Chapter 29: Ultimatum.
"Someone came to my office yesterday with some documents. Inside those documents were the ownership rights of my studio. And surprisingly those rights weren't mine anymore. The man told me that the building would be demolished and used for what ever purpose the new owner had in mind. At first l thought it some kind of joke until l realised that it wasn't. The only ultimatum he gave was for me to hire you back. And that's why l beg you Melissa to take your job back. Please. That studio is my life." Sasha cried.
Melissa was dumbstruck. She couldn't believe her ears. I mean who would have ever thought something like this could happen. She didn't even know what to do at this point or what to say. She just stared at Sasha. She remembered all the unfairness she received while working for her and the constant threats of firing her. She wanted to hate her. She wanted to feel like she deserved everything she was getting but she couldn't. Because even with all the bad things she did Sasha was still one of the few people who gave her a second chance. An opportunity. Which was her job.
Melissa sighed. Then she asked.
"Do you know the person who came to your office?."
"He said he wasn't important. That he was only representing his boss."
No one needed to tell Melissa who the boss was. She already knew. But why would he do such a thing for her.
"You don't have to worry Miss Phillips. Your studio is gonna be fine." Melissa said. And Sasha looked up at her with her tear stained face.
"So does that mean your coming back to work?." Sasha asked with hope.
"No. I'm afraid I'm never gonna work for you again. But don't worry. Nothing will happen to your studio. I promise."
"How can you be so sure?."
"Just give me sometime and everything will be fine. Just go home now and don't think about it again. "
"Okay." Sasha said as she stood up from the ground and walked towards the door. "Melissa before l go l just wanna say that I'm really sorr..."
"No don't. You don't have to." Melissa said shaking her head.
"I was really unfair to you. I'm so sorry." Sasha continued and burst into tears.
Now Melissa felt weird. What was she gonna do.
"Please just go home and stop worrying everything is gonna be fine. Okay."
"Thank you so much, Melissa."
"Your welcome, Miss Phillips."
With that Sasha left Melissa's apartment.
"Okay. Can somebody please explain to me what just happened." Sam asked with an amused smile on her face.
"Yeah. I would also like to know if your boss just went down on her knees to beg you to take you job back or that was some kind of joke." Nicky said. Obviously suprised by what unfolded before her eyes.
Melissa didn't say anything. She just sighed loudly.
"Spill girl. Tell us what's going on. Do you have any idea who went to her office?." Nicky asked.
"Nope l don't have any idea who went to her office. But l might know who sent him."
Melissa knew it could be Jeremy who sent someone to Sasha's office. How kind that he still thought of her. But she didn't really like the means he used. She had to make things right. She couldn't let Sasha lose her studio. But how on earth was she going to contact Jeremy Nobody. She didn't have any means of reaching him, and she didn't want to drive all the way to his house uninvited. She had already offended him once she didn't want to repeat it.
"What are you thinking about. Share it with us. Maybe we could help." Sam told Melissa. Who had gone silent for a while.
"Okay. I've made a decision."
"What decision."
"I'll go over to Jeremy's house."
"Why? Do you think he was the one who sent the man to Sasha's office?." Nicky asked.
"Perhaps. The only way to know for sure is to go over to meet him."
"Isn't is house like outside town. It's gonna be a really long drive." Sam said.
"I know."
"If you go now. Do you think you can make it back in time?." Sam asked.
"I'll try."
"There's no need for driving all the way to his house. I think you should go over to his company instead." Nicky suggested.
"Si tech?."
"Yeah."
