dragon squad

weiss was allowed to take the test to enter the academy she had stage six potential in terms of reiryoku like every other remnant native she had lieutenant level reiatsu but what made her special was the zanpakuto test what occurred was similar to jaune but in this case the ball froze over before shattering

of course weiss was placed with jaune's squad and jaune asked for a few days leave which was very readily granted

jaune took his squad to the dragon's den

"welcome grandmaster" one of the dragons said

"these are riders i want there dragons to come to them" i told the dragon who bowed it's head and about an hour later five dragons came forward

orihime got an female orange dragon she named mizuki

liu mei got a male silver dragon she named blade

liena got a female black dragon she named suzume

sana also got a female black dragon which she named sakura

weiss got a white dragon which she named crystal

weiss and sana took to their new positions as riders almost immediately mounting their dragons

liu mei and liena were waiting for me to tell them what to do and i gestured for them to follow suit

then there was orihime who was reluctant to ride her dragon that was until mizuki pushed orihime to the ground with her claw and forced orihime to ride her or face horrifying consequences so reluctantly she also got into the saddle on her dragons back i took my queue once everyone was on their dragons to mount my own

"everyone ready" i asked which got me quick yes responses except again orihime her dragon had to answer for her 'i'll have to talk to orihime' i thought

"alright let's get back as we fly i want you to bond with your dragons" i said and they all nodded so we returned to the academy when we landed orihime was the first to dismount and i could tell the hurt expression her dragon had i was the second although aurora knew why

"orihime" i called

"yes" she said

"why do you dislike riding your dragon so much" i asked

"i feel it's disrespectful to a sentient being to control them" orihime said while touching her hairpins i sighed i had gotten a visit from captain kurosaki explaining about her

"then take off the bridle do what the riders of the past did and guide her with your thoughts" i said

"but" orihime said

"are you saying you don't want to ride her at all" i asked

"yes" she said quietly she thought she was being an embarrassment to the group

"then your hurting mizuki" i said and she looked at me in shock

"a dragon and rider share a very special bond this means that mizuki will want you to fly with her as i fly with aurora mizuki is your partner similar to how your zanpakuto is your partner if you don't embrace it then all you will do is insult and hurt mizuki trust me if she didn't want you to ride her she has many ways of stopping you but that isn't gonna happen bonded dragons feel comfort when they have their riders on their backs do you understand" i asked she nodded

"yes" she said

"then i want you to prove it" i said she nodded and walked back to her dragon before remounting her

"the rest of you remember what i said" i told them before remounting aurora who purred as i got comfortable in the saddle

"now i want you to spend the next hour spending time with your dragons" i said before laying my back against aurora's

weiss decided she and crystal would practice combat maneuvers which didn't surprise me but then there was sana

"sir" she said

"yes sana" i asked not even bothering to sit up

"may i take a leave of absence" sana asked

"sure so long as you bond with your dragon i don't care" i said sana nodded and she and her dragon left i then noticed captain rukia i dismounted aurora much to her disappointment and walked up to the captain kneeling in front of her

"ma'am" i said

"stand" rukia said and i rose to my feet in attention

"at ease" rukia said and i relaxed

"i see your squad has taken to their dragons" rukia said

"yes ma'am" i said

"speak freely" rukia said

"some are doing better than others" i said

"explain" rukia said

"orihime i had to twist her arm just to accept her position as a rider she is way too kind for her own good she wouldn't even speak with her dragon until i straightened her out and if she is gonna be apart of my squad she needs to be able to ride otherwise she is useless to me" i said

"i'll speak with captain kurosaki he was the one who insisted upon orihime being in your squad i'll have her transferred" rukia said i shook my head

"if i were to separate orihime from her dragon, mizuki would fall into a deep depression which is why i am twisting orihime's arm in the end the ones she is hurting most are her dragon and herself" i said

"i see" rukia said noting that for the future

"that being said now that i told them to bond orihime is opening up to her dragon who in turn is explaining exactly what mizuki wants mizuki is a very submissive dragon who wants a dominant rider why she picked orihime is anyone's guess maybe she wants to make orihime a dominant rider who knows" i said

"it seems you have your work cut out for you" rukia said

"not really liena and liu mei only care about what i want and sana and weiss are natural riders so it's just orihime i was reluctant but that was more out of fear then out of what orihime calls disrespect which is stupid as the dragons first sought me out to be a rider they want riders" i ranted

"well good luck jaune you will need it" rukia said

"yes captain" i said she nodded and shunpoed i sighed and remounted my dragon spending a bit more time with her
