Chapter 20

The next morning Noel was waiting for Jade outside the apartment building for their scheduled time out together. Noel was wearing a casual suit and his blue scarf that made his blue eyes stand out all the more. When Jade walked outside the building doors into view Noel was certain he felt his heart skip ever so slightly at the sight of the sunlight shining down upon Jade almost making his black hair almost seem glossy in the light. It was a beautiful sight in his eyes, but he was quickly pulled back to his senses when he realized how completely effortless Jade's clothes seemed. The man was wearing a simple black and white striped shirt with black pants. It almost felt like Jade was preparing for a prison photo shoot which made Noel snicker slightly under his breath for a moment.

"You.. really don't put much effort into anything besides killing do you?" Noel slightly teased.

"What are you talking about now?" Jade raised a brow slightly at Noel's words which caused Noel to shut his mouth quickly. He forced a smile for a moment before turning to start walking to their destination.

"Lets get a move on!" Noel declared with a firm determination to make the most out of the day.

"How can someone have so much energy.." Jade mumbled to himself as he watched Noel starting off without him. It was like Noel was certain he would follow after him but Jade knew he had already given his okay for today so he did not want to go back on his word he had already given Noel so he just began to follow him silently from behind.

The city was bright, loud, and crowded which was something that Jade did not enjoy being around much but Noel seemed unfazed by it all. He had grown up in the city and was use to everything that had to do with this world. It was his home after all so no matter what happened there weren't many things that could easily catch him off guard. If jade had to guess he'd assume Noel had lived in the city since he was born with how easily he handled himself. Jade shook his head as he realized after a minute that he had started to stare at Noel from behind.

"You don't have to walk behind me like that.. It makes it feel like I am walking a dog." Noel sighed slightly as he turned his head slightly to check on Jade behind him.

"It's fine. Where are you planning to take me?" Jade asked as if he was trying to avert Noel's attention to a different topic so that Noel would not pressure him to keep up more.

"Well to start with I thought we'd grab something for breakfast." Noel spoke his plans out loud which made his face flush slightly at how embarrassing it sounded. He knew in reality they were not a couple but the more he thought about it the more it sounded like he was going on a date with the man. When he realized he was the only one who seemed to me mentally panicked he assumed he was over thinking things and tried to shove that feeling away.

"Alright. Where?" Jade asked as he stepped closer to Noel as they walked along the street.

"Huh? Ah!" Noel jumped slightly when he realized how close Jade was to him. The complex emotions running through his body had him confused. He was both scared of Jade and yet the realization of Jade getting close to him made his chest throb.

"What's wrong with you?" Jade asked the question with a look of annoyance as he glared Noel down. The man was standing there holding his hand to his chest as though he was about to have a heart attack.

"Sorry.. You sort of caught me off guard getting so close like that without warning." Noel tried to calm the situation down before things got out of hand. It was hard enough to ask Jade to accompany him today so he did not want things to get ruined so easily because he was nervous.

"If this is so complicated I'll just-" Jade was getting ready to return to his apartment when he felt Noel suddenly grab onto him by his wrist. The warmth of Noel's hand sent a strange sense of calm throughout Jade's body as he felt the man's body heat clasped around his cold wrist in an attempt to restrain him from leaving.

"Don't.. Don't go." Noel spoke bluntly as his gaze held strong against Jade's own jade green eyes. His body was shivering slightly as if he did not know what to expect in a reaction from Jade. In truth, he did not know at all in the slightest, when it came to reactions from Jade he could never read the man to know if the reaction would be simple or dangerous. There was not a small number of rumors around the city about him. When it came to Jade the rumors of how dangerous he was and how it was best to avoid him was much larger then anything else about him.

"Fine." Jade sighed heavily. His eyes slowly going down to glare at the hand that was still firmly holding his wrist. "Let go?"

"Ah!" Noel startled and quickly released the wrist from his grasp. The hand that once held onto him was now tucked behind Noel's head as he scratched the back of his neck. Thoughts raced in his mind as he contemplated over how awkward things felt at the moment between them. To refrain things from getting worse he quickly started to walk again with Jade following him closely from behind at his side. The man was walking so close he couldn't keep his face from becoming slightly flushed without realizing it.

"We're almost there!" Noel shouted out in a tone of excitement as he felt the urge to quickly separate himself from standing so close to Jade. It was not out of fear that he wanted to stand further apart, but simply that he could not be sure his heart would take much more of it. His sudden burst though only gained a strange look from Jade as if the man was trying to decipher something from his actions.
