JAUNE ARC POV

Jaune blocked the attack but the force behind him sent him skidding through the ground even after he used his Telekinesis to dampen the force behind the blow.

Melanie blurred from his sight but he was able to hear her coming through the right and moved to block her only for her to change tactics and go for a sweep kick, making him lose his balance and fall to the ground.

He put a hand on the ground and tried to somersault away from her only for her to get inside his guard and kick him in the chin.

A kick that sent him flying through three different trees before the use of his Telekinesis finally managed to put a stop to his fall.

He had not even landed on the ground before Melanie was on him once again, using his airborne position to get in as many strikes as possible until he turned his sword into its handgun form and used the Fire Dust to shoot her.

The forest was filled with explosions as Melanie blurred and managed to dodge most of her shots with ease but he could see the shockwave from the explosions affecting her.

Eventually, he ran out of clips and before he could change to another one, Melanie was on him again.

The difference between the speed of a 6th tier and a mere 5th tier was phenomenal.

The only 5th tier he knew to be faster than a 6th tier was Ruby who could use her Semblance to become faster than them for a while but she's not able to attack in that form and could only use them for mobility. For now at least.

He tried to block her attacks. He even managed to block most of them despite the speed and intensity of her attacks but some of them went through, decreasing his aura by 1% every now and then.

He used his shield to bash her away but she easily dodged that as well before she tried to get in to attack him once more.

That was exactly what he was waiting for as he swung his sword at her and struck her form for the first time since the start of this fight.

Only for her to block his attack with a single finger.

How? Oh—

Her semblance. Inertia Rejection.

When did she become so good at using it?

Then, instead of attacking him, she brought a finger to his forehead and flicked him.

He felt his brain rattle inside his skull and blanked out for a moment.

When he gained his sense again, he was lying flat on the ground, buried in a deep trench and looking at the clear sky up above… and Melanie falling down from above with a stabbing motion.

His eyes widened and he brought out his shield at the last moment to block her attack.

The power behind that attack still pushed him deeper into the soil and the ground around him cracked and shattered from the impact.

Melanie took hold of his shield and threw it, and him along with it to a tree.

He corrected his position mid-air using Telekinesis and wondered how the hell did she rattle his brain with a simple flick of her fingers.

Then it dawned on him.

Just like Pyrrha and Neo, her semblance had seen a lot of growth as well.

And if his guess was right then her Semblance had evolved from simple Inertia Rejection to Inertia Redirection.

Meaning that she could store the force behind any attack with the Intertia Reject and then redirect it to someone else.

That's… pretty awesome.

And then she was on him once again.

Her kick buried him on the tree behind him as it cracked and started to fall over.

Not willing to let her have all the advantage, he caught the tree trunk with both his arms and swung it at her.

She dodged the tree swipe. Because of course, she did. But his attack broke the other trees in their way and its branches and leaves racked through the ground and created a cloud of dust and dirt which he promptly dove inside to get away from her relentless barrage.

True she was the only one who has been in the offense so far and he had taken quite a lot of beating since the start of this fight.

But his Aura reserves were so large that while she might have broken the aura of someone else multiple times by now, his Aura was currently sitting at 63%.

Oh, it's 64% now.

Melanie's own aura was sitting snugly at 98%. With the 2% probably missing thanks to the use of her Semblance.

If someone were to look at their fight right now then they would say that there was no chance that he would win this fight.

But he knew. That unlike her aura, which was mostly untouched, her stamina was on a steady decline since the start of this fight.

And unlike him, who could fight for hours without rest, she couldn't do the same.

She might be fast and strong but if he could outlast her Stamina then he would win this fight.

In fact, the only reason she had not dove inside the Dust cloud to attack him was that she was probably trying to get back some of her lost stamina as well.

Which… would probably help her more than him.

He held the urge to facepalm himself.

Hiding inside the cloud of dust was not a good idea.

He saw his aura climb to 65% and went out to attack her.

It took him a moment to find her sitting comfortably on top of a tree branch.

With a roar, he shield bashed the tree trunk, shattering it to pieces, and then caught the trunk before swinging it toward the place where she had landed.

Swinging tree trunks at people might be his new thing.

And then the fight continued.
