Chapter # 02
It has been 14 years since James joined the family. He was a perfect fit for the empty hole in the family. He has grown into a handsome young fellow with white hairs and bright red eyes. He had just attended annual examinations and now was free. So he spent this time with his family.
James most loved his mother (Mrs Rosswell) but was a bit annoyed that she was superprotective towards him. He started the day by helping his mother in the kitchen as he was fond of cooking and learned greatly from his mother. Then he spent the afternoon with his grandmother who told him weird stories about her life that she was a wizard and fought a dragon and other stuff which James thought was probably fake but he enjoyed listening them. Then the evening with his father (Mr Rosswell) about his time in the office.
But there were some things that was troubling his family, like the letter that came with him and that he was very unpopular among his agefellows due to his unique genes, so he had no friends. So his family thought of giving him a pet on his birthday. Next week, James was about to be 16 years old. He was really exited about it. However, he was a bit depressed that he had no friends so who was he going to invite but didn't gave it too much thought as he was going to have a pet. Days passed by and today was his birthday. Mr and Mrs Rosswell after having breakfast went out to get his pet, so James and granny were alone.
Granny went to the living room near the fireplace and started reading a book. James went to the kitchen to eat the leftover cookies that granny made last night. He took one of them and was about to go to his room when the doorbell rang." They have come back so soon, probably the shop was closed" thought James as the went to the door to open it, but when he opened it there was no one. Just an envelope lying on the entrance and it was addressed:

James's heart pounded with excitement. He, who had no friends just received a letter personally addressed to him. The envelope was jet black and the address was written in silvery ink. He ran to the living room to show the letter to his grandmother but she fell asleap while reading. James was about to open the letter when the door bell rang again. He went to open it and this time, it was Mr and Mrs Rosswell "Sorry son, the shop was closed", said Mr Rosswell. Mrs Rosswell interrupted, "Honey I told you it was too early in the morning...." Mrs Rosswell then noticed the letter in James's hand and her tone
suddenly changed. "Where... did you get that", she said with a raged tune pointing at theletter. "Oh this? It was laying on the floor at the entrance", said James.
Then tears started pouring from Mrs Rosswell's eyes on the floor. Mom! What's the matter, why are you crying?"said James. Mr Rosswell said, "It's nothing, give the letter to me and go to your room. I addressed it to your name". James hesitated at first but after seeing hismother's tears, he gave up the letter and went to his room upstairs. Mr and Mrs Rosswell went inside the living room and locked it from the inside.
"Mother! Where were you? James was just about to open the letter", said Mr Rosswell.
"Jordan, I am old now, I felt asleep. Even so, What's the matter? He has to face the truth
sooner or later" said the grandmother. "NO!", said Mrs Rosswell," I said I will not give
James to them! He's our son now." Mr Rosswell's mother tried to reason with her but she didn't listen." No! They will just take him and get him killed just like my brother..... we'll just ignore them and they will be able to do nothing... I'm going to see James", she said and went out of the living room
While in James room, he was really frustrated. He have gotten really curious to see what was in that letter. Out of frustration, he hit a bookshelf near his bed, but something other than a book landed on his head.
