"That's mine!"
Dear Lord. I don't even want to know what Nacho is eating right now.
"Teacher's ill. Don't know why we don't have a substitute though. But my Latin doesn't go that far." I say dawdling into the classroom. I plonk myself down in my seat and watch Jeremy try to grab Nacho's bread out of his hand. I glance around the room. Everyone's buzzing with excitement for the years ahead. I'm not. I don't even know why I'm here. My mother taught me everything I need to know, I don't see why I have to re-learn everything. But this is compulsory, according to mum's Will. My mum died last year and it's not changed. Nothing has changed. I don't accidentally call out her name when I come home or text her when I forget something. She's gone and I don't think I ever grieved for her. She's just someone else who's disappeared from my life.
Jerry glances down from Nacho who is currently standing on one of the desks. He flashes me a goofy grin. While remaining eye contact, he pushes Nacho of the table and pads over to me. Nacho crashes onto the ground and I can't stop laughing. These guys were there for me when mum died. I think these are the only people I'll miss if they're gone. Jerry plonks himself down on my desk. He starts jabbering about how good this TV show is. I listen intently. You have to give Jerry your full attention or else he'll do something stupid. Not like he doesn't do anything stupid if you give him your full attention. He's a child. Golden brown hair and deep blue eyes. He's quite the opposite of Nacho. Nacho is sophisticated as fuck. He wore a suit to the first day of school. An actual SUIT. Like why? When I asked him he just shrugged and said it looked cool. He said he felt like James Bond. I think that was the only day when Jerry didn't try and steal Nacho's food. Probably too busy admiring him. Jerry continues blabbering until the second period when Mrs Mox arrives five minutes before she's supposed to be here. She asks us where our teacher is and all at once we try to explain to her. She just sighs and starts writing up homework for next week on the chalkboard. She explains what we have to do.
"Create a special space to practice growing herbs," she says," and perhaps some magical plants too." She smiles and jumps into a full introduction and asks us questions about our summer. A place for gardening? That is gonna be extremely difficult. I don't have enough time to sign up for an allotment and I board here so... that's gonna be fun. Jerry nudges me and hands me a note that reads; 'You want to do this as a group project with me and Nacho????' I smile and nod. I raise my hand.
"Miss, can we do this as a group project?" I ask. She says yes and I grin.
"You must each have your bed," she says
"Like a bed to sleep in?" Jerry chimes. She laughs and explains what she want in our gardens. I always do group projects with the boys. I don't have any other friends to do it with so that makes things easy. All the teachers in primary school knew us and noted that we would not, and i repeat would NOT be split up into a separate group. I would cry, Nacho would hiss and Jerry would probably set something on fire. He often overreacted at these things. The bell rings for the break and Nacho strides over to Jerry and I as we are sitting together in the middle. Nacho likes to sit next to the door so he can trip everyone over with his large amount of bags. Quite funny if I do say so myself. He asks us when we're and where we're going to do the garden. We haven't even told Nacho about the group project. He probably assumed since I asked about it but still.
"Well none of us have a place to make a garden..." Jerry begins," what stupid homework!" I laugh because he is RIGHT! I sough. What are we going to do?
This is definitely my longest chapter yet! Hope you guys enjoyed and tune in tomorrow!
