Chapter # 08

James said, "Core? I think you have misunderstood it Mr Ronald. This is the necklace which belonged to my mother". Mr Ronald was still unsatisfied so he said, "May I have a look?". James thought for a moment and then handed the necklace to Mr Ronald. Mr Ronald carefully examined it and said, "Well, it's undoubtedly is a core, but it's empty". James a sked, "What exactly is a core Mr Ronald?"

Mr Ronald replied with a proud expression on his face, "Mr Hook, a mystical beast can be tamed if it has the following two conditions"

> It should be intelligent. Meaning it can differentiate between a friend and a foe

> And secondly, it should have the ability to convert into a spirit.

"The first point should be easy to understand. However, the second point is where this core comes in. You see, a majority of mystical beasts can change into a secondary form known as spirit form, and this form serves the function of healing and resting but requires a material medium which is a core. However there can be exceptions"

James nodded his head in the affirmative but noticed an odd expression on Mr Ronald's face. "Is something wrong Mr Ronald?" asked James. Mr Ronald replied, "Well the thing is that this core has a very thick density and focused mass which is very suitable for Night here. But I wonder which beast resided inside this core before as it has to be on par with a Dark Paladin or maybe even stronger"

Mr Gon interrupted and said, "I don't remember either of James's parents having a pet". Then Mr Ronald continued, "But that isn't even the weirdest thing about this core". Не said this while carefully separating the dark purple stone from the chain. Then he continued, "It's the shape. Most cores are circle in shape, but this is oval in shape. It must serve a secondary function"

"Secondary function?" asked James with interest. Mr Ronald replied, "Meaning that it must have an other function besides acting as a core for a beast. For example, a key for a lock or a chest. Well, this is just my personal assumption". James was now deep in his thoughts with a joyful expression on in face when he noticed Mr Ronald trying to lift something heavy from under the table. He said with a tired expression, "Gon help me here, will you?" Gon went behind the table and both lifted with all their might and placed the object on the table. On closelt inspecting the state of the two adults, James was surprised that the table was able to support the weight of the object.

Now if we look at the object, it was a total abomination. Lights were flashing here and there from which James and Gon were blinded but Mr Ronald was suddenly with sunglasses smiling proudly. It looked like it was made from the merging of several household items. James thought it was his imagination but he saw a toaster and a cooker. Mr Ronald placed the core of the necklace in his 'abomination' and the light shined even brighter. James saw that Night converted into a beam of light and flew inside a machine.

Suddenly, the room was emersed in several noises in cluding the whistle of the cooker and several burnt toasts was shot towards Mr Gon's direction but he ducked on time and avoided them. The machine was shaking rapidly with the table and James thought it was about to explode. Fortunately, it didn't (Well for most part). The toaster fell apart from the machine and landed in front of Mr Gon's feet. Then a robotic hand emerged from the part where the toaster fell.

The hand was holding the core which was shining with purple energy and looked more mesmerizing. Mr Ronald took the core from the hand and carefully attached it with the necklace. While the hand took the toaster from the floor and re-attached it to the machine. Mr Ronald handed the necklace to James and said, "There you go, good as new. I would say even better. Now whenever you will call him, he will come out". James wore the necklace and both he and Mr Gon bid farewell to the old fellow and again moved forward in the mustang.
