Chapter 14

That night Jade spent the late hours of the night wandering the street. Every where he went he could still hear people whispering in fear of him but the occasional whisper would reach his ears about the previous fight he had failed in against Silvester. It was something that caused him to ponder on how he should really feel about the situation. He was still a feared killer but would the fear of his name begin to wane over time if he let things go with Silvester. The pain and agony that he had once gone through over the man was not something he felt he could just let go of so easily. On his back he could still feel the agonizing ache of a part of him missing because that beast had stolen from him a part of him.

"Kill... Kill.. Must kill.." Jade started to repeat his words under his breath as a strong desire to kill Silvester started to fester in the back of his mind. There was a rising thirst for blood in him that was hard to quench. His mentality was beginning to slip into the desire to reap in the night. He had been holding himself back for a few days now because of his wounds but killing was something that came natural for him. If he did not give into his desire soon he felt like he would completely lose his mind to the desire

One... Anyone.. Kill.. Anyone.. Him.. Her... Him.. The voice in his mind began to call out to him as his eyes repeatedly darted around the street as he walked. His single wing folded against his back easily caught the eyes of passersby as they tried to avoid stepping close to Jade.

"Kill!" A slight laugh started to escape from his throat as he knelt down closer to the ground and covered his mouth with his black half mask.

His jaded eyes began to quake as he continued to gaze around him. His hearing as so in tuned to what was around him that he felt as though he could hear people's beating hearts. The sounds of their blood running within their veins was so tempting to slit their veins and watch it all drain away. In his mind he could tell he was losing to his own desires if he did not find someone quick. As seconds passed him by his eyes eventually landed on a man who was stumbling drunken down the street.

"Him.." A smile started to slowly slide its way up onto his face as he began to stumble back up to a standing position. The pulse of his heart in his own chest began to pound excitedly as his feet paced themselves up silently begin the man until a strong waft of liquor engulfed his nostrils. It was a stench that could easily cause a person to become sick if they had a low tolerance but he did not mind it. Jade was immune to becoming drunk to begin with so something so simple as it's scent gave him no reaction.

His sharp nails began to extend from his fingers like long razor blades the closer he got to the man. After muttering to himself in his drunken daze the man slowly began to turn his head back to glance at Jade. It was a wonder how the old man had not noticed him sooner but given the state he was in Jade could chalk that up to his low capability to concentrate around his own surroundings.

"FWUMP!"

Jade's hand burst straight through the man's back and out of his chest. Death came quickly for the man as Jade's hand was firmly holding the man's heart in the palm of his own hand. Making a firm grasp on it the heart was squeezed until it shattered in the palm of his own hand. His body shook as if a heavy burden had just left Jade's mind. He could hear the screams and shouts of locals as they were torn between watching and running for their own lives.

As Jade took his hand back out of the dead man he watched as the body flopped onto the side of the street. The sight of the corpse falling to the ground was something that felt strangely comforting to him at that moment. Was it comforting because he subconsciously felt like he needed an easy win to relax? He was not sure what it was himself but it was surely something that felt nice.

"I wonder.." He muttered to himself under his breath for a split second before walking away from the corpse and heading back towards his apartment.

In that moment he felt better than when he had left so he was sure he could manage to get a good night's rest. At day break he thought he might try to contact Logan about his next job soon. The longer he waited before getting back into the killing the more it worried him. If Logan felt like he had become useless to him as well he knew it would become hard to crawl back up if Logan even decided to let him stay alive. Logan was not the type to let someone go that easily unless it was to have them turn into a corpse themselves.

Jade knew he was heading home covered in blood from the man he had just taken down on the street but the looks and stares did not bother him. It was not his first time going home in the middle of the night covered in someone else's blood. The strong scent of it was like strong iron and caused his jaw to clench slightly.

As his mind was wandering while he paced himself for home he began to ponder a different thought. His eyes began to land on the door that he had become accustomed to over the weeks.

TING TING

"Wel-Welcome!" Noel shouted out nervously as his eyes landed on a blood covered man, Jade, as he entered the bar. From the look on Noel's face it was obvious that he did not know what to think at the sight of the man coming in to drink while wearing blood all over his clothing. It felt like the bartender was living inside of a horror film and couldn't help but to jokingly ponder over who was next to die. At least in his heart he hoped it really was a joke because he knew with Jade it was hard to really guess some times.
