to activate the 'Obscurity'; an extremely powerful chaos artifact that even elder gods don't have the qualifications to activate, when dealing with him.
But now, the 'Eye of Truth' has once again encountered something that was on the same level as the 'Obscurity'; that, to the group, was indeed a shocking revelation.
"If an artifact on such level is being used as a simple barrier, then whatever the barrier must be guarding would at least be ten times more valuable than it." Onir commented.
"I second that thought; perhaps, it might be the crystal we are to retrieve." Belen added.
"I don't think it's the crystal. The crystal we are to retrieve is already in their possession; whatever they are going to do at the center of the ruins must be more valuable than that." Beira debunked.
"It is common knowledge that not only does the Realm of All Beginnings chooses where it would appear at random, but every time it does appear, its landscape would have also been randomly shuffled. -"
"-So, the throne hall which was previously in the eastern area, might now be located in the northern area of this realm." Kvass verified Imros' speculation.
"Well, let us find them first; we will know whatever it is that they are up to by then." Belen added.
"I second that thought, so let's hurry up." Onir added.
"It's always better to ambush a prey whenever it is in the middle of something that demands their concentration. Let's travel at a normal pace and arrive whilst they are in the middle of whatever it is they came to do." Beira suggested.
"I agree with Beira, that way we can observe the situation and understand the nature of this mission, and why the true spirits had to send five elder gods to deal with three demigods." Imros said.
"Right, now that you mentioned it, something about this mission does seem a bit off, doesn't it?" Onir said as the group turned toward Kvass.
"I'm just as clueless about the mission as you guys are, but let's observe the situation first, then we will know how to proceed from there." Kvass urged the group and they all nodded in unison before transforming into beams of light that shot toward the center of the primordial ruins.
"We're here." Yama's voice snapped Daniel out of his thoughts.
It's been only five days since Daniel had died, and the pace with which he was being introduced to a new scope of reality was proving to be too burdening for his allegedly strong mental capacity.
What was worse was the fact that; the three beings he was traveling with were explaining next to nothing to him, but despite this, he wasn't angry or frustrated in any way because he could tell that if these three beings could, they would sit him down and explain everything to him.
A typical example of why they couldn't waste any time on explaining things to him was the threat of five elder gods looming over their heads.
Even Daniel couldn't tell whether it was his intuition or instincts, but a deep sense of foreboding had begun to materialize from within the depths of his soul, ever since they appeared at the outskirts of the primordial ruins.
"Where is here?" Daniel asked after reorganizing his mind and regaining his composure.
"The Hall of All Beginnings!" Sun answered as Daniel stared at the massive gate that was about ten kilometers away from them.
"The repulsive barrier starts from here; let me go in first and once I understand the situation, I'll return, and we can all proceed together."
Yama suggested, and the entire group agreed almost instantly; even Daniel already knew by now that Yama was very scholarly and was the most suitable candidate amongst them to explore the area ahead.
"Since teleportation doesn't work, then I believe every other ability is just as useless; so, let me try divine energy." Yama proposed as a thin layer of green energy enveloped his hands.
Pressing his hand against the barrier, a faint ripple began to spread out from the point of contact, but the barrier didn't budge.
"Let's try a little harder." Yama muttered as Sun and the others took a few steps backward.
"Hmph; that's really reassuring."
Yama sarcastically said as he rolled his eyes at his companions who had quickly taken cover should in case anything happens, ignoring the fact that he was the one who would suffer the most backlash; if there was one.
The force behind Yama's palm gradually surged forth, and the moment he pressed harder into the barrier, the ripples around the barrier also began to grow bigger, spread faster, and even cover a wider area across the barrier than the first time.
But despite all of these, Yama's hand only seemed to sink about three inches deeper into the barrier.
Realizing that he had finally achieved a little progress, Yama then gathered an immense amount of energy into his palm before blasting it toward the barrier.
"Ha!" He bellowed as his palm glittered with green light.
Bang!
The barrier rippled like a sheet of silk being blown by the wind, as Yama's glittering palm slammed into it with unrestrained momentum.
This time around, the ripples spread across a quarter of the barrier, and upon reaching its limit; they all began to gather towards the source of their disturbance; with twice the size, speed and power.
Yama broke out in cold sweat when he realized what was happening.
"Retreat!" He bellowed at the rest of the group, but it was already too late.
The ripple reached its source and a beam of green light that was twice as powerful as the one which Yama had used earlier burst out of the barrier.
Boom!
The group scattered like flower pollen within fierce winds as they were all sent skidding about thirty meters away from the barrier.
If not for the fact that they had also been observing the experiment and prepared several defensive measures, they might have suffered great damage.
But luckily for them all, they had activated their defensive moves the moment they saw the ripples returning, and as a result, they suffered no injuries, asides from being tossed into the distance like a group of pool balls. away like, they didn't suffer any injuries.
But Yama on the other hand, was currently feeling his divine energy toss and turn like a roiling ocean during a devastating storm.
His entire arm kept vibrating like a jackhammer at full throttle, and he was barely doing his best to prevent his bones from breaking apart.
"Well, it's now obvious that using Divine energy or techniques of similar nature, will bear no fruit against this barrier." He muttered through clenched jaws; fighting back the blood that was threatening to spill out of his guts.
Then after taking a few minutes to calm their chaotic internal states, the three demigods began to seek other ways with which they could break through or slip past the heaven-defying barrier.
But whilst they were all thinking of several solutions to their current predicament, Daniel on the other hand, suddenly began to feel a sense of pull coming from somewhere deep within and past the barrier.
