Chapter 44: Meeting

Steve sat on Melissa's couch sipping the orange juice she had offered. He still had the cast on his leg which made Melissa wonder why he went through the trouble of coming over to see her. Why was he here anyway?

But even with all the questions in her head she didn't mind the gesture. For some reason she felt oddly comfortable now that he was here and thankful she wasn't still along with Ryan.

"How's your leg?" Melissa asked.

"It's getting better." Steve replied with a shrug. "By the way aren't you gonna introduce me to your friend?" Steve asked referring to Ryan who was sitting at the far end of the couch with a polite smile on his face that Steve wished so much to smack of his face.

"I'm so sorry. This is Ryan Winton. His my new neighbour. Ryan this is Steve Macklin his my.. friend." Melissa said with a smile.

Steve shook hands with Ryan. "Pleasure to meet you."

"Me too." Ryan replied. "Your Steve Macklin as in the Macklin's tech industries?"

"Perhaps. What do you think?." Steve asked with a smirk. He wasn't here to answer silly questions. He wondered who this guy was but more importantly he wondered who he was to Melissa. She had said he was her new neighbour. He hoped they were just neighbours and nothing more or there would be a huge dent in his master plan. He looked over at Melissa and said with a mischievous smile

"I came over to pick you up."

"Pick me up for what?" A confused Melissa asked.

"For the party silly."

"You said it was on Sunday."

"Well l decided to make a three day event. It's gonna start today and end on Sunday."

"Wow." Melissa said suprised. I guess it's true what people say. Rich people don't know what to use there money for. Melissa thought.

Melissa wasn't sure about the whole three day event thing but she had been stuck in the house for days. This no job thing was boring the hell out of her. And seeing Steve here was making her rethink Jeremy's offer.

Melissa was about to say something when the door of the apartment burst opened. It was Nicky. She was back from work.

Nicole had a very stressful day today. Her feet hurt in her heels and her back ached. She was so thankful it was the weekend which meant she could get some well deserved rest. But imagine her suprise when she got to her apartment floor and found to guys dressed in black standing guard in front of the door. She wondered what was going on. Her first instinct was to check if Melissa was alright. She ignored the two men and barged inside.

Her eyes quickly swept the room.

"Melissa." Nicky calked out relieved.

"Yeah. What's wrong?"

"What's wrong? You scared me l thought something happened. Who the heck are those guys standing outside?"

"Those are my guys. Sorry if they gave you a bit of a fright." Tony said with a smile. It was only then Nicky released that they weren't alone. Ryan, there new neighbour and a handsome stranger was there too.

"Uh.. hello." Nicky greeted awkwardly.

"Hi" Steve replied with a smile.

"Nicky this is Steve. Remember l told you about him. Steve this is Nicky. She's one of my best friends." Melissa introduced.

Steve stretched out his hand to recieve Nicky's for a handshake. Her hands were so soft a delicate. She was beautiful even though her brown eyes looked tired. She was slender and perfect. Her skin flawless her hair...

"Hey! Can you please let go of my hand now." Nicky's voice snapped Steve back to reality. Seemed like he lost himself for a moment there.

"I'm sorry. You just so beautiful." Steve blurted out without hesitation.

Nicky laughed. "Melissa you have crazy friends."

Ryan who had been silent for a while felt really awkward staying. So he decided to leave. She said goodbye to everyone and left. Immediately he left Melissa turned towards Nicky. "Do you wanna go to a party?"

"A party?" Nicky asked confused wondering where that came out from.

"Yeah. It's gonna be epic." Steve answered.
